Prince once compared "Purple Rain" to his own “albatross,” saying it’d be hanging from his neck until he stopped making music. What a weird thing to say about his biggest song. In his defense, he was speaking of the movie of the same title as well, which received vigorous backlash. Maybe that was exactly what he meant, meaning there was a lot of pressure that came along with its success. With an initial number 6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the UK and number 4 in the United States, it was a huge part of his career and he even performed it during half time at the Super Bowl back in 2007. "Purple Rain" was also the very last song that Prince performed in 2016 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. He died a week afterward. The iconic song was structured to tell a story and was part of the soundtrack to the first movie that Prince made. The soundtrack featured “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy”. It won him an Oscar for Best Original Song Score. "Purple Rain" centers on a struggling frontman of a band, the Revolution who won’t ever play the music written by his bandmates, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman (Wendy and Lisa were Prince’s real-life band members). Until they wrote Purple Rain which is played at the end when The Revolution is in a band war with another band. Purple Rain is a love song, actually written by Prince himself. Initially, however, it wasn’t his plan to perform it alone. "Purple Rain" was initially supposed to be a collaborative country song with Fleetwood Mac singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks. The rock and roll legend received the 10-minute instrumental version but was unable to contribute. She said that the song was too big for her. She called it epic and apologized for not being able to come up with any lyrics or vocals for it. Sometime after Nicks withdrew, Prince and his band practiced it for six-hour straight one day and developed the heavier song arrangement, later recorded it at the First Avenue night club in Minneapolis. According to Prince, the song meaning related to when there is “blood in the sky – red and blue = purple… purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/god guide you through the purple rain.” So, technically we can say that yes, it is a love song. The infamous serial killer targeted at least 30 young women and stunned the whole nation with his sociopathy and crimes. As true crime centered entertainment continues to rise in popularity, it keeps people intrigued and asking questions about people like Bundy and their family. A movie starring Zac Efron “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” and a Netflix Documentary, “The Ted Bundy Tapes” detailing the serial killer’s life have given Bundy and his intense life a second wind. People want to know about his life, his wife, and his daughter, Rose, also known as Rosa. It’s said that his daughter Rose was conceived on death row. Carole Ann Boone was in attendance at his trial in Orlando, acted as a character witness, and even moved to Gainesville, Florida to be nearer to him. Ted Bundy proposed to Carole Boone on the stand and they were married in front of the judge. So, you’re in prison and get sent to death row, where do you and your new wife seal the marriage? Rumor has it that the couple paid a prison guard to turn a blind eye during conjugal visits and they consummated their marriage behind a vending machine. Other theories include Bundy’s wife sneaking a condom to him and him returning it to her *full* with a kiss. Rose Bundy was born on October 24, 1982, and was Bundy's first biological child. Since he was serving a triple death sentence, Boone brought Ted's daughter to visit her father in prison. However, it only lasted a short amount of time. Three years before Bundy died, his wife divorced him and took the kids and never spoke to him again. Ted Bundy’s daughter’s whereabouts to this day can’t be pinned down. After the divorce and move, Carole Anne remarried and took her new husband’s last name. Rose took his name, too. They disappeared from the public eye and have remained anonymous. Post-marital friendships are a trending thing of the now. There’s an old adage about being friends with your ex and how you shouldn’t do it, but what if the break-up wasn’t personal, or a discrepancy. What if their sexual preference just changed? What would you do? Could you remain friends with them? Well, this exact thing happened to Fran Drescher, the beloved star of the CBS TV series, The Nanny. Actress Fran Drescher and ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson met in high school when they were 15. The high school sweethearts became close: first best friends, then lovers. A few years after they finished high school, they married in 1978. They both attended and later dropped out of Queens University and they soon started working together on "The Nanny." Fran, as we all know, was the star. What you might not know is that her then-husband Peter wrote, directed, and produced the show. In 1996, they announced their separation and by 1999, they were officially divorced after which Peter came out as gay. The couple did not speak in the interim, despite their 21-year marriage, but Peter initiated contact a year later upon hearing Fran was diagnosed with uterine cancer. From there, they slowly started rebuilding a relationship. By 2011, they were working together on another Hollywood TV show. The sitcom was loosely based on their own relationship and set in a home similar to the one they shared in Los Angeles. The show was called "Happily Divorced" and ran for two seasons on TV Land. They worked as co-executive producers on the show and played the lead characters. The premise followed a woman and her gay ex-husband living together in the same house, which thankfully, was not something they actually encountered. Post-Happily Divorced, the co-stars have remained close friends – at times referring to themselves as best friends, even. Are Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder's really married? According to Stranger Things star Winona Ryder, the co-stars might actually be married in real life! While promoting their romantic comedy Destination Wedding, the Heathers star revealed that their ‘movie love’ might extend off-screen, because she believes the couple had a real wedding back in 1992, while filming Bram Stoker’s Dracula. John Wick is officially hitched. What’s even better than that? Well, last year director Francis Ford Coppola apparently used a real Romanian priest, and he actually confirmed the marriage! The director of 'Dracula' stated he was unhappy with a stylized version of the wedding scene and decided that having a real wedding ceremony, focusing on the Greek Orthodox Church. In an interview with The Guardian, Coppola stated, “We actually did the ceremony and had the priest do the ceremony. So in a sense, when we were all done, we realized that Keanu and Winona really are married as a result of this scene and this ceremony.” If they are married, well, there’s hope for the future! Put it this way, the two already have footage of their full ceremony, with of course the whole death of a vampire thing, but hey, it’s a wedding right! Crazy stuff always happens at a wedding. We aren’t the only ones that are living for this new information, fans love the idea of our favorite 90’s couple on-screen, and maybe now off-screen, actually being married! I think Hollywood writers seriously need to write another rom-com about this. Two actors, one movie, fake marriage turns real marriage and lived happily ever after. The Granite Mountain Hotshots are remembered as a jovial volunteer firefighting crew who died to protect the homes of those in potential danger during the Yarnell Hill fire of 2013. Since then, the fallen firefighters have been honored in multiple ways, from their local communities to blockbuster movies. The Yarnell Hill fire had begun on a Friday night in June of 2013. Nobody knew it at the time, but it was one of the deadliest wildfires to occur in the last decade. Not only was Arizona experiencing one of it’s worst droughts, but the dry chaparral was overgrown and hard to maneuver through. The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew, a team of expert firefighters within the Prescott fire department trained in unruly wildland firefighting, were sent to the site. Unfortunately, they never returned. The crew members were in an area that was supposed to be safe, baptized as the safety zone. It was also called “the black” area since it was already burned and unlikely to be burned again. Nineteen out of twenty of the hotshots were there deploying emergency fire shelters. But the wind wasn’t kind and pushed the fires onto the overgrown chaparral. The fire overtook the firemen after it isolated them from their planned excavation route. The members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots gave their lives to protect those in danger. The firefighters who tragically died are the following: Andrew Ashcraft, Anthony Rose, Christopher MacKenzie, Clayton Whitted, Dustin Deford, Eric Marsh, Garret Zuppiger, Grant McKee, Jesse Steed, Joe Thurston, John Percin, Kevin Woyjeck, Robert Caldwell, Scott Norris, Sean Misner, Travis Carter, Travis Turbyfill, Wade Parker, and William Warneke. The members of the granite mountain hotshots are memorialized in the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park. The park includes a hiking trail built for extreme adventurers, such as the fallen firefighters. The hiking trail travels over 1,000 up the side of the exact mountain that the crew members died on that day. There are nineteen plaques along the hike to honor each team member. Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold’s bestselling novel The Lovely Bones was originally slated to have the La La Land actor featured as Jack Salmon. Gosling was mentally invested in the character and physically committed to the role. In his mind, the grieving father was 210 lbs. So, he did what he could to get himself there. “Doing what he could” consisted of melting and drinking Haagen Daz Ice cream when he was thirsty. According to Ryan Gosling, Peter Jackson did not agree with his view of the character and dropped him in 2007 right before production began. Hired at 150 pounds, Gosling put on sixty pounds and showed up for production weighing 210 pounds! Peter Jackson was not on board with that. There are two sides to the story, apparently. Gosling stated, “We didn’t talk very much during the preproduction process, which was the problem…It was a huge movie, and there are so many things to deal with… I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong.” Peter Jackson’s wife, Fran Walsh, on the other hand, gave told a slightly different story to The Hollywood Reporter. Her side of the story stated, “Ryan came to us two or three times and said, ‘I’m not the right person for this role. I’m too young”. In response, they told him, “No, no, no. We can age you up. We can thin your hair.’ We were very keen…It wasn’t until we were in preproduction and we had the cast there that it became increasingly clear." Apparently, the movie star was so uncomfortable moving forward with the production, that producers began to feel like he as not right for the work. She continued, “It was our blindness, the desire to make it work no matter what.” So, as we all know, The Lovely Bones moved forward with Mark Wahlberg in the role of Susie Salmon’s father. There’s nothing like a feud to ruin your day or your dream job. This is exactly what happened to Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds. Did you know that during the casting of "The Godfather," there was a bit of drama with Marlon Brando and Reynolds? Believe it or not, the directors of "The Godfather" were considering casting the late Burt Reynolds for the role of Michael Corleone. Unfortunately, the only thing standing in the way of this casting was Marlon Brando's hatred for Reynold which is why Francis Ford Coppola was in quite a stump. So much so, that Brando once decided to rip apart Reynolds while on the set of "Apocalypse Now" (years later) stating, “He (Reynolds) is the epitome of something that makes me want to throw up. He is the epitome of everything that is disgusting about the thespian, he worships at the temple of his own narcissism.” Brando even went as far as to say that he was going to quit the film if Reynolds played Michael Corleone or any other role in the movie. But, Reynolds was allegedly “flattered” by the fact that Brando was so upset by the potential of his presence in the box office hit. So, as we all know, Reynolds was not in the film. Michael Corleone was ultimately played by Al Pacino. As for Brando, well, he went on to win an Oscar for his performance in the film. This wasn’t the first or last of very successful films that the Hollywood movie star passed on. In an interview on “Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live” he discussed having passed on the roles of Han Solo in Star Wars, portrayed by Harrison Ford, Edward Lewis in Pretty Woman which went to Richard Gere, and even Jack Nicholson’s role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He also explained how he turned down the opportunity to play the original James Bond because he thought that an American should not have taken on the role. Reynolds was also set to star in Nicholson’s role in Terms of Endearment, for which Nicholson won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Actress Natalie Wood quickly became one of the best actresses in Hollywood starring in 'Miracle on 34th Street,' 'West Side Story,' and 'Rebel Without Cause.' On November 29, 1981, Wood's body was found floating in the Pacific Ocean near California's Catalina Island wearing a red down jacket and flannel nightgown. Wood was spending Thanksgiving weekend aboard her yacht with her husband, actor Robert Wagner, co-star Christopher Walken, and the ship's captain Dennis Davern. After an autopsy was conducted, the medical examiner's determined the Academy Award nominee's cause of death was accidental drowning and hypothermia. He also noted the Hollywood star had several bruises on her body and arms, as well as an abrasion on her left cheek. Wood's sister, Lana Wood, expressed doubts, alleging the actress couldn't swim and was terrified of dark water. She believed Wood's would have never left the yacht on her own. The case was eventually reopened in November 2011 after Davern stated he lied to police during investigations, claiming Wood and Wagner had an argument. The movie star had allegedly been flirting with Walken, and Wagner was jealous. The captain also said Wagner prevented him from turning on the searchlights and notifying authorities after Wood's disappearance. In 2012, Wood's death certificate was changed from accidental drowning to "drowning and other undetermined factors" by the County Coroner's office. Raised in Lexington, Kentucky, Hollywood heartthrob George Timothy Clooney was born into a family of well-known American entertainers, introduced to the industry at a young age. Did you know that actor Randy Quaid (Actor Dennis Quaid’s brother) and his wife, Evi Quaid are the definition of Hollywood paranoia? Randy, who was nominated for an Oscar, was best known for his Cousin Eddie character in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” movies. But, what many don't know about the couple is that they believe Hollywood actors and actresses are purposely being targeted by "Wackers." In 2009, the Quaids lost close friends, David Carradine and Heath Ledger. The Quaids claimed they were victims of “Star Whackers,” a secret cabal who they say are responsible for the deaths of both actors. They also believe Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are also targets. According to the pair, there is a group called the “Hollywood Star Whackers”. They are said to be a group consisting of Hollywood critics, lawyers and others hunting certain celebrities. Information about the Hollywood Star Whackers isn’t really available only in videos and interviews with Randy and his wife Evi themselves. To prove their theory, the pair moved from Los Angeles, California to Vancouver, Canada, where they made a film called “Star Whackers.” It’s the story about what has been happening to them over the last few years. It may include (but may not be limited to) lawsuits, court dates, court hearings, arrest warrants, handcuffs, naked aggressive emails, family fights, on set fights, and even Randy Quaid being banned from the Actors Equity and the Screen Actors Guild. To further enhance their theory, the couple hired Becky Altringer, a Los Angeles private eye. Altringer determined the things the Quaids claimed happened to them, like the lawsuit from skipping out on a Santa Barbara hotel bill and close friends passing around the same time, was all an elaborate plot by the duo. After filing three lawsuits in small claims against the Quaids, for non-payment of more than $15,000 she ultimately claimed there was no mob and nobody was out to kill them. Blaming the whole incident on coincidence, she believed all actors died at their own hands. When she tried to tell the Quaids what she found, they tried to claim she was lying. Elton John is finally spilling all the secrets he can because he just can’t hold them in anymore. According to the ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer, Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone nearly got in a fight over his great friend Diana, Princess of Wales! The incident took place at a dinner party given by John and David Furnish for Walt Disney Studios Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg who had recently commissioned Sir Elton John to write the music for The Lion King. In his new memoir, Me: Elton John Official Autobiography, he writes how actor Richard Gere had just split from Cindy Crawford and Princess Diana has just split from Prince Charles, which left the door wide open for new relationships. The two were reportedly having a deep deep conversation in front of the fireplace, while the hunky Hollywood favorite Sylvester Stallone was looking over in a jealous rage. When the rest of the guests went to sit down for dinner, Stallone and Gere reportedly stayed behind to “settle their differences” over the Princess by having a literal fistfight. After dinner, the Pretty Woman superstar and Diana (charming as ever) resumed their flirting which promoted in Stallone storming out of the room. According to John, Stallone angrily stated, “I never would have come if I’d known Prince f- -kin’ Charming was gonna be here. If I’d wanted her, I would’ve taken her!” All while this was happening, Princess Diana was “completely unruffled,” because, well, I’m sure she was used to men daydreaming about her all the time. There still isn't word if the two ended up falling out or not, but we can understand why they fought in the first place. I wonder if Queen Elizabeth or the rest of the Royal Family knows about this? Way before Britney Spears had her own residency show in Las Vegas, the 90s teen pop star was ruling Billboard charts. Both “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops, I Did It Again” were the number one songs for weeks after their release. The bubblegum pop hit, "...Baby One More Time" was written by a songwriter from Sweden. Producer Max Martin wasn't quite known back then, but little did he know would later become the genius behind successful pop bands, creating number one hits such as Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way," and NSYNC's "It's Gonna Be Me." During his work with Spears, who was a 16-year-old from Louisiana, he was the understudy of Denniz Pop at Jive Records. After hearing Britney Spears sing they gave her a deal nearly on the spot and started working on music for her. Martin became the voice behind her songs, with "Hit Me Baby One More Time" being the first record to be produced for Spears' debut album in Sweden. Britney wasn’t the first artist to be given the song. The song was first written for TLC, but the group gave it a hard pass since soda pop wasn't really their style. This might have been for the same reason that most radio stations were trying to pass on giving the song any air time before it came out. Several executives didn't agree with the “hit me” part in the chorus, comparing it to domestic violence, which is why the title was changed to ”…Baby One More Time”. The music video hit featuring the former Mouseketeer as a schoolgirl dancing around, midriff bared in a high school. It premiered on MTV and went immediately straight to number one. Don Shipley is an ex-Navy SEAL. He isn’t hunting down people telling mundane white lies, he is tracking down people who lie about being Navy SEALs. Apparently, lying about being a Navy SEAL. According to the FBI, there are 300 times more fake SEALs than there are legitimate ones. Navy SEAL Don Shipley is trying to put a stop to that. Shipley's military records state he served in the navy for five years before joining the Seals. After serving on multiple SEAL teams including SEAL Team One, SEAL Team Two, the Naval Special Warfare Center, and Naval Special Warfare Group Two, Shipley worked as a Seal training instructor. This career spanned for almost thirty years. Post military life for Shipley consisted heavily of the Extreme SEAL Experience, which he headed with other former navy seals. Extreme SEAL Experience was meant to train potential SEALs and anyone interested in experiencing the training United States Navy SEALs endures. Founded in 1992, the small program later grew to a larger program to prepare individuals showing interest in the Naval Special Warfare. Outside of uniform, Don Shipley is known for his public pursuit of US Navy Seal imposters. Alongside his wife, Diane, he produced popular YouTube videos. These videos, posted to a now-defunct Youtube channel consisted of hunting a “Phony Navy SEAL of the Week”. In the videos, he called individuals claiming to work for the government organization and questioned them to determine stolen valor and the extent of the phony SEAL’s lies. The Youtube channel shut down in February 2019. Shipley believes if to be for exposing activist Nathan Phillips, who had previously claimed to be a Vietnam vet and “recon ranger”. In reality, Nathan Phillips only served in the Marine Corps Reserve and did not see any active duty. After his channel was shut down, Shipley simply moved the videos to his website, Extreme SEAL Videos. In his imposter-free spare time, Shipley also produces films. Father of actor Woody Harrelson, Charles Harrelson put his family in the spotlight in the opposite way of his son, causing scrutiny and plenty of scandals. Versatile, Texas-born actor Woody Harrelson, seen in box office hits like Natural Born Killers, Seven Pounds, and Zombieland along with hit TV shows like True Detective and Cheers, was raised by his single mother, Diane Oswald. Meanwhile, his father was out in the world causing chaos. His father was the notorious and controversial Charles V. Harrelson, and in case you don’t already know, he was a hitman. Charles Voyde Harrelson was born in Lovelady, Texas in 1938. He left Texas to join the Navy, and shortly after found his way to Los Angeles. This is where he met, married, and had three sons with Diane Lou Oswald, Woody’s mother. It’s assumed that his contract killer career notches upwards of 20 people for his organized crimes. However, he’s only charged for two of them. Harrelson’s biggest kill was ordered by El Paso drug lord/ kingpin, Jamiel Chagra. Chagra was essentially staring down a life sentence for drug smuggling. He hadn’t gone to court yet, but he was set to appear in front of U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr. in the summer of 1979. The original court date was May 29, 1979, but got rescheduled. However, the judge was found dead near his car at his San Antonio home on that exact date. Chagra paid Harrelson $250,000 to kill U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr. aka “Maximum John.” Harrelson also killed a Texas grain dealer, Sam Degelia, at the request of his business partner. He was tried for the murder and sentenced 15 years in prison, he walked free 5 later right after that was when he killed Judge Wood. It took the FBI years and grueling $11 million FBI investigation to uncover who-done-it and then find Harrelson. After his multiple arrests, Harrelson admitted twice to having fired the shot that killed President John F. Kennedy. He later blamed the statement on being high and trying to land big jobs and make money. Conspiracy theorists took his words and ran with it, claiming him to be one of the “three ramps” involved in the JFK 1995 murder. Woody Harrelson’s dad and he hadn’t crossed paths since he was 7. So, the actor didn’t know about his father’s profession until he happened to hear the news on the radio and inquired to his mother. Well into adulthood, Woody Harrelson made an attempt to befriend his father. He visited him and at one point and spent a couple million in attempts to get his father a retrial. Unfortunately, Woody Harrelson’s father never saw that retrial. He died serving his prison sentence in 2007 of a heart attack. Not before he attempted to escape Atlanta Federal Penitentiary in 1995, which failed and resulted in him being transferred to the Colorado Supermax federal prison, ADX Florence, with the likes of the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski. Weather predictions are officially in! Get ready for a winter full of wild temperature swings and some crazy precipitation too. The Farmer’s Almanac for 2020 is out and it’s predicting a winter that it describes as a “Polar Coaster Winter”. Snowfall is going to be a big factor in the winter wildness too according to America’s most trusted weather forecast. Expect greater than average sleet and snow across the eastern third of the country, making things especially frosty. The Great Plains, Midwest, and the Great Lakes are also going to get hit hard. The west coast — from the southwest and California to the Pacific Northwest — should see relatively normal precipitation levels and normal temperatures. The coldest outbreak by far is going to be right up through the middle of the country, from the Texas Panhandle through the northern plains and up to the Great Lakes. Specifically, the Almanac predicts that late January, or maybe as late as the beginning of February, the entire region is going to get hit with powerful thunderstorms. The storm is going to drag arctic air into the middle of the country and cause temperatures to plummet. New England will have colder than usual temperatures as well for much of the winter as well, and that region too will see a wintry mix of rain and hefty snowfalls. Oh, and don’t expect spring to bail you out. It’s coming late. The Almanac is calling for a slow-starting spring and a long, arduous thawing process.
