The 360 View | The debates: A presidential slugfest?
On this episode of 360 View, Scottie Nell Hughes digs into President Biden’s latest challenge to Donald Trump to engage in two presidential debates in the coming months. But the details of the debates leave much to be desired and a lot of questions are still up in the air about former President Trump’s pending legal cases as well as President Biden’s physical and mental fitness. Scottie is joined by her expert panel (Alan Grayson, former US congressman; Larry Ward, President of Political Media Inc.; Steve Malzberg, Conservative Media Commentator) to discuss what will be the result of these debates and if any surprises await the American people as we move closer to the November election.

Farmers in Spain block major highway, denouncing EU agricultural policies
Farmers blocked the AP7 highway near the Spanish-French border to protest the European Union's agricultural policies and cheap imports ahead of the bloc’s elections. Dozens of tractors blocked traffic, many of those carrying signs reading 'Without farming, we have no future,' 'Here begins the European agricultural resistance' and 'No farmers. No food. No future.’

US assures Biden doesn’t want war while allowing strikes deep into Russia
The US has permitted Kiev to use long-range weapons from the Kharkov region to hit targets deep inside Russia, while insisting they are not seeking World War III or nuclear escalation. Moscow has warned Washington of disastrous consequences, including potential asymmetrical responses. Europe remains divided over the decision, with 11 countries supporting Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russia. We discussed the risks of nuclear escalation with a panel of experts.

Khabib Nurmagomedov urges Trump to help stop Gaza war
UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov made a heartfelt plea to former President Donald Trump during an event on Saturday. While meeting Trump at the event, Khabib took the opportunity to suggest that Trump do everything in his power to bring an end to Israel’s war in Gaza. Greeting the former president with a warm handshake, Khabib said, ‘thank you man. I know you will stop the war in Palestine.’ Trump agreed, replying, ‘we will stop it. I will stop the war.’
Trump’s ability to influence matters in the region would hinge on him winning a second term as president, however, which he insists will be the case this November, despite his recent trial for ‘falsifying business documents,’ a charge many believe is politically motivated.

British Ambassador to Mexico fired over gun prank
Life pro tip: brandishing a gun at your staff does not foster a spirit of teamwork and inclusion. Jon Benjamin, the UK's ambassador to Mexico, was dismissed from his post earlier this year after a video surfaced showing him pointing an assault rifle at a local embassy employee as a joke.
The diplomatic faux-pas occurred during an official trip to the cartel-heavy states of Durango and Sinaloa, and was apparently made as a joke about the gun violence in the area. The video, shared anonymously on social media by disgruntled embassy staff, shows Benjamin in a stopped vehicle aiming the gun at a blurred-out colleague, while grinning. It was captioned ‘in a context of daily killings in Mexico by drug dealers, he dares to joke.’
Well, he’s not laughing now. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office confirmed they had taken action following the incident and removed him from his post. Benjamin, a career diplomat with extensive international experience, had been serving as ambassador to Mexico since 2021.

UFC crowd cheers Trump with ‘f**k Joe Biden’ chant
Ironically, a UFC match appears to be one of the few places where Donald Trump doesn’t have to fight at the moment. The former president was greeted with the warmest of warm welcomes at an event in New Jersey on Saturday, where he sat ringside with UFC boss Dana White. Trump was first greeted with a standing ovation from the crowd, before they broke into a rousing rendition of ‘F*** Joe Biden!’
The event follows Trumps conviction by a New York Court for ‘falsifying business records,’ a trial thought by many to be a sham orchestrated by his political opponents. Trump was defiant following the verdict, telling reporters, ‘the real verdict will be on November 5, by the people. And we will keep fighting, and we’ll fight till the end and we’ll win.’

Let’s Talk Bharat | Sunny Deol on the power of Indian cinema
On today’s episode, Anupam Kher is joined by Bollywood star-turned-producer and director Sunny Deol – the eldest son of veteran actor Dharmendra Deol. He made a spectacular Bollywood comeback in 2023 with “Gadar-2,” a period action-drama about the violent fallout of the partition of colonial India in 1947. Deol is known for his larger-than-life on-screen characters and patriotism for his homeland. He is impressed by the realistic portrayals of South Indian films that have struck a chord with their audience. As a one-term member of parliament with the BJP, Deol is ready to bid farewell to politics and concentrate fully on creating engaging cinema that makes his family tradition proud.

Putin awards 100-year-old WWII veteran with Hero of Russia medal
A Russian veteran has been denied his request to join military operations in Ukraine on account of being 100 years old. Ibragim-pasha Sadykov fought for Russia during the Second World War, but still thought he had enough fight in him for another tour of duty, so wrote to the Russian Ministry of Defense, asking to be sent to Ukraine. And when that didn’t work, he went straight to the top.
‘Dear President of the Russian Federation! I am now 100 years and 5 months old, I am still young,’ he said, at a ceremony at the Kremlin. ‘I am a machine gunner, I was on the fronts from 1941 to 1945.’ He detailed how his request was denied: ‘Ibragim-pasha, we take only up to 60 years old, and you are 100+ years old,’ the ministry wrote back.
Russian presidents do not send the centenarians to the front. Instead, Putin decided to award Sadykov the ‘Gold Star’ Hero of the Russian Federation medal for his lifetime of service. Sadykov, a veteran of both Stalingrad and Kursk, had previously been awarded the Order of Glory third and second class, and Order of the Patriotic War first class, Medal ‘For Courage,’ Medal ‘For the Liberation of Warsaw,’ Medal ‘For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945,’ and Medal of Zhukov among his many decorations.

Kim Jong-un to suspend ‘dirty balloon’ retaliation
Kim Jong-un will stop sending his dirty balloons south. The North Korean leader had escalated the ‘balloon wars’ in retaliation for South Korea sending balloons full of propaganda leaflets and K-pop USB sticks northwards, and was continuing to send balloons full of manure and garbage south. This second offensive saw 600 more balloons carrying ‘sincere gifts’ of waste paper, scrap clothing, expired batteries and manure fly south of the border, bringing the total to 3,500 balloons, or 15 tons of waste.
South Korea has dispatched crack teams of dirty balloon disposal experts to cordon off the affected areas, however, the North believe they have succeeded in their goal of letting the South ‘experience how much effort is required’ to remove the propaganda drops. North Korean Defense Minister Kim Kang Il has said they will ‘temporarily halt dropping trash over the border,’ however, they will resume the dirty balloons if South Korea shows any sign of violating the ceasefire (ceaseballoon?).
