Should Christians speak out against "satanism"? What is "the satanic temple"? Do "satanists" believe in "satan"? The first ever "satancon" was hosted by "the satanic temple" on February 11-13 in Scottsdale, Arizona. This was the inaugural "convention". What is even more interesting is the fact that when Christians stepped out in protest against the "satanists", their efforts were spoken out against by a roman catholic bishop. While the protestors were stepping out to say that Jesus Christ is LORD, holding signs with Holy Scripture written on them, "bishop" Thomas Olmsted spoke out saying that "we" should refrain from "participating in any public demonstration or protest." While I agree with the emphasis that he put on prayer and fasting as means of engaging in spiritual warfare, I completely disagree with the fact that the Church should not step forward in protest against this wicked movement. I am against the roman catholic system and their sacramental means of salvation through infused righteousness, just as much as I am against "satancon". Both movements are deceiving many people to Hell, just through different means. So, it does not surprise me that one would step forward to stop the protest of the other. While the satanist belief system claims to be atheistic in nature and does not actually believe in a literal "satan", the fact that they chose to venerate the fallen one is too convenient to be a coincidence. Of all the deities they could choose to represent a symbol of "defiance, independence, wisdom, and self-empowerment", they chose the one in direct opposition to the Christian faith. Not to mention, "the satanic temple" refers to itself as the "primary satanic religious organization in the world." The "conference" was reported to have 350 attendees. The "talks and presentations" at the "conference" were apparently a showcase of "various campaigns" that are being put forth by the organization. These include the promotion of many movements that Christians often speak out against, such as, reproductive rights. Hiding behind addiction and abuse recovery, they are paving the way to allow for further clubs to prop up in support of people who have been hurt. After-school "clubs" seem to be a strong area of focus for them. The co-founder, lucien greaves (I refuse to show him any respect by capitalizing his name), claims that this "convention" serves as an expression of "goodwill toward the city of Scottsdale". Christians need to take action and speak out against these demonic constructs. What are the Biblical standards of a pastor? Are megachurches real Churches? Should Christians listen to/support hillsong, bethel, or elevation music? Discovery Plus has caused an eruption in the Christian community when they released the trailer for their new three-part docuseries, "Hillsong: a Megachurch Exposed". It will include interviews with New York Post reporter Hannah Frishberg, former hillsong volunteer Janice Lagata, megachurch expert Ben Kirby, and Ranin Karim, who had an affair with former hillsong pastor Carl Lentz. Originally founded by Brian Houston in Australia, hillsong has become a prominent force in the world with more than 150,000 members worldwide. Now, several former members are stepping forward to share their experiences. The film seeks to examine the popular celebrity "church" and the controversy surrounding it, in particular with their former "pastor" Carl Lentz. Lentz gained major popularity by being the "pastor" of Justin Bieber and other prominent celebrities; however, Lentz has found himself in an arena of sexual immorality, abuse, and cover-ups. This chaotic environment has paved the way for the members to be traumatized, abused, and be exploited. On one hand, I am grateful that this mega "church" is having their corruption exposed; however, I can't help but think about the numerous people who possibly could have had their faith shipwrecked or allowed this scandal to reflect poorly on Christianity. They do not represent Biblical Christianity though and unfortunately, the modern Church has done nothing but support organizations like hillsong, bethel, and elevation. With quotes such as, "hillsong changed the way that many of us saw church" or referring to it as the "cool church", the trailer perfectly captures the majority view of the world. This trailer comes only a couple of months after a previous film put forth by the BBC exposed hillsong and only a couple weeks after the campuses lead pastors in London resigned after 12 years. The true Biblical Church needs to step forward and illustrate what the Biblical standards are for a Church and the leaders. It has been reported that over 200,000 viewers of the new evangelistic film "Light Your World" produced by the Luis Palau Association have made a decision to put their faith in Jesus Christ. The film debuted on December 31, 2021; however, I have just heard of this film this week. Being that this film has had such an impact, I wanted to watch it and examine their presentation of the Gospel message. I also wanted to watch the testimonies present. I want to see if this film is Biblically sound and give my honest thoughts on it. I am not too familiar with the theology of the hosts Andrew and Wendy Palau. I also know that there are performances of TobyMac and Maverick City, which I am very outspoken against a lot of contemporary Chrisitan artists due to their poor theology and heretical doctrines they mask behind a catchy tune. I do not know either of these artists that well, so I will be speaking on the songs present in the film. It included testimonies from multiple individuals, including Christian artists Danny Gokey and Darren Mulligan from We Are Messengers, and television host Myrka Dellanos. I will also take a look at the Light Your World Challenge that is being promoted by the film and see what that entails. After a roman catholic bishop from Phoenix, Arizona by the name of Andres Arango had mistakenly performed thousands of baptisms over the course of decades by using the phrase "we baptize you" instead of "I baptize you", these baptisms were deemed "invalid". I would argue that any baptism performed by water that one is using as a means of requiring regeneration, rather than trusting in Jesus Christ alone and the Gospel message that He brings forth about His life, death, burial and resurrection for the remission of sins and the granting of eternal life to all that believe, is an invalid one. It is invalid because it denies the Baptism that truly matters and that is the Baptism with the Holy Ghost that was prophesied by John the Baptist in Matthew 3:11-12, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire (King James Version)." The reason that this error is deemed so grave is because of the roman catholic doctrine of infused righteousness. They believe that the righteousness of Jesus Christ is not imputed on someone's account by Grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone as clearly stated in Romans chapters 3-5. They believe that one must obtain righteousness through a series of meritorious good works, in addition to faith in Jesus Christ; however, their true faith is not in Jesus, but rather their sacramental system that has no Scriptural bases. The water baptism is essentially one's access to the sacramental system, which (using their logic) means that anyone who was baptized incorrectly have wrongfully partaken in other sacraments, have not received remission of sins, and other observances are deemed invalid, such as marriage. This just goes to show the dangers of traditions of men, which we are specifically warned about in Colossians 2:8, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (KJV)." Unfortunately, whether it be due to comfort or pride, many are unwilling to step away from their traditions. Does God Choose some to be saved and not others? How can I know if God really forgave me? Can a Christian come to God by their own free will? Today we have a special interview with Dr. Leighton Flowers. He was named the Director of Evangelism and Apologetics for Texas Baptists in 2018. He is the host of the Christian podcast @Soteriology101 where he speaks out against reformed theology after renouncing his position as a 5-point Calvinist. He is a speaker, debater, and author of “The Potter’s Freedom: A Biblical Defense of Traditional Soteriology” and “God’s Provision for All: A Defense of God’s Goodness”. TALKING POINTS: 1.) Dr. Leighton Flowers speaks on his journey in and out of reformed theology, commonly referred to as "Calvinism". 2.) What was the "straw that broke the camel's back" when it came to him renouncing reformed theology? Also, what he finds many Calvinists overlook that prevent them from doing the same. 3.) Answering to the objection that one cannot consistently believe in the doctrines of eternal security and imputed righteousness, if they also believe man is capable of placing faith in Jesus Christ. 8.) What are some key considerations that someone should take into account when confronted with a reformed proof text and what are some passages of Scripture that you feel decimate the TULIP acrostic? 9.) What defense can people use against these common reformed arguments? When the Bible uses the word “all”, is that all without exception or all without distinction? If all men truly are capable of being saved, then how do men perishing not eternally frustrate God, unless one adheres to universal reconciliation? Do you believe Jesus is a perfect Savior or can only try to save? How can God be sovereign in a theological model that demands synergism instead of monergism? If you believe man is capable of “activating” their own salvation, how is this not an attempt to steal the glory from God? Should Christians watch a film that they know has sexual content? Should Christians be involved with the Romance genre to begin with? "Redeeming Love" is popular novel written by Francine Rivers, which captures the story of a girl named Angel who was sold into prostitution as a child and knows nothing but betrayal. The story revolves around this idea of will she ever learn to trust, heal, and love? The claim is that this story is loosely based on the book of Hosea from the Bibe. While I feel that the word "loosely" is very misleading and in no way seems to be inspired by the book of Hosea, I still find the story about finding redemption in love to be a beautiful story; however, I take major issue with the sexual content present. With the book now being adapted into a movie, it is creating major controversy in Christian circles begging the question if a Christian should see the movie. For me, if you have to ask the question, you already know the answer. This is my take on why Christians SHOULD NOT watch "Redeeming Love". Can we really trust a secular movie studio to produce Christian content, especially one that is known for producing graphic and explicit content like Universal Pictures? For Christians who do believe that this movie portrays the book of Hosea, it just shows how little the western world knows it's Bible. It also begs the question, are Christian movies safe to watch? If you are unfamiliar with what the controversy is surrounding "Redeeming Love", supposedly there are two sex scenes in the film. First, the story can be told without the sex scenes, so that should be a red flag right there. Second, if the purpose was to put forth Christian content, why are such graphic scenes being filmed with a crew present between two people who are unmarried. It is completely inappropriate, but we have many "Redeeming Love" Christian reviews that are giving the green light to viewers. My commentary and reading of the epistle from the early Church that recorded the martyrdom of Polycarp from Smyrna on Late Night with Lisa and Friends! This is a letter from the apostolic age of Church history. Polycarp was a disciple of the Apostle John and a 2nd-century bishop in at the Christian Church in Smyrna who was martyred for his faith during his 80s. Christians faces harsh persecution in these days for not acknowledging polytheism, the "gods" (demons) of the Roman state, or the worship of Caeser. As a result, they were often called atheists (as you will hear them referred to as in this letter). This is a beautiful account that shows the attitude that the early Christians had when it came to persecution and martyrdom. Martyrdom is the decision to stand on the truth of the Gospel based on their faith and dare to take all risk even a death sentence or torment without doing any violence in defense. An attitude that seems to have done dormant in many modern "churches" of the 21st century. Not only was martyrdom something that Christians volunteered themselves for, but they encouraged many through their acts because the Holy Spirit had worked through them. His grace gave them courage and peace. Attempted death penalties failed, and persecution did not silence the Gospel. Elon Musk recently shocked the Christian world as he sat down for a podcast interview with the Babylon Bee where he was asked if he would accept Jesus as his LORD and Savior. Musk is clearly not a Christian, yet when the topic of Christianity and Jesus was inevitably brought up, Christians watched in anticipation only to witness Babylon Bee deliver the most inexcusable presentation of the Gospel message that I have ever witnessed. Not only did they fail Musk miserably, but they also disrespected our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ throughout the interview. When Musk opened the door for conversation about Jesus, the LORD's supper, the Holy Scripture, and more, it was met with jokes and unbecoming rhetoric. From the unbiblical questions, such as, "If you could add one book to the Bible, what would it be?" to equating the wine used symbolically in the Bible to white claws, this Christian ministry let a lost man leave their studio without hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ in an attempt to befriend the world. Christians should not excuse this tragedy, nor should they support the Babylon Bee. Those who do, do not see the severity of this situation, they do not have any urgency to have this man's soul saved, and they have no reverence for God. This is just one of the many recent examples that shine a light on the spinelessness of modern Christianity. Is social media influencing your Christian walk? What role does social media play when it comes to comparing ourselves with others? Stop comparing yourself to others on social media. Is it Biblical to compare yourself with other believers? What about other people in general? Comparing yourself to others is not only useless, but it can prevent God from using you to accomplish great things and overcome challenges. It robs us of much spiritual fruits, such as joy, peace, and love. All Christians must stop this because when they want to be more like others, that oftentimes comes at the expense of wanting to be more like Jesus Christ, which we are called to conform to the image of Jesus Christ. ("For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren." - Romans 8:29). This is not a new issue among men. We can see it as far back as Genesis with the account of Cain & Abel. People constantly compare themselves, their accomplishments, their looks, their titles, their missions, and so much more with others to see how they measure up; however, comparing yourself to others can stop your spiritual and personal growth. This can cause depression and anxiety. Social media only adds to this prompting to compare ourselves to others. There are many traps that Christians fall into when it comes to social media. How should a Christian use social media to the glory of God? I feel obligated to say yes as a Christian! I'm spreading myself to thin! I'm spreading myself to thin! Let's talk about Biblical boundaries! Are you feeling obligated to say yes? Do you have permission to be human? You need to stop pleasing others and today we talk about how to cure the disease to please. "Not looking only to your own needs but also to the needs of others" seems to be misunderstood by many today. You can't help others if you don't help yourself! I have committed myself to too much recently. Feeling guilty when you can't be there for everyone has become the new norm of western society. So many are feeling guilty for calling off work when they need to. Saying no as a Christian can leave one feeling like an inconvenience. Is it morally wrong to say no? We discuss why being a people-pleaser is bad for you and how to STOP being a people-pleaser but still be nice. Jack talks on how to set boundaries at work with your boss and co-workers. Jordan talks about the importance of communication in a relationship and setting expectations for yourself. Christians should not be a yes man (or woman). Being there for everyone is not realistic and many do not look for the signs of emotional burnout. Still, picking and choosing has left many feeling guilty for the choices made. It's no wonder why people say, "I never have energy to do anything" or "I'm always tired and have no energy". It's time to discuss how to set boundaries at work, in a relationship (especially toxic relationships), while dating, as a Christian and how to say no to someone without hurting their feelings. We oftentimes have a fear of hurting others or just a fear of men in general. We get scared to let our guard down in certain situations. We want to be a hero when it comes to being there for others but not there for you. Mental health awareness and healthy boundaries are closely linked. While the focus is to show you how to say no as a Christian without feeling guilty, unfortunately, there will be times that you are treated poorly as a result. So, how should a Christian respond when they are mistreated? Responding gracefully even when there is a pressure to inconvenience ourselves and then dealing with the lack of understanding Biblically, is key! What does it mean to be a servant in the Bible? How am I supposed to serve others as a Christian? Is it possible to have victory over severe anxiety? This is my testimony of how God set me free from anxiety! Agoraphobia recovery is possible in the powerful name of Jesus Christ! Amen! It is our hope that this video gives Christians the permission they need to understand that a believer can struggle with agoraphobia, but not to just end there. Through faith alone in Jesus Christ, we have the capability to overcome agoraphobia and have success. This is agoraphobia as a testimony to faith. Anxiety kept me from leaving my house for years. I went on a long journey to not only learn how to treat agoraphobia, but how to stop agoraphobia from ruining my life. When I heard agoraphobia explained as a fear of open spaces, fear of crowds and being afraid to leave the house, it seemed like such a specific phobia that had no answers. I was so desperate to overcome agoraphobia that I would spend hours searching for how to cure agoraphobia, symptoms of agoraphobia, agoraphobia treatment, and anything that pertained to my mental wellness. Life with agoraphobia meant mental health education, psychiatry, coping mechanisms, cognitive restructuring, therapy (sometimes online therapy), other forms of counseling, self improvement, leading me to investigate the complications of health and agoraphobia. Being agoraphobic is challenging, especially during the daytime when one relies on public transportation and finds themselves in closed spaces often. The intense fear brought on depression. I found that the psychologist could provide the diagnosis, but could not fully understand the agoraphobia symptoms. This is where the necessity for mental illness awareness comes into play, so that people may understand more than what the textbook says the agoraphobia definition is. Wellness and mental illness help would be so much more achievable if there was a more personal understanding of mental health conditions. How to treat agoraphobia becomes much more centered on the individual and equips that individual with the tools they need to understand how to overcome agoraphobia. With any anxiety disorder, there is often anticipatory anxiety. Living with anxiety, especially debilitating anxiety, is hard because many do not know how to help someone with anxiety disorders. Many know what anxiety feels like, so they feel they are able to offer anxiety disorder help; however, when it comes to the relationship between anxiety and agoraphobia, it is much more than generalized anxiety. I remember tuning into any anxiety disorder documentary to have my anxiety symptoms explained, find anxiety relief techniques in order to cure anxiety, and anything else that could offer anxiety help in order to end anxiety. My life revolved around anxiety symptoms and a constant search for how to stop anxiety or anxiety attacks. To overcome anxiety would mean to regain normalcy because many do not understand the link between agoraphobia and social anxiety. Panic attacks are another real concern for those who struggle because of the common link between panic disorder and agoraphobia. Panic attacks bring on a feeling of impending death out of nowhere. The DSM-VI used to have the diagnosis of panic disorder with agoraphobia; however, the DSM-V has made a clear distinction between agoraphobia vs panic disorder. When it comes to how to stop panic attacks or seeking panic attack help, it can be very difficult due to the fact that both agoraphobia and panic disorder can provoke one another. Furthermore, panic disorders have only been exacerbated through the current state of the world with “covid panic” becoming a reality. Mental health awareness is very important because that is when things like agoraphobia recovery stories become possible.
