OCD and Confusion Over DENIAL
The subject of denial is often a place of confusion for those who battle obsessive compulsive issues. Those who battle OCD are often in denial of the issues of their heart that need tending to. It takes time to realize the problem is not the problem. Yet their obsession convinces them that the topic or subject they are disturbed about IS the problem.
When they actually take the step to starve their compulsion, they often have withdrawals. One of those withdrawals symtoms is thoughts that say, "You are living in denial. You need to keep addressing this subject."

I want to address a question about exposure therapy to bring out how to work through control issues and the fear that drives control. OCD is rooted in control issues, which are driven by fear. Letting go of control is essential for facing fears and experiencing greater freedom. Exposure therapy, where individuals confront their fears without giving in to compulsions, is a helpful tool in the healing journey.
I will address the 7 distortions and how they influence the OCD struggle. There is a heavy responsibility that impacts Christian OCD strugglers, where some carry a burden of feeling responsible for others' salvation. What is Grace? Part 4: The Power of Grace and Peace
The apostles were immersed in the power of grace, to the extent that it permeated everything they wrote and expressed. They proclaimed the power of grace to keep us rooted in grace, to the point they expressed a specific phrase repeatedly.
If there was a sentance repeated over and over again in the Scriptures, wouldn't you think that would mean its importance? Wouldn't it mean we should value it?
You will find a phrase repeated over and again that is worth paying attention to: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”

What is Grace? Part 1
The grace of God is absolutely amazing and life changing. But why is it that we struggle to connect to something that is so incredible? Has grace lost its meaning in our hearts, or are we realizing we never had a firm equipping as to what grace really looks like in the first place? Are we in need of a grace reboot?
What about you? Do we know what grace is, in such a way that it has an impact in your thinking, your relationships and how you approach life?
While it is so life changing, believers overlook its impact for their life on a daily basis. The work of grace brings an invitation of divine empowerment for our lives, but many don’t know what they are even looking for. And when grace shows up, it brings out an awkwardness in us, we don’t even know what to do with it. Many think that grace is too good to be true. They’ve been beaten down by powerless religion for so long, they have become used to a life that is disconnected from the vibrancy and power that grace brings to our lives.
The truth is, we often struggle to wrap our minds around grace, because we didn’t do anything to earn this gift. It is extended to us as a work of God’s absolute love for us. Love is who God is. Grace is how He delivers it. Religion has often taught us to look at ourselves with such disdain, it has actually disconnected us from the beauty of the majesty in Christ Jesus that grace shows us. Meanwhile, we beat ourselves down in self-hatred and self-condemnation all day long.
Grace brings the power of the Gospel to set us free from sin, deliver us from captivity, and frees us to live a life that is empowered to be like Christ. But even moreso, grace ushers us into a relationship journey, a walk with God that is designed to bring about transformation, but it is a journey, one built on learning to grow in grace. As we take each step, grace helps us see ourselves and the world around us with God’s heart, more and more.
Grace shows us that God is with us through thick and thin. When things ugly and messy, grace is there to meet us and walk with us to greater victory. When grace runs out from other people, God’s grace is still available. When you feel that grace runs out for yourself, God’s grace has just gotten started. But there is an absolute war over people experiencing the beauty of grace in personal and meaningful ways. The battles that so many struggle with are inflamed because we have been disconnected from how amazing grace truly is.
Many of you are here because you are recognizing your need for a deeper experience with God’s grace. My goal is not to use a lot of fancy words or theological terms that can make this subject very heady. What I want to do is extract the empowering aspects of what grace is and let it reveal how we can practically experience it. I am excited to embark on this journey together with you, as we continue to embrace the power of grace.
2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

There is No Such Thing as a 20 Minute Call
While addressing a question that came in, I took a brief tangeant to discuss some important things that can be helpful when it comes to our healing and freedom journey. When it comes to issues of the heart and working through our mental and emotional health, there is no such thing as a 20 minute or a quick phone call. These things take time, patience, understanding and process.
There are no quick fixes. No quick ways to healing. It's a journey.
I also talk about some limiting mindsets that hold us back. One big mindset that gets in the way is how we view our financial state and how it can bring limiting mindsets that hold us back from fruitful steps.

Are You Battling Existential OCD?
Is it possible that your existential deep dives are revealing the presence and influence of OCD? Are you obsessive about chasing doubts about your existence or God’s existence? Over my 30 years of ministry experience, I have observed many who get lost in certain questions related to life, death, existence, God, eternity and more that get them trapped into loops that do not lead them into greater fruitfulness. These “deep dives” end up trapping them, increasing anxiety, dread and disconnection from the world around them.
When OCD gets existential, you have intrusive and repetitive thoughts about the meaning, purpose, or reality of life, or the existence of the universe or even your own existence. Many of the questions can be targeted at God, His existence and questions regarding why He did certain things and why it seems He did not do other things.
These can appear as super deep questions, that if you chase them and figure them out, you will find peace and become a deeper person. But it actually does not produce that. I have personally observed many who have found themselves in intense torment, stemming off of where these thoughts take them.

Common Pitfalls of Relationship OCD
If you're constantly questioning your love for your boyfriend or girlfriend, wondering if they're the right person for you, or feeling the urge to break up even though you don't want to, you may be struggling with relationship OCD (ROCD).
ROCD can cause significant distress and disruption in romantic relationships. I've seen it in dating couples and married couples. People with ROCD experience intrusive thoughts and obsessions about their relationship, even though they know they're irrational.
Common ROCD obsessions include:
- Doubting your love
- Doubting the other person's love for you
- Comparing your partner to others
- Nitpicking the person's traits or appearance
- Fearing that you're not compatible
- Worrying that you're not attracted
- Having intrusive thoughts about breaking up

Working Through Thought Action Fusion
Do you connect that thoughts that arrive into your thinking are the same as acting on it. Thought-action fusion (TAF) is a fancy psychological term that simply describes a cognitive distortion that occurs when people believe that their thoughts are equivalent to their actions. This means that they believe that simply thinking about something bad or harmful makes it the same as doing it.
For many OCD strugglers, thoughts arriving into your mind and acting on thoughts are the same, meaning that having a thought show up is the same as doing the thought. For those who battle OCD, they can believe that certain thoughts imply the immorality of their character or increase the likelihood of catastrophic events.
For Christians, it can create a distorted perspective on verses that speak on “as a man thinks” or “if you look at a woman with lust you have already committed adultery.”
TAF is a common symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but it can also occur in other anxiety disorders and in people who have experienced trauma. It can lead to a great deal of anxiety and distress, and it can make it difficult to live a normal life.

Healing Our Distorted “God Filter”
Our mental health is deeply impacted by how we relate to God. When I sit down and talk with someone about their relationship with God, it doesn't take very long to observe the lens by which they relate to God and how they see Him. How you see God is what I call your "God filter." There are many aspects in how we see God that are healthy, but we also have to recognize aspects of how we see Him that are based on lies, brokenness and distortions. In my own personal journey, I realized that how I related to God was broken, which was deeply hindering my mental health journey.
