Healing from Gaslighting
Gaslighting is a form of manipulative abuse, in which a person causes you to doubt your memory of experiences and past events as well as your perception, which can lead to doubt of reality and questioning of your own sanity.
It is also used as a way to manipulate you into seeing a toxic and unhealthy relationship as one that is loving and filled with good intentions.
This is one of the heavy influences that a narcissist brings to a relationship that often needs to be addressed in the healing journey.
Goal of gaslighting → to preserve the narcissist’s well orchestrated and constructed image and to maintain a level of control in the relationship
If you are in a relationship with a true narcissist, you will find a pattern of gaslighting involved.
Gaslighting unleashes mental and emotional damage to those under its influence.
One of the top ways someone can experience an erosion in their mental health is to have their sense of reality become distorted.
Today I want to talk about the problem of gaslighting and how to process the healing that is needed.

Overcoming Grandiosity (Healing from a Relationship with a Narcissist)
The influence of narcissism partners with a mindset of grandiosity, an extreme pattern of a self-importance or “specialness” that often leads to exaggerated boasting about accomplishments, status and image.
As we all learn to heal and grow, God will lead us to see His greatness at work within us. We have areas of low thinking that need for our healing journey involves learning to see ourselves through love and having a greater value for who we are in our identity. To see the greatness of God at work within us. But grandiosity is a distorted extreme, where it takes some of these concepts and drives them into unhealthy places.
Grandiosity is not authentic or vulnerable, it's a grossly exaggerated and projected image.
Those with grandiosity can project they have a high view of themselves and have a lot of confidence. But it’s all an act to protect their deep emptiness and shame that never gets addressed or even admitted to. Grandiosity involves delusions of grandeur, where one develops an extreme sense of importance.
I personally see many who need to heal from the influence of grandiosity, stemming out of a relationship with a narcissist that will take some time and processing to heal from. I also want to bring an exhortation to all of us to be aware of the influence of grandiosity in our families, businesses, communities and churches.

Healing from a Narcissist When It is All About Them
One of the clear signs of narcissism is that everything in life is directed back to themselves. Everything is about them. It goes beyond selfishness, which we all have battles with and even self-centeredness. They have an orbit they have created where all of life points back to them being the center of attention.
Key: all things point back to them and the finely constructed and orchestrated image they have created of themselves.
They are often either the chief hero or the queen victim, depending on the situation. They can easily move back and forth.
They have a delusion about their image, that project that they always do the right thing . . . many can appear flawless . . . in addition, they never humble themselves or say they are sorry. Which means they won't take responsibility.
They are so deeply empty, but they haven’t humbled themselves to work through their shame and brokenness.
With this massive emptiness, they live in survival out of staring at themselves and guarding over their highlight constructed image they have created.
So therefore, they make everything in life orbit back to themselves.
When this is your parent:
You will be deeply neglected, ignored and dismisses
When this is your boss:
They will easily make decisions to protect themselves with no regard for how it impacts you
When it is your friend:
They will betray you when you are not around or speak behind your back easily.
When it is your spouse:
Any issues you bring up about your pain will be turned into a story about their pain

The Most Challenging Relationship in the Mental Health Journey
The most challenging relationship in our mental health healing journey is with ourselves. While many of us can talk about our struggle in relating and connecting to God in fruitful ways, while also struggling in relationship to others, the biggest trouble most people have is in how they relate to themselves. Most people do not even realize they even have a relationship with themselves. It is a very misunderstood and often dismissed area, yet you live with yourself 24/7. In this broadcast, I want to bring out this battle and remind you of some important anchors that will help your mental health healing journey.

Have You Been Slimed by a SCORNER?
In the Old Testament Scriptures on wisdom, the Bible brings out the toxic influence of narcissism within the profile of a SCORNER. Within the description of the scorner, you see the narcissistic traits manifesting. They leave a trail of strife, confusion and broken relationships behind them. It is important that we discern when we are being impacted by a scorner, because the Scriptures reveal their danger and abusive impact they can have on people.

4 Signs You Are NOT a Narcissist
One of the common things that can happen for many when they hear about the toxic influence of narcissism is they ask themselves, “Am I a narcissist?” Many obsessive compulsives will hear the traits and start to panic, thinking they are narcissistic and spiral into catastrophic thinking. But it can be helpful to look at this subject with sober eyes and recognize narcissistic tendencies, so we can walk in more fruitful and healthy patterns.

Why is it Hard for Christians to Accept that Narcissists Will Not Change?
One important step in healing from a relationship with a narcissist is accepting they will not change. This helps us to let go of the dysfunctional ways we learned to relate and cope. But for many Christians, this can bump up against some of our spiritual perspectives that have become distorted. In this broadcast, I want to share ten reasons why its hard for Christians to accept that narcissists won't change.

Mental Health and Hearing from God
There has been an increased awareness of the importance of mental health, both in the Christian community and in society as a whole. As Christians, there can seem to be an added dimension to our struggles, which is the desire to hear from God.
Many people who struggle with mental health find it difficult to hear from God. Depression, anxiety, OCD, paranoid schizophrenia and other mental health conditions can make the subject of hearing from God very challenging.
It is essential to approach the subject of hearing from God with discernment and care. As we navigate our mental health healing and wholeness journey, what about the subject of God’s voice, hearing His voice or hearing from God? I get a lot of questions surrounding this subject.
What does that look like to approach this subject from a healthy standpoint? Today I want to bring to you some pastoral feedback, from decades of teaching, one on one meetings, coaching, counsel and mentoring.
How do we navigate the subject of “hearing from God” when in fact you are navigating through mental health struggles?

Fight Mental Health Battles with Compassion
Mental health has long been a misunderstood and stigmatized topic. Many Christians fear admitting their mental health struggles, due to shame and or being seen as weak. To many fight their battles in silence, while they also struggle with feeling defeated, condemned, stressed and overwhelmed.
What we all need is compassion, which involves connecting to the love of God in His kindness and patience. We need greater compassion in how we deal with others, but we also need to practice compassionate grace in how we relate to ourselves in our own mental health battles. Today I want to bring out the importance of compassion and how it can create a domino effect of healing and freedom in our lives.

Compulsively Checking Your Feelings
Do you find yourself compulsively checking your feelings, to make sure you REALLY feel a certain way? For many obsessive-compulsives, they are often checking how they feel on a regular basis to make sure they feel a certain way. But they end up endlessly checking their feelings in an endless loop of their emotions very feeling a certain way. They get lost in their emotions and lose perspectives. I address a question that was submitted about this very issue, which shows how religious OCD and scrupulosity inflames distortions in how we deal with emotions and our faith walk.

Myths That People with Relationship OCD Believe
Many of us have heard of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but few may be aware of relationship OCD. I know I had no idea what it was, but struggled with it deeply for a while. It is a type of OCD that involves intrusive and unwanted thoughts or obsessions about relationships, usually romantic ones.
Those who suffer from relationship OCD may experience persistent doubts, fears, or concerns about the person they are dating, their own feelings, or the state of their relationship.
What's even more interesting is the myths that surround this battleground, leading to misunderstanding about love, marriage and what a healthy relationship looks like. In this broadcast I will expose some of the most common myths that people with relationship OCD (ROCD) believe and shed light on the reality behind them.

Obsessive Compulsive SERVING
Serving others is how we can bless the hearts of others with the compassion, grace and love of God. But have we become so obsessive about serving that the subject of serving has become distorted? Many believers are admitting that they have been living a performance driven life, which caused the subject of "serving" to become a never ending, machine driven lifestyle that produces burnout.
Have we conditioned people to become obsessive-compulsive when it comes to serving?
Today's broadcast is a very honest breakdown of the subject of church serving. I also address an obsessive-compulsive question that was sent in on this issue.

Does This Thought Mean I am Lusting and Committing Adultery?
I respond to a question by someone who struggles with OCD and has a hard time applying the words of Jesus regarding lusting after a woman, as shown in Matthew 5:27-28. How do you process this Scripture when you see an attractive person? When have you crossed the line into lusting and committing adultery?
