‘Wheel of Fortune’ Hostess Vanna White Posed For Playboy to Pay Rent
Vanna White has been gracing our screens for years as the famous letter-turner and co-host on the beloved game show Wheel of Fortune, alongside Pat Sajak. She has been the beautiful, charming television personality of the show since 1982! But before she ever hit the TV screen, she was actually a contestant in the Miss Georgia 1978 pageant. So no wonder the 64-year-old’s stunning outfits and grace have made her one of the most well-known game co-hosts for more than 30 years.
Born in South Carolina, Vanna White was born Vanna Marie Angel, near North Myrtle Beach, in Conway, South Carolina, in 1957. She attended the Atlanta School of Fashion in Atlanta, Georgia after high school and worked as a model. Shortly afterward she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and the red carpet. She landed a few minor acting roles in Gypsy Angels, Graduation Day, Looker, and Star of the Family in the early 1980’s.
Around this time she was also a contestant on The Price is Right. (Does it count as cheating if she hadn’t been on Wheel of Fortune yet? Either way, it just doesn’t feel right!) Sporting a blue shirt that read “Get Serious”, she charmed the crowd, contestants, and even Bob Barker. Sadly, she never made it off the “Contestant’s Row,” and bid way too high on prizes!
Vanna White auditioned against over 200 other hopefuls to land the gig of hostess on NBC game show Wheel of Fortune in 1982. Within a short time, she struck stardom gold. Endorsements came, and she starred in Venus: The Goddess of Love, an NBC movie. Weird Al Yankovic wrote a song called “Stuck In A Closet With Vanna White” on his 1988 album Even Worse. She also appeared as a minor character on the Nintendo 64 game “Paper Mario” named Vanna T.
In 1987, some Wheel of Fortune viewers were shocked to see that White was actually staring back at them from the cover of an issue of Playboy magazine. To which yes, inside were some very intriguing seminude photos of White. While fans were very puzzled by her career choice, however, she didn’t actually agree to appear in the magazine itself. Hugh Hefner had bought the publication of the photographs that she had agreed to pose for in 1982, prior to being hired for the game show. Why did she decide to pose for the magazine?
Well, according to the Washington Post, she needed to do the shoot to pay for rent when she left her hometown of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to pursue her career in Los Angeles. A 60-year-old at the time, she told Fox News, “When I first moved to Hollywood, I was too embarrassed to ask my dad for rent money. I was young and I wanted to do it on my own. So, I did these lingerie shots and from the moment I said I would do them, I thought, ‘I shouldn’t be doing this, but I’m not going to ask my dad for money, so I’m just going to do it!'”
With headlines that preceded her Playboy debut adoring her saying, “How much Vanna can we Stanna?” she had also expressed her concerns about being on the cover of the magazine to Johnny Carson, saying, ‘I’m so sorry . . . I made a mistake, I’m sorry and I just hope I don’t lose my job over it.'”
After Merv Griffin hired her to be the official letter-turner on Wheel of Fortune, she begged Hugh Hefner for the non-publication of the pictures, desiring to stay away from turning into a centerfold. She even wounded up suing the magazine for $5.2 million for tarnishing her “family audience” image, suing Hefner personally. But of course, due to how big the franchise was and Playboy’s promotion efforts, she quickly decided to drop both suits.

Meet Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Love Child: Joseph Baena
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s affair with the nanny rocked Hollywood back in 2011. The former governor of California had been married to Maria Shriver for 25 years by the time this illicit romance came to light. Americans were shocked to hear that Mildred Patricia Baena, an employee of the Schwarzenegger household, had in fact given birth to Schwarzenegger’s son 14 years earlier. Now that the scandal has passed, meet Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Joseph Baena.
Arnold Schwarzenegger had four children with his ex-wife Maria Shriver: Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher. The youngest, Christopher, was born in 1997… the same year as Schwarzenegger’s illegitimate son Joseph. In fact, the boys are less than one week apart in age! Patrick Schwarzenegger was born on September 27, 1997. Just five days later, Joseph Baena was born.
During a Sixty Minutes interview in 2012, Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed that he did not realize Joseph Baena was biologically his until the boy “started looking like me, that’s when I kind of got it. I put things together.” By that point, Baena was seven or eight years old. Immediately, Schwarzenegger began financially providing for the Baenas. In 2010, he bought t a four-bedroom house in Bakersfield, California for the mother and son. At the start of 2011, Schwarzenegger left public office and Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that he revealed the truth to Maria Shriver at this time. On May 9, 2011, the couple split with Shriver moving out of their Brentwood mansion. The following week, The Los Angeles Times broke the salacious story of Schwarzenegger’s secret love child broke.
As the son of Mildred Baena, the Schwarznegger housekeeper, Joseph grew up around the Schwarzenegger family and estate. An anonymous source told Page Six that while daughters Katherine and Christine have virtually no relationship with their half-sibling Joseph, the younger sons are presumably closer with him. Joseph was noticeably not present at his half-sister’s wedding to Chris Pratt in 2019. Regardless of the brush-off, Jospeph commented sweetly on Katherine’s Instagram photo: “Congratulations!” followed by fun emojis.
Whether or not Baena is fully accepted by the entire family, Arnold Schwarzenegger does not shy from publicly embracing his son on social media. Despite the years of secrecy, Baena appears to have a great relationship with his famous father. On Baena’s birthday, Schwarzenegger wrote: “Happy birthday, Joseph. Great student, great athlete. I’m so proud of you and I love you!” See below, a proud shot of the pair from Baena’s graduation at Pepperdine University in 2019. At college, Baena studied business.
Other online pics of Joseph Baena reveal insight into his personality. And of all the Schwarzenegger children, it seems like the youngest son most takes after dad. Baena’s passion is bodybuilding and his Instagram includes many Mr. Olympia-lookalike photos, with Baena and friends flexing at the gym. Even during the pandemic, there they are, bench-pressing in face masks. In one trending photo, Joseph recreates a moment from Pumping Iron directly. All in all, a bodybuilder-business man seems exactly like the kind of son you’d imagine for the Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger. With age, we look forward to Baena gaining more time in the spotlight. After a childhood spent hiding his identity, he deserves it.

The Real-Life Story Behind “American Sniper” Chris Kyle
The story of Chris Kyle, a United States Navy SEAL sniper, became a national fascination when Kyle published the controversial memoir American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History in 2012. Clint Eastwood‘s critically acclaimed adaptation premiered two years later. But Kyle never got to see the story of his life on screen. He was murdered on February 2, 2013, at the Rough Creek Lodge shooting range in Erath County, Texas.
Chris Kyle was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He attended high school in Midlothian, Texas, and graduated in 1992. In 1999, Kyle intended to enlist in the Marine Corps special operations but was convinced by a recruiter to become a U.S. Navy SEAL. He graduated from basic training in 2001. Kyle quickly earned a reputation for being a good, and ruthless shot. During his deployment in Ramadi, local insurgents called Kyle “The Devil of Ramadi” and put a large bounty on his head. American troops, on the other hand, referred to Kyle as “The Legend.” The nickname originated while Kyle trained other snipers in Fallujah.
Chris Kyle completed four tours of duty in the Iraq War, during which time he was shot twice and survived multiple IED detonations. The FBI confirmed more than 150 of Kyle’s total kills, making him the deadliest sniper in the Iraq War and quite possibly setting the record for any American sniper. Upon discharge, Kyle was awarded two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars with valor, though the Navy later revised it to one Silver Star and four Bronze Stars with valor.
In 2009, Chris Kyle left the SEAL team in Iraq and moved to Midlothian, Texas, with his wife, Taya Kyle, and their two children. He became the president of Craft International, a tactical training company. In 2012, his memoir American Sniper was published by HarperCollins. Kyle’s frank writing style, co-authored Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice, connected with readers who found the account to be authentically blunt. The book also presented itself as being rigorously fact-checked, although some allegations of fabrication have come up. (One man involved, Jesse Ventura, sued Kyle for defamation; it was settled out of court. Regardless, the book became a massive commercial success. American Sniper remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 27 weeks. Following the fame, Kyle paired with the military nonprofit FITCO Cares Foundation.
On February 2, 2013, Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were shot and killed by Eddie Ray Routh at the shooting range of the Rough Creek Ranch-Lodge-Resort in Erath County, Texas. Routh was a 25-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran suffering from PTSD. Reports say that Kyle and Littlefield had taken the young man with them to the gun range in an effort to help him alleviate the mental trauma. In the end, it was Kyle’s guns that were used to murder both him and his friend. Although Kyle and Littlefield, too, were armed at the time, they were not able to unholster their guns and protect themselves.
Eddy Ray Routh had been suffered from not only PTSD but schizophrenia and had been hospitalized intermittently. Texts reveal that while driving to the shooting range, Chris Kyle texted Chad Littlefield, “This dude is straight-up nuts.” Littlefield’s response: “Watch my six.” (Military slang for “Watch my back.”) Clearly, Kyle and Littlefield sensed the true danger of shooting partners. But it was not enough. While he was in his jail, Routh said: “I was just riding in the back seat of the truck, and nobody would talk to me. They were just taking me to the range, so I shot them. I feel bad about it, but they wouldn’t talk to me. I’m sure they’ve forgiven me.” Eddy Ray Routh was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole.

Meet Former President Barack Obama’s Family
Okay, so we all remember the Obama family. But with the former vice president Joe Biden now entering the White House, it’s hard not to compare this moment with 2008. When George W. Bush was on his way out and slogans like HOPE and CHANGE and YES WE CAN dominate. That’s when a fresh first family was introduced to our country.
The Way I See It, a recent documentary about White House photographer Pete Souza, has reminded viewers about what those eight years looked like at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. For many, those were touching images. Pictures of our first family — the children, the events, the candid smiles — can define the national mood. So what is Barack Obama’s beautiful family up to now? Plus: read on for Obama’s year-end 2020 picks.
Our first African American president Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother Ann Dunham was originally from Kansas, and met his father, Barack Obama Sr., in a local class at the University of Hawaii. Obama Sr. was a visiting Kenyan student, and he married Dunham six months before the birth of young Barack. However, the marriage only lasted a few years. Obama’s father eventually returned to Kenya and died in a car accident when his son was just 21 years old. This fractured relationship is explored in Barack Obama’s memoir, Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. His new memoir, A Promised Land, is out now.
Barack Obama’s mother remarried to Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian grad student, and had a daughter, Obama’s half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng. When the family relocated to Indonesia more permanently, Obama stayed behind in Hawaii with his maternal grandparents for high school. He went on to attend Occidental College then transferred to Columbia University in New York City to study political science. Later, as a law student at Harvard University, Obama became president of The Harvard Law Review. In 1989, he met his future wife Michelle Robinson while working at the Chicago law firm, Sidley Austin. Robinson was Obama’s temporary adviser and by the end of the summer, they were dating. On October 3, 1992, they were married and ready to begin their own family.
Michelle Obama (née Robinson), wife to the 44th president of the United States, was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Fraser Robinson III, was a city water plant employee and Democrat precinct captain. Her mother, Marian Shields, would eventually join her daughter in the White House. Growing up in the city’s historic South Shore neighborhood, Michelle Robinson attended Chicago’s first magnet high school, Whitney Young. (So did the author of this article!) She graduated as her class salutatorian in 1981.
Like her older brother Craig Robinson, the future Mrs. Obama attended Princeton University and later, Harvard University for post-grad. However, she and Barack Obama did not overlap at Harvard Law School. Michelle would not meet Barack until he came to work in Chicago, and she would not succumb to his charms until seeing in action at a community organizers meeting in the summer of 1989. The pair married in 1992, and using Vitro fertilization, the Obamas had their first daughter Malia Ann in 1998, then Natasha, known as Sasha, in 2001.
As a professional mother, Michelle Obama and her husband, the budding politician, raised their young family on the South Side of Chicago for many years. During her husband’s 2008 bid for president against Republican senator John McCain, Michelle struggled to aid him on the campaign trail while remaining available for their two young daughters Sasha and Malia. But the hard work paid off; the Obamas moved into the White House in 2009 and Michelle Obama went on to become one the most beloved and relatable (and stylish) First Lady in the history of the United States.
Since leaving office, Michelle Obama and her husband entered a contract to produce a wide variety of material for Netflix. Becoming, the documentary about Michelle’s life inspired by her eponymous memoir is out now.
The Obama daughters Malia and Sasha were just little kids when their father left the U.S. Senate to become America’s Commander in Chief. Eldest daughter Malia Ann Obama was born in 1998. She lived her entire adolescence under the media scrutiny of the presidency. Having attended the University of Chicago Lab School until the family’s move to Washington D.C., Malia then enrolled in the local Quaker institution, Sidwell Friends School. She currently attends Harvard University, after taking a gap year in 2016. This makes Malia Obama a current college senior — meaning she’s continuing her studies online at the moment.
Malia Obama’s boyfriend, Rory Farquharson, is a fellow Harvard student. (The British international student hails from an extremely wealthy investing family across the pond.) Farquharson even quarantined with Malia and her family at the start of the coronavirus pandemic! Speaking of the experience on The Bill Simmons Podcast, the former president said “I didn’t want to like him, but he’s a good kid.”
Natasha “Sasha” Obama was born in 2001. Like her older sister, she attended The University of Chicago Lab School and the Sidwell Friends School before setting off to college. Departing from the family’s Ivy League tradition, the youngest Obama chose the University of Michigan for her studies. She is currently a sophomore at the school. Sasha made news recently for her presence on social media platform TikTok, which features her dancing alongside friends. Although the media dragged these quick videos as inappropriate, they are… extremely PG. See for yourself below.
Like so many American college students, Sasha Obama was forced to pack it up from the dorms last spring and join her family in Covid lockdown. But for Sasha Obama, living at home is pretty sweet. In 2018, her mom Michelle revealed their post-White House set-up on Ellen, saying that Sasha has the biggest suite in the house, which includes her own living room. The Obama family now resides permanently just outside of Washington D.C., although they do keep a sprawling vacation property in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
And of course, there was the Obama dogs. Their first Portuguese Water Dog, Bo, was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy. Bo joined the Obama family when he was just a puppy, for Barack Obama’s inauguration. His energetic (occasionally mischievous) demeanor, goofy grin, and adorable white spots led to a fantastic surge in the breed. For the second term, Bo got a sister: Sunny. (See the pics below.) These two were sorely missed when Barack Obama left office in 2016. Soon, two new buddies will enter the coveted position of First Dog: Joe Biden’s German Shepherds, Chance, and Major.

Jimmy Fallon’s Net Worth Makes Him Late-Night Talk Show’s Cash King
Decades before his rise to fame, Jimmy Fallon was named “Most Likely to Replace David Letterman” in his eighth-grade yearbook.
The American comedian hasn’t exactly replaced David Letterman, but Fallon does host a talk show of his own: the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And according to recent estimates, Fallon is the highest-paid late-night talk show host in the United States. In this article, we’ll chronicle the comedian’s ascent to late-night greatness.
Jimmy Fallon: The Early Years
On September 19, 1974, James Thomas Fallon was born in Brooklyn, New York to James W. Fallon and Gloria. The Fallon family is Roman Catholic and Fallon served as an altar boy for many years — and even considered becoming a priest. Luckily for his fans, Fallon’s love of comedy outweighed his priestly ambitions. From a young age, Jimmy had a knack for impression. As children, the future television host and his sister Gloria would act on scenes from Saturday Night Live. When he was old enough, Jimmy took his celebrity impersonations on the road when he started performing standup at venues nationwide.
In 1995, Fallon dropped out of College of Saint Rose to move to Los Angeles and pursue comedy full-time. He secured a manager and got bookings at the age of 21. That’s where he would often do standup at the Improv, earning a minimum of $7.50 per set, joining classes with The Groundlings. After two years with the Groundlings he auditioned for SNL in 1997 but, unfortunately, was unsuccessful. But, he was cast in a pilot for The WB, making sure to include a clause saying if he were to join SNL he would be released from his contract. That’s when his managers send several videotapes to SNL producers.
Fallon on “Saturday Night Live”
After appearing on the show Spin City, he landed an audition with SNL. He impressed Lorne Michaels with his impressions of SNL alumni like Adam Sandler and Jerry Seinfeld and got the gig. Fallon was a cast member on the NBC show from 1998 to 2004. From 2001 to 2004, Fallon famously co-hosted the SNL “Weekend Update” with fellow cast member Tina Fey. He quickly became what some could say a ‘charm bate’ gaining a large female fan base, becoming the program’s most featured mimic. He would do popular impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, Howard Stern, and Robert Deniro.
During his time with SNL, he released a book comprising several email exchanges with his sister Gloria, titled “I Hate This Place: A Pessimist’s Guite to Life,” and filmed a minor role for Almost Famous. He also co-hosted the 2001 and 2002 MTV Movie Awards and recorded his debut comedy album, The Bathroom Wall which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. He was later on named People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2002. Fallon began to pursue a movie career in 2004. His first lead role was in Taxi, co-starring Queen Latifah. He was apparently attracted to the film’s action-comedy tone, comparing wi with Eddie Murphy’s 48 Hrs. His second major role starred opposite Drew Barrymore in 2005 in the romantic comedy Fever Pitch.
“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”
Prior to leaving SNL, producer Lorne Michaels had mentioned to Fallon that he would be a great fit to take over NBC’s Late Night franchise when Conan O’Brien would depart to host the Tonight Show in the future. Michaels then urged NBC to give Fallon a deal so that other networks wouldn’t lure him their way. He aired his first show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, on NBC in 2009. The reviews were mixed, but Fallon did manage to prove himself different from other late-night hosts, with more dancing, games, music, and impersonation.
As of August 2013, it was said that Fallon’s earning salary was $11 million a year during his time on Late Night. He even went on to host the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards in 2010. He later won a Grammy in 2013 for Best Comedy Album for “Blow Your Pants Off.” The show ran until 2014 when Fallon kicked off his second late-night talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He succeeded Jay Leno and became the sixth permanent host of The Tonight Show, debuting on February 17, 2014, with 11.3 million viewers. The rest is history.
What Is Jimmy Fallon’s Net Worth?
In 2020, Jimmy Fallon’s net worth is estimated to be $60 million. His estimated annual salary of $16 million makes him one of the richest comedians, along with Stephen Colbert ($15 million), Jimmy Kimmel ($15 million), and Conan O’Brien (12 million). It really doesn’t surprise us since the host is an actor, comedian, producer, television host, and writer. Plus let’s not forget his Primetime Emmy Awards. As far as his personal life, Fallon met his wife Nancy Juvonen on the set of SNL, proposed in 2007, and married in 2007. They have two daughters, Frances Cole and Winnie.

Mick Jagger Claims to Have Slept With More Than 4,000 Women in his Lifetime
When it comes to love, Mick Jagger ‘can’t get no satisfaction.’ The lead singer and guitarist for The Rolling Stones had romances with a long line of beautiful women and claims to have slept with more than 4,000 ladies in his lifetime.
But while the vast majority of the 77-year-old rocker’s past escapades didn’t stand the test of time, his sexual relationships did leave behind lasting relics: eight talented Jagger children. That’s right. The Rolling Stones frontman has fathered eight children with five different mothers (and counting.) Here’s what you need to know about these talented kids.
Mick Jagger and Marsha Hunt’s Child
Born October 4, 1970, Karis Hunt Jagger is Mick’s first and only child with model/actress Marsha Hunt, who the rock star dated in his early 20s. Karis has a degree in modern history from Yale and has worked as a philanthropist and volunteer teacher. In 2000, Mick gave his eldest daughter away to actor Johnathan Watson. The couple has two children: Zak and Mazie.
Mick Jagger and Bianca Jagger’s Child
Mick’s next eldest child, Jade Sheena Jezebel Jagger was born on October 21, 1971. Jade is the only child of Mick and his ex-wife, actress Bianca Jagger. After growing up in the company of her father’s friends like David Bowie, Andy Warhol, and bandmate Keith Richards, Jade lived the life of a socialite. That’s until she founded Jade Jagger Inc., a successful jewelry company, in 2009. Jade has three children: Amba, Assisi, and Ray. Assisi gave birth to her daughter Ezra in 2014, making Mick into a great-grandfather.
Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s Children
Elizabeth “Lizzy” Scarlett Jagger was born on March 2, 1984, the first child of Mick and American model Jerry Hall. Like her mom, Lizzy has held a successful career in the fashion industry, modeling for brands like Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger, and Lancome.
The second child between Mick and Jerry, James Leroy Augustin Jagger was born August 28, 1985. James is the frontman of Turbogeist, a punk rock band. Mick’s eldest son has also dabbled in acting, performing in plays, and appearing in the HBO tv series, Vinyl. In 2015, James Jagger married Anoushka Sharma, a shop assistant who worked for his sister Jade’s jewelry company.
Georgia May Jagger was born on January 12, 1992, as the third child and youngest daughter of Mick and Jerry. With a massive social media following and a successful modeling career, Georgia May is probably the most well-known of Mick’s kids. The model/designer is also an ambassador for Project Zero, a global campaign working to save the ocean and fight climate change.
The final child between Mick and Jerry, Gabriel Jagger was born on December 9, 1997. In addition to being super into fitness, the teen reads and writes poetry. Unlike his older sister Georgia, Mick Jagger’s son stays away from social media.
Mick Jagger and Luciana Gimenez’s Child
Lucas Maurice Morad Jagger was born on May 18, 1999, to Mick and Brazilian model and TV host Luciana Gimenez. Mick who was still with Jerry, insisted on a paternity test. A two-year court battle over child support in addition to a painful breakup with Jerry ensued. However, Mick and his son are reportedly close, Mick even leaves dad jokes on Lucas’ Instagram pics.
Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick’s Child
At age 73, Mick welcomed his eighth child with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, a ballet dancer who is more than 40 years his junior. Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, “Dev” for short, was born on December 8, 2016. The rock ‘n’ roll legend’s youngest child currently lives with his mom in New York, where she continues to perform as a ballerina. The young Dev is technically the great uncle of Mick Jagger’s great-grandchild.

Kid Rock’s Net Worth is Definitely Rock Star Level
Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie in Romeo, Michigan, on January 17, 1971. The town was near Detroit. This proximity definitely contributed to him wanting to become a rapper later on. His mom is Susan Ritchie and his father, William Bill Ritchie, owned multiple car dealerships. He took to learning how to breakdance, and joined a crew and listened heavily to hip hop- pretty crazy for a Trump supporter eschewing black and brown people, but no one asked me. His first musical venture was in a hip hop musical group called ‘the beast crew. Later, As a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he opened for an act signed to the record label, Jive Records. This is how he was able to get his foot in the door.
He released his debut album, “Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast,” in 1990. According to Rolling Stone, the album was one of the many terrible debut albums, deeming it dull and lacking any personality.
His luck looked upward with the release of his sophomore and secondary album, “The Polyfuze Method” and “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp.” He wasn’t getting much radio play but gained a following for his sometimes hip hop, sometimes southern country rock, and other times heavy metal tunes. He signed to Atlantic Records with his band, Twisted Brown Trucker, and then released “Devil Without a Cause,” his fourth album. It sold over 14 million copies; the biggest single was “Bawitdaba.” He toured Woodstock in 1999 and even was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000. Seven years later, rock n roll Jesus earned him his first number 1 album on Billboards top 200. It sold over 5 million copies. He continued down this roll of country rock on “Picture,” a crossover song featuring Sheryl Crow.
Kid Rock’s Family
His personal life includes having dated Pamela Anderson, formerly of Baywatch, in 2001. They were engaged in 2002 but ended their relations in 2003. Only to later actually marry in 2006…and then divorce after four months together. He’s garnered a bit of a nasty reputation lately after he lashed out ranting drunkenly about Oprah Winfrey.
In 2014, he became a grandfather. After his son, Robert James Ritchie Jr., a product of him and an ex-girlfriend Kelley South Russell, had a child. Her name is Skye, and she made him a grandfather. In 2017, He proposed to his girlfriend of almost ten years, Audrey Berry. She is a normal person, not a celebrity, so he likes to keep her his little secret, and isn’t posted much on social media online.
After a career spanning multiple decades, Kid Rock’s net worth, from the 1980s to now, the 50-year-old rocker is worth an impressive $80 million, like a proper rock star. He’s still performing and still making money from his albums and touring. His business ventures, ranging from business in the music industry and outside accessories, including his merch t-shirts, which make a lot of money, even donates 30% of the income from these sales. Social media, including his youtube channel, endorsements, royalties, also contribute to his wealth.

The Beautiful Love Story of How Stephen Colbert Met His Wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert
Stephen Colbert is, above all, a family man. The host of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS is the youngest of 11 children in an Irish Catholic family. Tragically, when Colbert was only ten years old his father, James, and two of his brothers were killed when Eastern Airlines Flight 212 crashed into a North Carolina cornfield in 1974. Since his older siblings mostly lived out of the house, Colbert and his mother, Lorna, became inseparable in the wake of such a horrible catastrophe.
Long before the fame of The Colbert Report, Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, and so many Emmy Awards, the future late-night host had a girlfriend named Ann. Ann gave Stephen Colbert an ultimatum: get married or break up. Unsure of what to do, Colbert said he knew he had to return to his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina to seek advice from the woman who knew him best: mom. Stephen Colbert recounted the story, in detail, during one of The Late Show’s Q&As in 2019. His first day back in Charleston, Colbert’s mother asked him if he wanted to marry his Ann; he said “I don’t know.” And Lorna said, “‘I don’t know isn’t good enough.'” As Colbert joked when telling the story to. live audience, “Suddenly I had a week to kill!”
Watch Stephen Colbert Tell His Love Story So Beautifully
It was during that week that Colbert met Evelyn McGee, at a Spoleto Festival event for Philip Glass and Allen Ginsburg’s The Hydrogen Jukebox. When Colbert saw Evelyn in the lobby for the first time, “a beautiful woman in a black linen dress,” he knew instantly. When she cut in line to stand near him, the pair realized they were childhood acquaintances; Evelyn also grew up in Charleston. When the two began discussing Philip Glass and poetry, Colbert mentioned that his favorite North Carolina poet, Chuck Sullivan, was out of print. That’s when another man turned around in line and chimed in, saying, “That’s my father!”
It was kismet. The Late Show host has compared the fateful coincidence of the moment to Homer’s The Odyssey, from the Nausicaa book where Odysseus becomes shipwrecked and relays his heavy story to a new audience of islanders. Unsure of whether to believe his outlandish tales, the islander’s sneezes. In Robert Fagel’s translation, the line is “sneezed a blessing on his story.” In ancient tradition, this meant a fantastic story was really true. Always the classics nerd, Stephen Colbert has said that Chuck Sullivan’s son sneezed a blessing on him and Evelyn McGee while in line that day.
Knowing the interaction was so rare and special, it didn’t take long before Stephen Colbert and Evelyn McGee began to date, and then marry, and then go on to raise three children.
Evelyn McGee-Colbert
Stephen Colbert’s wife, Evelyn “Evie” McGee-Colbert is the daughter of a prominent Charleston lawyer, Joseph McGee. Growing up in Charleston, she attended the all-girls sister school to Stephen Colbert’s Catholic boys high school, and so upon meeting the couple realized they had many mutual friends.
McGee-Colbert acts occasionally and had a role on Colbert’s Comedy Central show and spin-off film, Strangers with Candy. She also had a cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, alongside her sons John and Peter, and of course, her husband Stephen. Stephen is the ultimate Lord of the Rings fan; the small roles became a family affair.
The celeb couple currently resides outside of New York City, in Montclair, New Jersey. Their three children are now young adults: Madeline Colbert, Peter Colbert, and John Colbert.

Bohemian Rhapsody: What Do the Lyrics of This Iconic Song Actually Mean?
Without a doubt, rock band Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of music’s most iconic rock songs and greatest hits of all time. There aren’t many people who haven’t caught themselves yelling the lyrics at the top of their lungs at a bar with drinks in the air. But as you slur over the words in the many different pitches and voices the song is composed of, have you ever wondered what the meaning of the song is? Surely, it’s not just a bunch random concepts put into a catchy tune just to be the groundbreaking song that it is.
Well, according to its songwriter, Freddie Mercury himself, the song is actually up to your own interpretation. He once declared, “It’s one of those songs which has such a fantasy feel about it. I think people should just listen to it, think about it, and then make up their own minds as to what it says to them…’Bohemian Rhapsody’ didn’t just come out of thin air. I did a bit of research although it was tongue-in-cheek and mock opera. Why not?”
Freddie began writing the song in 1968, waking up in the middle of the night to jump on the piano. Finishing it in 1975, he recorded the song using the same piano that was used in “Hey Jude.” But if you’re a true Queen fan, then you understand very well that the band has strong acknowledged that the lyrics of “Bohemian Rhapsody” are very personal to Freddie.
‘Freddie was a very complex person: flippant and funny on the surface, but he concealed insecurities and problems in squaring up his life with his childhood,” Queen guitarist Brian May said, “He never explained the lyrics, but I think he put a lot of himself into that song.”
The song was officially released on Queen’s 1975 studio album A Night at the Opera, and it was when Freddie was in a relationship with Mary Austin. Because it’s well-known that he had cheated on her with someone who worked in a record company, some think that his affair was the inspiration of this song. Others think that it was Freddie’s way of coming out to the world. But Brian May actually denied these suspicions in November 2015.
Biographer Lesley Ann-Jones suggested, however, that this specific line, “Mama, just killed a man/ put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he’s dead” was actually a metaphor for the death of Freddie’s heterosexuality. But along with Queen drummer Roger Taylor, Brian May also suggest that no one knows and will ever know what the song is actually about. He told BBC, “What’s it about? None of us know. Freddie never talked about it to my knowledge and didn’t want to and that’s the way it should be.”
Brian also explained that it’s basically pointless for people to try and understand and decipher the lyrics. So what do we do know about the song’s meaning? Well, scaramouche in the part of the song that goes “Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango” is a “character in a 17th century comedy show called Commedia dell’arte… a buffoon who always managed to work his way out of any tricky situation at the expense of someone else.”
A Persian leaflet was included when the rock band released a Greatest Hits cassette in Iran. It included a translation and explanation to which the band explained that the song is about how a young man kill someone, and in referencing Faust, sold his soul to the devil. Right before he’s executed to which he exclaims “Bismillah.” Bismillah from the line “Bismillah! No we will not let you go-let him go” is actually a Muslim term that means in “in the name of Allah,” just as Christians would say “Grace.”
Others have also believed that it references The Stranger by Albert Camus, where a young man confesses to a murder and has some sort of epiphany before he’s executed. But Kenny Everett, who popularized the song on Capital Radio, thinks that the lyrics are simply “random rhyming nonsense.”
And although there are clear rock parts, the operatic sections of the song could never be performed live, seeing that they took about three weeks to just record. But the song’s music video paved the way for using music videos to promote songs in the music industry for the first time, featuring them on BBC’s Top of the Pops.
We may never truly know what Freddie was trying to say in this song, but I think that’s fair since it seems the inspiration came from his own life. As an artist, music can absolutely be an expression of your personal life. And it’s pretty awesome that fellow band members Brian May and Roger Taylor protected its songwriting. It’s true classic hard rock that I’m sure even John Deacon would do the same thing.
But regardless, “nothing really matters” anyways, if it’s such a great song. You could think of it as a monstrosity for its craziness, or just understand that rock music has no limits.

Jenna Bush Hager Reveals The Last Words George H.W. Bush Told Sister Barbara
Most people remember George H.W. Bush as the 41st president of the United States. But to his grandchildren, especially to Jenna Bush Hager, they will forever remember him as their beloved Gampy. In her new book, Everything Beautiful In Its Time, the former first daughter highlighted some of her favorite moments of the former president, including the last words he told her twin sister, Barbara Bush, on her wedding day. Barbara married screenwriter Craig Coyne on October 7, 2018, at the Busch Family Estate in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Their Grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush, was in a wheelchair after suffering from Parkinson’s disease. At 94-years-old, Bush was still grieving the death of his wife, 73-year-old former lady Barbara Bush, who died that April. But, it didn’t stop the family nor him from celebrating on that beautiful day.
The Texas native wrote, “We ate a big dinner at the same table where we’d had countless meals in the years before. Gampy sat in between Barbara and me. The last words he ever spoke to her were, ‘You have never been more beautiful.'” President Bush died a month later on November 30, 2018. Still grieving the death of her beloved grandparents, Jenna wrote Everything Beautiful In Its Time: Seasons of Love and Loss as a tribute to them. Her book is a collection of intimate personal essay’s recalling some of the most unforgettable stories and precious moments that she had with her parents, former first lady Laura Bush and former President George W. Bush, and her grandparents. She also wrote about the special connection she has with her sisters.
The Today Show co-host, who goes live with Hoda Kotb, also spoke about her “own imperfections’ as a wife and a mother. Bush Hager shares 4-year-old Poppy Louise and 7-year-old Margaret “Mila” Laura with her husband Henry Hager. Their third child, Henry “Hal” Harold, was born in August 2019. During a recent segment of The Today Show, Bush Hager discussed her book, explaining why she chose that title. She stated that the title came from a Bible passage that she read at her maternal grandmother’s (Jenna Welch) funeral last year. She noted, “It says that everything is beautiful in its time. And I think even grief is beautiful in some ways, because it means you loved the people enough to miss them and to care.”
The former first daughter, who is also a children’s book author, also revealed one thing she picked up from her “Ganny” and “Gampy,” which was writing letters. Apparently when the family wasn’t together the couple would send them heartwarming letters and longhand emails telling them to stay safe and make good choices.
Recalling her grandfather, The #1 New York Times bestselling author stated,
Gampy, you were so down-to-earth — it was among your greatest attributes. I’ll never forget the night you were babysitting us and getting ready to debate Michael Dukakis. Remember when Barbara was upset over losing her stuffed animal, Spikey? Instead of debate prepping, you organized a search party with the Secret Service to find it. It’s funny to think about now, but it’s a moment that will stick with me forever. You may have been a vice president and president, but you were a Gampy to your little pip-squeaks first and foremost. Even with such a demand-ing job, you knew the importance of family. You were happiest when those you loved were around.
We can’t wait to read all the timeless lessons George H. W. Bush taught the Bush’s. You can buy the hardcover of Everything Beautiful in Its Time on Amazon. Book club just got a little bit better.

Jane Fonda Once Skinny Dipped With Michael Jackson
Breaking News! Jane Fonda, daughter of Henry Fonda, is out here living everybody’s dream. The actress is currently on an “I do what I want” phase, and my gosh, it is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen her do. The beloved activist and actress recently sat down for an interview with host Andy Cohen on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, and she definitely spilled some beans. So much so that she even surprised Cohen with an anecdote about Michael Jackson from the 1980s.
Did you know that Michael Jackson actually lived with the 82-year-old actress for about a week while she was filming On Golden Pond? Yep, talk about a very strange dynamic duo. Not only that, but both of them partook in some skinny-dipping. Speaking about the Thriller singer, she stated, “I found him touching, a very interesting character. I knew him well. I went to his house a lot. He came over to my house a lot. I skinny-dipped with him, how about that? Put that in your pipe and smoke it.” The King of Pop knew exactly what he was doing with that scandalous activity, great showbiz.

Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, and Martin Short Have Colonoscopy Parties Together
There’s nothing like having good friends to share the good and the bad with. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Tom Hanks take this very seriously by having literal poop parties. Steve Martin and Martin Short were on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' promoting their comedy tour and Netflix special, “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest Of Your Life" where they confessed that they have started having colonoscopy parties every couple of years.
The trio participates in their 'Colonoscopy Eve' party at Martin's house, where they have jello and follow the all-liquid diet they’re instructed to adhere to prior to the procedure and make a night of it. The next day they all go into a private clinic to get their colon cancer screening.
The Hollywood actors have also gotten creative about their colonoscopy process. They play cards to determine who has to go last, one of the three or their other friend Walter Parks, who often attends these pooper parties. Then they all drive together.
There do state that there is a catch to the parties. It’s necessary to empty the bowels to prep for the exam, meaning no solid foods. One of the parts of the liquid diet is drinking what is probably some form of a laxative. In Martin and Short’s words, the bathroom looked like “Day 14 of a Carnival Cruise” just 5 short hours after they arrived. The bathroom also was compared to “..look[ing] like a Jackson Pollock.”
If you are over the age of 45, regular colon cancer screenings are recommended by the American Cancer Society for early detection and prevention. Steve Martin says that it helps to keep them each accountable and that the Colonoscopy Eve is a “great way to do something that you should do.” Talk about a wild but productive late-night, huh? Not our kind of party, but hey, is good health is definitely important. I wonder if their health care provider knows about these parties?

‘Forrest Gump’ Inspired Gary Sinise To Get Involved With Veterans
Actor Gary Sinise is widely known for his efforts with military members, using his platform to greatly and positively affect the lives of military veterans. Our beloved Lieutenant Dan Taylor truly is a pillar in the military community, with his role in Forrest Gump inspiring his involvement. It may seem obvious how that happened, but specifically, how did the movie Forrest Gump spark Sinise’s seemingly never-ceasing inspiration to help those in the military?
Forrest Gump star Gary Sinise told Entertainment Tonight the exact moment that kicked off his dedication to service for the next few decades. When the United States was hit with what happened in New York on September 11, 2001, Sinise recalled, “I remember going into the first hospital to visit a wounded soldier after September 11, and all he wanted to do was talk about Lt. Dan.”
This inspired him to start the Gary Sinise Foundation soon after in 2011, raising about $30 million a year for many different programs in the foundation to honor United States defenders, military veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. But even before his encounter with that wounded soldier on that fateful day, Sinise was already getting involved with military foundations.
The DAV (Disable American Veterans charity) wanted to award him, only four weeks after his movie with Tom Hanks had been released, for “playing what they considered a catastrophically injured veteran in a positive way,” as he told Pickler & Ben. In June 2003, Sinise went on his first USO (United Service Organization) tour. After several USO tours in, he started bringing his band, the Lt. Dan band, overseas to entertain the troops.
He was already showing support at the National Memorial Day Concert on PBS, a broadcast honoring military families and veterans by bringing together the biggest names in Hollywood. For more than a decade, he and Criminal Minds star Joe Mantegna (known for his role as David Rossi), have hosted the event.
Sinise has completely owned his role as Lt. Dan, even decades after the release of Forrest Gump. When asked why by CNN in 2013, Sinise stated, “Lt. Dan is a part of my life in a way because I’m very devoted to our military, very devoted to making sure our veterans know we appreciate what they do. If they want to talk about Lt. Dan, that’s fine by me.”

Tom Selleck and His Wife Jillie Mack Have Been Married For More Than 30 Years
While many people in the entertainment industry find their forever partners working together or being introduced at an event, Tom Selleck and his wife Jillie Joan Mack’s introductionwas little different. He saw her performing in the musical Cats while he was filming Lassiter in London. The performance wowed him so much that just had to meet her. After seeing the show a dozen times they finally went on a dinner date. It was what some might call a whirlwind romance, and when Selleck was moved to Hawaii to film Magnum P.I., she moved with him. They were inseparable and secretly wed in 1987 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, with secret names “Suzie Mark and Tom Jenkins.” Their first child was born a year after that. He then took some time off of work to raise his family. He quit Magnum P.I. and moved to a 65-acre ranch in Ventura County, California, to be with his family. And, today, their marriage of over 30 years is still going strong.
Jillie Joan Mack is a dancer and actress from Wiltshire, England. While in Hawaii, she worked on Magnum P.I. as an English girl in a party scene. Her other roles, according to IMDB, are in the T.V. movie Silverfox and appearances on the show Fraiser.
Jillie Joan Mack and Tom Selleck have one child together: Hannah Selleck. They thought the ranch was the “best environment for [Hannah] to grow up.” She has since become an equestrian success, regularly competing since she was 14 years old. She has earned top-five medals from Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, St. Moritz, as well as the Canadian Pacific Grand Prix. Today she lives in Los Angeles, but outside the lights of the Hollywood lifestyle. She is focused on competitions and training the horses she breeds at her Thousand Oaks farm. She and her father have a horse breeding business, Descanso Farm, not far from the ranch where she was raised.
Before he married Jillie Joan Mack, the mustachioed legend of screens both big and small was married to Jacqueline Ray in 1971. Their union only lasted about ten years. The Blue Bloods star and his first wife adopted Kevin. Kevin, like his father, has worked in entertainment, though not in Hollywood. However, he did appear in an episode of Magnum, P.I. Kevin was in a band called Tonic, where he was the drummer. He left the band, however, when they began to quarrel after seeing some success. While many people in the entertainment industry find their forever partners working together or being introduced at an event, Tom Selleck and his wife Jillie Joan Mack’s introductionwas little different. The Beatles Iconic Debut on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ in 1964 Won the Hearts of Americans
It’s safe to say The Beatles quickly became a worldwide sensation the minute they set foot in the United States. Back in 1964, nearly 73 million people were watching when they made their iconic first appearance on American television on The Ed Sullivan Show and took over music forever. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison arrived fresh from Liverpool, England, and kicked off the first of three Sunday night appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964. The group had already hit number one on the U.S. charts, so the anticipation surrounding their arrival hadn’t been seen around The Ed Sullivan Show since Elvis Presley’s performance in 1956.
The fab four landed at New York’s JFK airport on February 7th, as they were met by screaming fans and reporters begging for autographs. Which is why the Beatles would spend the next two days hidden inside the Plaza Hotel as fans tried to sneak in to catch a glimpse of the band. Footage was captured of the rock and roll group being surrounded by screaming crowds and national television audiences eagerly watched the first show, as they walked out and sang five songs over to set.
At 8 p.m. on February 9, 1964, history was changed forever thanks to the British invasion of the quartet. At Studio 50 in New York, The Beatles opened their first live performance set with the all-time favorite song All My Loving, Till There Was You, and She Loves You. Later in the show, the band returned to play I Saw Her Standing There and ended up with their number one hits I Want to Hold Your Hand. All of the songs except She Loves You would appear on the group’s first album for Capitol Records. During their set, each member was captured by live television cameras with their names as a caption on the screen. There was even a hilarious moment when the cameras arrived on John Lennon and an extra caption read, “Sorry girls, he’s married.”
Sullivan had seen the excitement around the Beatles when he first visited England during the summer of 1963. Later that year he reportedly met the group’s manager, Brian Epstein, in New York City. Sullivan had agreed to pay the group $10,000 to appear with top billing. If you’re wondering, that would be just over $80,000 today. Taking things to the next level, Epstein agreed the group would appear a total of three times. Because well, three is better than one. More than 1/3 of America’s population witnessed music history that night, and 728 lucky individuals got to see it all go down as part of the show’s audience. The CBS’ studios had reportedly received a record-setting 50,000 requests for tickets to the show. As Paul McCartney remembers, he told Anthology that “Seventy-three million people were reported to have watched the first show. It is still supposed to be one of the largest viewing audiences ever in the States.”

Meet Frank 'Rocky' Fiegel, the Inspiration for Popeye the Sailor
The Popeye cartoon character is based around the life of a ‘muscly’, squinty-eyed sailor name Popeye the Sailor Man. The comic was created in the late 1920s by E.C. Segar. and is based on someone Elzie Segar knew in Illinois.
The Popeye the Sailor Man character debuted in The Thimble Theatre comic strip in 1929. He was a minor character hired by character couples ‘Olive Oyl’ and ‘Hamgravy’ (her fickle boyfriend) to be apart of a ship’s crew. While he was only meant to be around for a few strips, the Popeye character quickly became very popular and the focus of the strip. The originally unimpressed and at times fickle, Olive Oyl became Popeye’s girlfriend. Popeye finds a baby in the mail which he adopts and names Swee’Pea.
So who exactly is Popeye based after? Well, the man who Elzie Segar knew in Illinois was named Frank “Rocky” Fiegel. He was known as a “local” legend. He was strong and demonstrated it in the many fights he was in. Like his the character, “Rocky” smoked a pipe and was toothless, Segar took a few other liberties. Fiegel was more of a drinker than a spinach eater, and he was a bartender, not a sailer.
He was, however, said to be very kind to children-a characteristic Popeye was given as well. Recently statues have been raised of the other local character inspirations. Rumor has it that Fiegel wasn’t really aware of his role in the creation of our favorite character Popeye until his final years of life, passing away in 1947. An engraving of Popeye’s face is on his gravestone. A statue of him (Popeye) was raised in Chester, Illinois in his honor.
Paramount Pictures adopted the strip character into the Popeye the Sailor animated cartoon in an agreement with Max Fleischer of Fleischer Studios and King Features in 1932. Popeye’s popularity continued to rise, making these cartoons some of the most successful in the 1930s. William Costello was the original voice of Popeye. The most well-known voice (laugh and mumbles) for the character was Jack Mercer. Mae Questel, the voice of Betty Boop, was the voice of Olive Oyl, while Gus Wickie voiced Bluto.
This Fleischer Studios production was where the “spinach” trope became heavily emphasized. It was only spoken of from time to time in the comic strip. In an unfortunate turn of events, Paramount Pictures fired Fleischer Studios and began running the cartoon and others under their newly created Famous Studios. These cartoon shorts are currently owned by Turner Entertainment and distributed by its very own sister company, Warner Bros.

Hedy Lamarr Was Even More Brilliant Than She Was Beautiful
Actress Hedy Lamarr was one of the faces of MGM’s “Golden Age.” She was pure glamour in films such as Lady of the Tropics and Samson and Delilah, co-starring alongside the likes of and Clark Gable. However, the actress had other passions outside of the Hollywood bubble. She was also a scientist whos invention greatly impacted the technological world.
She was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1914 named Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler. She was discovered as a teenager by an Austrian film director, which led to her later appearance in the Czech film Ecstasy, which launched into the international spotlight. She later moved to the United States and signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio with her stage name Hedy Lamarr. Her first American film Algiers with Charles Boyer was an instant box office hit.
In the 1930s and 1940s, she continued her film career, acting in Boom Town, Tortilla Flat, with Victor Mature, Spencer Tracy, and Robert Taylor, and other popular actors in the time. Dubbed as one of the most beautiful women, she was also the first actress considered for the heroine for Casablanca. The role eventually went to Ingrid Bergman. However, in the early 1940s, as she became more and more sought after, as one of the favorite Hollywood stars, Lamarr started focusing on another passion project: inventions. She took some time out of the spotlight but did later return with The Female Animal. The autobiography Lamarr wrote, “Ecstacy and Me,” was published in 1966, but she later sued the publisher and ghostwriter for misrepresentations.
Hedy Lamarr and a composer friend George Antheil were granted the patent for a “secret communications system”. Or, more simply put, a radio signaling device. The product was created to change radio frequencies to prevent messages from being decoded by enemy spies. The technology has evolved into what we use every day for WIFI and Bluetooth.
She and Antheil were honored with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Pioneer Award. Lamarr received the first BULBIE Gnass Spirit of Achievement Award, a first for women. She was commemorated in a documentary in 2017 entitled Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story. The documentary told about Lamarr’s life as an actress and her pioneering work in technology, as well as her little known drug addiction.

Meryl Streep’s Net Worth Lives Up to Her Hollywood Legend
Meryl Streep is a multi-Oscar award-winning actress revered for Mamma Mia!, The Devil Wears Prada, and Sophie’s Choice. Before her career yielded her accolades of today, she was a stage actress in New York in the sixties. She was born in Summit, New Jersey in June 1949, her birth name was Mary Louise “Meryl” Streep. Her parents were a commercial artist, Mary Wilkinson Streep, and her father, Harry William Street Jr, a pharmaceutical executive. As a youth, she took opera lessons from Estelle Liebling and participated in cheerleading.
After graduating from Vassar College in 1971, the now Golden Globe winner attended Yale Drama School for an MFA, which she earned in 1975. Her first professional working gig was working at the National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. That year she moved to New York City to work on Broadway, averaging an appearance in over a dozen productions a year, including in The Cherry Orchard. She quickly made her move to the big screen.
In 1977 Meryl Streep received her first feature role in Julia. The film starred Jane Fonda, however, most of her scenes ended up being cut. Her role in “The Cherry Orchard,” however, was seen by Robert De Niro and that landed her an audition for The Deer Hunter the following year. The same film became Streep’s first Academy Award nomination: Best Supporting Actress.
In the time from the seventies to the late 20s, Meryl Streep has become one of the most appraised, most recognized, and highest-paid actresses. The year after her first nomination, Streep was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Kramer Vs Kramer (1979). She has appeared in A Cry in the Dark, The Post, Julie & Julia, Sophie’s Choice, Death Becomes Her, The Iron Lady, The Bridges of Madison County, and Manhattan. The 2008 musical release Mamma Mia! is, of course, one of her most successful films.
The American Actress has also acted on television in series such as Big Little Lies and Angels in America and has voiced several documentaries. She holds the 2004 AFI Life Achievement Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in November 2014, and over 150 awards from various organizations.
Meryl Streep’s career spans from her Hollywood and television acting work, investing in real estate, and celebrity endorsements. This puts her net worth at an estimated total of $150 million. Adored by millions as one of the greatest actresses, it is no surprise that the films she stars in earn the most and are made with very generous budgets.

Whatever Happened to S&H Green Stamps?
The S & H Green Stamp was one of the originals trading stamps, and they were collected with great fervor by American families from the 1930s to the 1980s. The small green stamps known as the S & H green stamps originated in 1896 distributed by the Sperry & Hutchinson Company, hence the “S & H” title. The Green Stamps were apart of a rewards program meant to incentivize people to buy their stamps. The Green Stamps were one of the first loyalty programs. Retailers purchased the stamps from the Sperry & Hutchinson Company, and the retailer determined the value and sold them to shoppers. Shoppers would then choose who to shop with based on which retailer’s stamps were cheapest.
At one time, they boasted having sold more stamps than the U.S. Postal service. The S & H Green Stamps were found at grocery store checkouts, gas stations, department stores with denominations one, ten, and fifty points. The perforated stamps had a sticky back to be moistened (probably licked) and stuck to the saver book. which were provided with the stamps. These books were 24 pages long and each page held a value of fifty points.
Collecting the stamps included a rewards program. Parents and children bonded together collecting the booklets of green stamp books wrapped din rubber bands in order to trade them in for various items. Home goods like kitchenware, outdoor gear, and some small appliances could be redeemed from the Green Stamp catalog. Children could redeem the stamps, as well as other collectibles or toys. Many families said that it taught them saving and collaboration.
Business for the program declined heavily during the mid-60s and towards the 70s, with declines win the green stamps valued. In 1972, the Sperry & Hutchinson Company also faced a lawsuit for restricting the trade of stamps. According to the unfairness doctrine, the program violated this in their green stamps program.
After the online boom, the company started offering S&H Greenpoint's online for shopping at their online stores. The Greenpoint, however, could be redeemed at a few stores like the New Jersey and New York Foodtown stores.
In 2013, the founder and owner of Pet Promise and Greenopolic Recycling purchased the S & Hutchinson Company with plans to relaunch the classic program.

'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek Wants Betty White as His Successor
In a tireless battle with pancreatic cancer, while dealing with COVID-19 sending everyone away from their jobs into their homes, host Alex Trebek celebrates his 80th birthday today.
The Jeopardy! longtime game show host has been hosting the game show since 1984, but was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year. According the American Cancer Society, “there is a five-year survival rate of 9% for pancreatic cancer across all stages on average,” but Trebek also explained to Good Morning America that he doesn’t plan on stopping until he can no longer host.
Now that the coronavirus pandemic has also limited his time on the show, the last Daytime Emmy Award winner for “Outstanding Game Show Host” jokingly named a specific person who he thought would be the perfect jeopardy successor: the beloved Betty White.
White actually has an incredible background as a game show host, but Trebek joked with Good Morning America, “I say, ‘Betty White,’ because they want somebody younger, somebody funnier.” He continued to explain that he and the 98-year-old have been long time friends.
On the game show’s official Twitter account, Trebek explained in a video tweet what’s next for the show, along with giving health updates that detail how he’s doing well with cancer treatment, and what he’s been up to during quarantine. He had been writing his memoir, The Answer Is…: Reflections on my life,” and it’s set to come out on July 21st, available on Amazon. Pancreatic cancer is definitely not slowing this guy down at all.
CNN attempted reaching out to Trebek’s representatives for any comments, but have heard nothing back. I wish Alex Trebek all the greatness and health for him, but I also think Betty White would be the perfect successor. Her experience and wit are perfect for this specific job, and she might want to consider seriously if that’s something she would do in the near future.

Sam Elliott and His Wife Katharine Ross Have a True Hollywood Love Story
Having recently starred in A Star is Born with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and on Netflix’s The Ranch, actor Sam Elliott has been a famous name and mustache in Hollywood for decades. The Golden Globe-nominated actor has been in Tombstone, Road House, The Golden Compass, and was the narrator for The Big Lebowski. Before Tom Cruise, Sam Elliott was in the TV series Mission: Impossible in the late sixties. He and his wife met like many other Hollywood couples, but have managed to do something not many have. They have been married for over three decades. A true Hollywood love story.
Katharine Ross is best remembered as Elaine Robinson in her breakout role The Graduate, opposite Dustin Hoffman. The film earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, as did her role in The Stepford Wives. Recently she and her husband starred together, again in The Hero a 2017 western film. She and her husband continue to and find joy in working with each other.
The two met in 1969 when they both starred in a western film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The movie starred Katharine Ross as leading lady Etta Place, and the famed duo of Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Sam Elliott had a much smaller role in the film, but that didn’t stop fate. Card Player #2 was his role, and he and his future wife didn’t have any scenes together. Given their role differences, Elliott was too shy to speak to Katharine Ross.
In 1978, many years later, they were both cast in another movie, a horror called, The Legacy. They acted across from each other as Pete and Maggie. Ross broke things off with her fourth husband, Gaetano Lisi. She was previously linked to Joel Fabiani, John Marion, and Conrad Hall. Elliott, on the other hand, had yet to be married. A year after they were married, they welcomed their first and only child.
Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross have one daughter together, Cleo Rose. Cleo Rose was born in 1984 and works in the entertainment industry as well. Now 36, Rose is a musician. Her debut album was released in 2008, “No More Lies”.

Remembering Actress Kelly Preston
After a two-year battle with breast cancer, actress Kelly Preston passed away on Sunday, July 12. The Jerry Maguire star was 57-years-old.
In 1991, Kelly Preston married her husband John Travolta at a romantic midnight ceremony in Paris, France, after meeting on the set of the Experts. During their 28 years together, the Hollywood couple had three children, Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Their first son Jett Travolta, died from a seizure back in January 2009, in their family vacation home in the Bahamas.
His death sparked a court case regarding the ambulance driver and his attorney blackmailing the family to keep the sensitive information about their son’s death under wraps. Nevertheless, according to the Associated Press, after the first criminal trial ended in a mistrial, John Travolta decided against testifying a second time, mentioning the severe strain the situation was causing their family.
Kelly Preston’s first role back after Jett’s death was in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation, the Last Song, with Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus. Firstly known as Marnie Mason in the 1988 film Twins, she went on to star in more popular movies such as Bonnie in the Expert, Chirk in Battlefield Earth, and Jane Aubrey in For Love of the Game. She co-starred with Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire, and as the wife of John Travolta, also co-starred as his character, John Gotti’s wife, Victoria. She also starred in Maroon 5’s music video for their popular hit She Will Be Loved.
John Travolta and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta honored the late For Love of the Game actress on social media in their own Instagram posts. He starts by saying with a “heavy heart” he’s announcing that his “beautiful wife Kelly” had lost her “courageous fight” to breast cancer and also thanked the healthcare workers at MD Anderson Cancer Center where she received medical treatment. He also mentioned that the public may not be hearing from their family for a while. Ella Bleu also honored her mother by highlighting how she was “courageous, strong, beautiful and loving.”

Spend Your Beach Day on Top of a Sandbar at Crab Island
Destin, Florida isn’t just known for its crystal blue beaches and white sand. Just like many other beautiful beach places around the world, there are many other touristy things to get into, and Crab Island is definitely one to check out. Crab Island is a massive sandbar near the Gulf of Mexico, where all kinds of vendors anchor their floating shops and restaurants for an all-day experience for tourists.
This sandbar “island” is located inside Destin’s East Side at the southern entrance of Choctawhatchee Bay, on the north side of the Marler Bridge (also known as the Destin Bridge). With all kinds of boat rentals and pontoon boats anchored around and people on jet skis, wave runners, and paddleboards riding close by, you’ll find your destination more easily than you think.
You can only get to Crab Island by a watercraft, considering it’s located in the middle of a body of water. Because of the strong currents and boat traffic, swimming there from ashore is not possible. You can bring your own boat, pick one of the many Crab Island excursions and let a professional take you there, or take any other form of water transportation there as long as you follow the guideline.
The most popular thing to use to get to Crab Island is pontoon boat rentals. In fact, the city of Destin is considered the “Pontoon Capital of the World” with the sandbar being a 5-minute boat ride away from the Destin Harbor. There are many boat rental companies in Destin and on Okaloosa Island, which is only 10-15 minutes away from Crab Island.
The reason why Crab Island is incredibly popular is probably that when you get to the sandbar, you can get out of your boat and walk around in cool, shallow water. With the vendors floating on top of the sandbar, you can walk from vendor to vendor across the entire area while your boat is anchored in one place.
Other fun adventures you can do is you can rent jet skis, kayaks, wave runners, and/or paddleboards on the sandbar as well. There are fun athletic and kid activities including playing water volleyball and tackling giant inflatable obstacle courses. There are food vendors where you can enjoy tasty food on their mobile food boats and floating restaurants. You can listen to live music being played by bands on floating stages. You can watch for dolphins and/or other marine life while snorkeling around your boat.
