Polar Express Pajama Party - Muskogee Oklahoma
All aboard! Today we are heading to Muskogee for the Polar Express Pajama Party.
The Historic Roxy Theater and the Three Rivers Museum are teaming up to take you on a magical Christmas adventure and we have Angie Rush, the director of the Three Rivers Museum to tell us all about it.
The Polar Express Pajama Party in Muskogee is an exciting event that welcomes guests to the Roxy Theater where they will receive their golden ticket. While watching the Polar Express on-screen, Santa's elves will deliver hot chocolate served in a souvenir mug, cookies and a bag of popcorn. After the movie, you'll be transported over to the North Pole (Three Rivers Museum) for a photo opp with Santa, who will hand out special gifts to all.
Muskogee's Historic Roxy Theater. Originally opened in 1948 as a movie theater, the Roxy re-opened as a multi-purpose venue. Seating 300 people, the Roxy is a showcase for local talent as well as professional touring acts.
The Three Rivers Museum is dedicated to presenting the multi-ethnic history and heritage of the American frontier in the Three Rivers area in eastern Oklahoma where the Arkansas, Grand and Verdigris Rivers meet. The museum is located in the restored Midland Valley Depot in Muskogee.
Muskogee has always been a crossroads of cultures thanks to the three rivers that converge here. What began as a trading post became a destination for Native Americans who survived the Trail of Tears. Then, on Christmas Day in 1871, a General Grant steam locomotive puffed its way across the Arkansas River and Muskogee exploded.

Otter Cove Diner - audio only
On today's episode of the Only in OK Show, we are taking you to the Otter Cove Diner in Miami, Oklahoma.
The Otter Cove Diner and Gift Shop is a new "classic" diner built out of the remains of an historic 1920's Texaco on Main Street in Miami, Oklahoma. The Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma has rejuvenated a piece of Route 66 history right next to the RT66 Gateway. At this diner, you can get a classic diner experience(milkshakes, burgers, and much more), put your favorite song on the jukebox and just enjoy the history and murals.
Miami was founded in 1891. Lead and zinc mining established by 1918, caused it to boom. It is the capital of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, after which it is named, the Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma, the Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma, the Peoria Tribe of Indians and the Shawnee. The Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma is made up of descendants of the Ottawa who migrated from Canada. The name “Ottawa” is from the Indian word “adawe” meaning to trade. This name was appropriate because of the extensive trading with other tribes and their eventual involvement with the French.
