Biographical information about Skillet from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skillet_(band)):
Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1996. The band currently consists of husband John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and wife Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) along with Jen Ledger (drums, vocals) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar). The band has released eleven albums, two of which, Collide and Comatose, received Grammy nominations. Two of their albums, Comatose and Awake, are certified Platinum and Double Platinum respectively by the RIAA, while Rise and Unleashed are certified Gold as of June 29, 2020. Four of their songs, "Monster", "Hero", "Awake and Alive", and "Feel Invincible", are certified Multi-Platinum (5× Platinum, 3× Platinum, and 2× Platinum respectively), while another two, "Whispers in the Dark" and "Comatose", are certified Platinum, and another four, "Rebirthing", "Not Gonna Die", "The Last Night", and "The Resistance" are certified Gold.
Skillet went through several line-up changes early in their career, leaving founder John Cooper as the only original member remaining in the band. They are known for a relentless touring schedule, which garnered them a top five ranking in the Hardest Working Bands of 2010 by Songkick.com.
The band's style has been described as Christian rock, Christian metal,] alternative rock,] hard rock, nu metal and symphonic metal. The band's eponymous debut album was characterized by its grunge influences, while their follow-up album, Hey You, I Love Your Soul was noted for "its electronic elements and industrial feel." Their music can also be described as an aspiration; according to Cooper's idea for a perfect music is to 'unite' individuals spiritually and socially. Allmusic reviewer James Christopher Monger described the band's musical style as a fusion of "alt-metal, hard rock, post-grunge, and soaring alternative rock," in his review for the band's 2013 album, Rise.
In April 2018, Jen Ledger began pursuit of her solo career by joining with Korey Cooper. They formed as Ledger and released a self-titled EP, along with a new single "Not Dead Yet".
In September 2018, John Cooper and Seth Morrison formed a new side project, Fight the Fury. Alongside John Panzer III and Jared Ward, they released an EP, Still Breathing, with a new single, "My Demons".

Salute to Service MARK MORITZ, US Army National Guard Veteran of Iraq/Afghanistan Wars - Interview
Today is a very special day in our Salute to Service series, as Brian interviews his older brother, US Army National Guard Sergeant First Class Mark Moritz!
Mark began his military career in 1988, he is currently serving in his second stint with the PA Army National Guard, having re-enlisted in 2006 in response to an internal calling to serve following the attacks of 9/11 and the ongoing fighting. Serving as an intelligence analyst, Mark has served four tours oversees in Iraq and Afghanistan. He talks with Brian about why he re-enlisted, what the average day for an intelligence analyst is like, how tough it was being away from family in a warzone, advice he'd give to young people thinking of joining the service, and much more.
We hope you enjoy this interview with Mark Moritz, an American hero, and like his other brother Ray, a personal hero of Brian's. Be on the lookout for further interviews with more incredible veterans and servicemen and women, as we continue to shine the spotlight on those who most deserve it. If you or a loved one are a veteran or active duty military servicemember, we'd love to hear from you! Thank you for your service!

VETERANS DAY, What It Means to Veterans - Salute to Service
With Veterans Day being celebrated later this week, we at Inspiring How UC That wanted to share our love and appreciation for our service men and women, past and present. This video serves as the first in our newest series, "Salute to Service". In this video, we posed the question to two veterans "What does Veterans Day mean to you?". Answering this question are US Army veteran Ray Moritz and Army and Marine Corps veteran Corey Taylor. We want to give a special thank you to Youtuber Jason S for allowing us to utilize his drone footage of the American flag on the hill as the backdrop for our video. The original footage can be found on his Youtube channel at:

Information on Veterans Day from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day):
Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces (who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable). It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who had died while in military service. Another military holiday that also occurs in May, Armed Forces Day, honors those currently serving in the U.S. military. Additionally, Women Veterans Day is recognized by a growing number of U.S. states that specifically honor women who have served in the U.S. military.

Biographical information on Patterson Park from Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterson_Park_(Fort_Meade,_Florida)):
Patterson Park is a public park in the town of Fort Meade, Florida. It has an area of 16.5-acre (67,000 m2), of which half is water. The park is at an elevation of 148 ft (45 m) and the property was once an open-pit mine. The area was landscaped after the mine was closed.
This park has a number of amenities:
Observation areas that can be used for fishing.
Two floating fishing docks.
An 850 feet (260 m) cement-paved walkway.
A restroom and concession facility with nearby parking.
Two gazebos with picnic tables.
A beach volleyball area.
Three bodies of water, termed small lakes in two websites.
The three lakes comprise half of Patterson Park's surface area. All three are irregular rectangles, having originally been mine pits. One covers most of the south side of the park and is connected to the other two lakes by small water channels. The northeast lake contains a small fountain in its southeast corner. These lakes are not listed in any of the websites that list lakes (Fishing Works, Hook and Bullet, GoingOutside.com). These lakes can only be fished. No boating or swimming are allowed.
Fort Meade residents greatly enjoy participating in regular community events. With several events happening throughout the year and new events taking shape, exciting things are in store for our community. Patterson Park is a great place for community events. In July, young fishing enthusiasts ages 4 to 14 can participate in the All-American Fishing Derby at Patterson Park coordinated by Leisure Services. Every year, the Saturday before Halloween there is a costume contest at Patterson Park. Keep a lookout for more new events yet to come.

Here's some information on Hobart Urban Nature Preserve from their website (https://www.miamicountyparks.com/node/1289):
In 1967, the Miami County Probate Court created the Miami County Park District, a separate Ohio political subdivision, under Chapter 1545 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Since 1967, the Park District has acquired and protected lands having outstanding natural features, for the current and future enjoyment of the citizens of Miami County. The Park District’s primary obligation is to protect open spaces and manage these open spaces so that people can make wise use of them without disturbing their unique beauty. By offering “passive use” alternative opportunities to the public, the Park District plays a special role in fulfilling the open space recreation needs of the citizens of Miami County.
A three member Board of Park Commissioners appointed by the Probate Court Judge of Miami County, governs the Park District. Each member serves without pay for a three-year term. Each Commissioner is appointed on a staggered yearly rotation to insure consistency on the Board. Regular Park Board meetings are held monthly, are open to the public, and are advertised through the media. The Park District Board establishes all policies, rules, hiring and terminations, development projects, land acquisitions and expenditures.
The principal source of funding for the operation of the Park District comes from a property tax levy approved by the voters of Miami County. Secondary sources of revenue derive from grant, investment, donation, local government, fine and rental funds. Providing Miami County residents with superior services at the most reasonable cost, and to comply with all federal, state and local mandates, is essential to sustain the health and viability of the Park District. In doing so, the Park District must weigh and balance its obligations to protect the health, safety and welfare of its employees, residents, and environment, while maintaining fiscal responsibility as required by Ohio law.

Info on Toronto from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto):
Toronto is the capital city of the Canadian province of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,794,356 in 2021, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,765,188 people (as of 2021) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area proper had a 2021 population of 6,712,341. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, sports and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.
Indigenous peoples have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original limits through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).
The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. More than half of residents were born outside of Canada, more than half of residents belong to a visible minority group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Torontonians speak English as their primary language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city. The mayor of Toronto is elected by direct popular vote to serve as the chief executive of the city. The Toronto City Council is a unicameral legislative body, comprising 25 councillors since the 2018 municipal election, representing geographical wards throughout the city.
Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets. Also, varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract over 43 million tourists each year. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure on land outside of Asia, the CN Tower.

Biographical information on Pittsburgh from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburgh);
Pittsburgh (/ˈpɪtsbɜːrɡ/ PITS-burg) is a city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the county seat of Allegheny County. It is the second-most populous city in Pennsylvania, behind Philadelphia, and 68th-largest city in the U.S. with a population of 302,971 as of the 2020 census. The city anchors the Pittsburgh metropolitan area of Western Pennsylvania; its population of 2.37 million is the largest in both the Ohio Valley and Appalachia, the second-largest in Pennsylvania, and the 27th-largest in the U.S. It is the principal city of the greater Pittsburgh–New Castle–Weirton combined statistical area that extends into Ohio and West Virginia.
Pittsburgh is located in southwest Pennsylvania at the confluence of the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River, which combine to form the Ohio River. Pittsburgh is known both as "the Steel City" for its more than 300 steel-related businesses and as the "City of Bridges" for its 446 bridges. The city features 30 skyscrapers, two inclined railways, a pre-revolutionary fortification and the Point State Park at the confluence of the rivers. The city developed as a vital link of the Atlantic coast and Midwest, as the mineral-rich Allegheny Mountains led to the region being contested by the French and British empires, Virginians, Whiskey Rebels, and Civil War raiders.
Aside from steel, Pittsburgh has led in the manufacturing of other important materials—aluminum and glass—and in the petroleum industry. Additionally, it is a leader in computing, electronics, and the automotive industry. For part of the 20th century, Pittsburgh was behind only New York City and Chicago in corporate headquarters employment; it had the most U.S. stockholders per capita. Deindustrialization in the 1970s and 1980s laid off area blue-collar workers as steel and other heavy industries declined, and thousands of downtown white-collar workers also lost jobs when several Pittsburgh-based companies moved out. The population dropped from a peak of 675,000 in 1950 to 370,000 in 1990. However, this rich industrial history left the area with renowned museums, medical centers, parks, research centers, and a diverse cultural district.

Info on Columbus, OH from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus,_Ohio):
Columbus (/kəˈlʌmbəs/) is the state capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Ohio. With a 2020 census population of 905,748,[4] it is the 14th-most populous city in the U.S., the second-most populous city in the Midwest, after Chicago, and the third-most populous state capital. Columbus is the county seat of Franklin County; it also extends into Delaware and Fairfield counties. It is the core city of the Columbus metropolitan area, which encompasses ten counties in central Ohio. The metropolitan area had a population of 2,138,926 in 2020, making it the largest entirely in Ohio and 32nd-largest in the U.S.
Columbus originated as numerous Native American settlements on the banks of the Scioto River. Franklinton, now a city neighborhood, was the first European settlement, laid out in 1797. The city was founded in 1812, at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and laid out to become the state capital. The city was named for Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. The city assumed the function of state capital in 1816 and county seat in 1824. Amid steady years of growth and industrialization, the city has experienced numerous floods and recessions. Beginning in the 1950s, Columbus began to experience significant growth; it became the largest city in Ohio in land and population by the early 1990s. The 1990s and 2000s saw redevelopment in numerous city neighborhoods, including downtown.
The city has a diverse economy based on education, government, insurance, banking, defense, aviation, food, clothes, logistics, steel, energy, medical research, health care, hospitality, retail, and technology. The metropolitan area is home to the Battelle Memorial Institute, the world's largest private research and development foundation; Chemical Abstracts Service, the world's largest clearinghouse of chemical information; and the Ohio State University, one of the largest universities in the United States. As of 2021, the Greater Columbus area is home to the headquarters of six corporations in the U.S. Fortune 500: Cardinal Health, American Electric Power, L Brands, Nationwide, Alliance Data, and Huntington Bancshares.
The city of Columbus was named after 15th-century Italian explorer Christopher Columbus at the city's founding in 1812. It is the largest city in the world named for the explorer, who sailed to and settled parts of the Americas on behalf of Isabella I of Castile and Spain.[13] Although no reliable history exists as to why Columbus, who had no connection to the city or state of Ohio before the city's founding, was chosen as the name for the city, the book Columbus: The Story of a City indicates a state lawmaker and local resident admired the explorer enough to persuade other lawmakers to name the settlement Columbus.
Since the late 20th century, historians have criticized Columbus for initiating the European conquest of America and for abuse, enslavement, and subjugation of natives. Efforts to remove symbols related to the explorer in the city date to the 1990s. Amid the George Floyd protests in 2020, several petitions pushed for the city to be renamed.

Interesting Places in Peninsula, OH. Bridges and Locks on the Cuyahoga River, Train Station & Depot
Today we're back with another video of cool spots we found during our journeys. This video showcases some interesting spots in Peninsula, OH, including locks and bridges along the Cuyahoga River, and old train station and depot, and the town ballroom that is now a Winking Lizard restaurant. Keep an eye on our channel to see more adventures we come across. Let us know some cool areas you've discovered!
https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/history-of-the-ohio-erie-canal.htm
The Ohio & Erie Canal traveled through the Cuyahoga Valley on its way to connecting the Ohio River with Lake Erie. Wherever this man-made ditch went, change followed: change for the Cuyahoga Valley, the region, and the nation. In the wake of the canal came prosperity, a national transportation system, and a national market economy. As you travel on the Towpath Trail, consider how the canal beside you once transformed the country.
he Ohio & Erie Canal traveled through the Cuyahoga Valley on its way to connecting the Ohio River with Lake Erie. Wherever this man-made ditch went, change followed: change for the Cuyahoga Valley, the region, and the nation. In the wake of the canal came prosperity, a national transportation system, and a national market economy.
Connecting the Frontier and the Nation
In the early 1800s, most of the United States was frontier, sparsely settled by independent Indian nations and wandering explorers. Many European settlers came west to places like the Cuyahoga Valley seeking rich land to farm. Once here, most settlers struggled just to be self-sufficient. Even if they could raise a crop, getting surplus to markets required a journey of more than a month. The prices paid for these goods hardly made the journey worthwhile.
The United States was still new: a young nation founded on democracy with vast undeveloped resources. In the East, the economy depended on imports from Europe. The West had no efficient way to export goods over the Appalachian Mountains. This growing nation focused its energy on “internal improvements.”
Building the National Transportation System
The first step towards uniting a country divided by geography began in 1817 with construction of the Erie Canal. This canal linked New York’s Hudson River with Lake Erie at Buffalo. The Erie Canal opened in 1825, immediately benefiting New York and beyond.
The Erie Canal was the beginning of a national transportation system, connecting ports on the Great Lakes with eastern markets. To reach into the Midwest, America needed canals built farther inland. Seeing the benefits of the Erie Canal, Ohio caught canal fever. By 1825, plans to link Lake Erie with the Ohio River were underway. Many routes were under consideration, but a continental divide in northern Ohio created a major obstacle. Geography and politics both affected decisions about the canal’s route. At the divide’s highest point, today’s Summit County, the canal would need additional sources of water. The Cuyahoga River and the nearby Portage Lakes could supply that water.
When Simon Perkins offered land in what is now Akron, the state decided to route the canal through the Cuyahoga Valley. Power and money motivated land owners, such as Peninsula’s Herman Bronson, who offered free land to the state—if the canal would pass through their property. Using design specifications from the Erie Canal, construction on the Ohio & Erie Canal began throughout the state in 1825. It took two years of hand digging to complete the section from Cleveland to Akron, and five more years to finish all the sections. Dug largely by Irish and German immigrants, this four-foot-deep ditch stretched 308 miles to Portsmouth on the Ohio River. By the fall of 1832, the canal promised passage from Cleveland to Cincinnati in 80 hours, a trip that had once taken weeks.

KOKOMO, Ind. - Call me Willie.
A white whale has been set free inside Kokomo’s Foster Park, beckoning to passers-by along Wildcat Creek, urging them to stop and look and even step into its enormous, toothless jaw.
Its tail, mid flip, one end pointed toward the ground, the other flexing upwards, belies the whale’s otherwise stationary posture. Its mouth stands lazily, permanently agape, as it has for 55 years.
This whale, with its sleepy blue eyes, is far more welcoming than Captain Ahab’s obsession.
But its history may be equally bizarre.
Willie the Whale has been an iconic Hoosier landmark since 1964, the backdrop of hundreds of thousands of photos through the decades, chronicling trips to the Indianapolis Zoo, an amusement park and even a mini-golf course.
Now, he’s in Kokomo.
Willie, 16 feet tall, was placed inside Foster Park on April 25, the newest addition to an oddball Kokomo team that already included a 17-foot-tall metal praying mantis; a stuffed steer that in its day weighed more than 4,500 pounds; and a tree stump over 1,500 years old.
Willie washed ashore at the Eastside water park called Boogie Mountain near Shadeland Avenue and I-70. When that business closed several years ago, Willie and the water rides found a new home at the Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo in Angola, Ind. The whale was painted black and given more defined and "happier" facial features. The Fun Spot fell victim to an economic downturn and closed in 2008.
Willie the Whale sat in dry dock among the ruins of the abandoned park until 2015 when he was sold to the city of Rushville with intentions of making him a roadside attraction or piece of outdoor public art for the city. Rushville mayor, Mike Pavey, got the idea of saving Willie when he saw this original story on the iconic statue.
Earlier this year, the city of Kokomo purchased Willie and contracted Justin Olson of Olson Paint Studios in Indianapolis to restore him to his original color. Olson has reached out to Indianapolis Facebook nostalgia pages in hopes of finding Willie's true-self. "The feedback we’ve been getting is positive so far," Olson said.
In 2016, Willie was the center of attention when the Indianapolis Museum of Art opened its miniature golf course featured a slightly renovated Willie as the 18th hole.

The city anchors both the Greater Cleveland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) and the larger Cleveland–Akron–Canton combined statistical area (CSA). The CSA is the most populous in Ohio and the 17th largest in the country, with a population of 3.63 million in 2020, while the MSA ranks as 34th largest at 2.09 million.
Cleveland was founded in 1796 near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River by General Moses Cleaveland, after whom the city was named. Its location on both the river and the lake shore allowed it to grow into a major commercial and industrial center, attracting large numbers of immigrants and migrants. A port city, Cleveland is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Its economy relies on diversified sectors such as manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, biomedicals, and higher education. The GDP for the Greater Cleveland MSA was $135 billion in 2019. Combined with the Akron MSA, the seven-county Cleveland–Akron metropolitan economy was $175 billion in 2019, the largest in Ohio, accounting for 25% of the state's GDP.
Designated as a "Gamma -" global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, Cleveland is home to several major cultural institutions, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Orchestra, Playhouse Square, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Known as "The Forest City" among many other nicknames, Cleveland serves as the center of the Cleveland Metroparks nature reserve system. The city's major league professional sports teams include the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Guardians.

Discovering Cleveland OHIO Downtown Part 2 War Memorial, Cleveland NFL Browns Stadium
We're back to talk about some of the awesome areas we discovered while we are out traveling for interviews, and we're in the great city of Cleveland Ohio today with segment part two! This is the first of a few segments highlighting some amazing facets of this fantastic town! Let us know some cool areas you've discovered!
Downtown Cleveland is the central business district of Cleveland, Ohio. The economic and symbolic center of the city and the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area, it is Cleveland's oldest district, with its Public Square laid out by city founder General Moses Cleveland in 1796.
Downtown is bounded by Lake Erie to the north, the Cuyahoga Valley to the west, and Interstate 90 to the south and east. It encompasses several subdistricts, and its diverse architecture includes the Cleveland Mall, one of the most complete examples of City Beautiful design in the United States. Downtown's residential population has grown significantly since the 2000s and especially 2010s, registering the largest population growth, by percentage, of any Cleveland neighborhood over that time.
Cleveland Stadium, commonly called Cleveland Municipal Stadium, a multipurpose facility built in 1931 that served as the Browns' home field from their inception in 1946 through the 1995 season. During the 1995 season, owner Art Modell announced his plans to move the team to Baltimore, which resulted in legal action from the city of Cleveland and Browns season ticket holders. The day after the announcement was made, voters in Cuyahoga County approved an extension of the original 1990 sin tax on alcohol and tobacco products to fund renovations to Cleveland Stadium. Eventually, as part of the agreement between Modell, the city of Cleveland, and the NFL, the city agreed to tear down Cleveland Stadium and build a new stadium on the same site using the sin tax funds. Modell agreed to leave the Browns name, colors, and history in Cleveland and create a new identity for his franchise, eventually becoming the Baltimore Ravens, while the NFL agreed to reactivate the Browns by 1999 through expansion or relocation of another team. Demolition on the old stadium began in November 1996 and was completed in early 1997. Debris from the former stadium was submerged in Lake Erie and now serves as an artificial reef.
Ground was broken for the new stadium on May 15, 1997, and it opened in July 1999. The first event was a preseason game between the Browns and the Minnesota Vikings on August 21, followed the next week by a preseason game against the Chicago Bears. The first regular-season Browns game at the stadium was played the evening of September 12, 1999, a 43–0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Since 2011, the stadium has been referred to by some as the "Factory of Sadness", a name that was first coined that year by comedian and Browns fan Mike Polk. Polk made a video outside the stadium in which he complains about the team's futility. In 2021, after the Browns defeated the Steelers at Heinz Field, local tv station WKYC-TV broadcast a segment with Polk where he "closed" the Factory of Sadness.
Through the 2020 season, FirstEnergy Stadium and Allegiant Stadium are the only NFL venues that have yet to host a postseason game of any kind. The Browns are one of six teams who have yet to host a home playoff game in their respective stadium, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and New York Jets. These teams (save for the Raiders), however, have hosted the Super Bowl at their respective stadiums, while the Jets' home, MetLife Stadium, has also hosted a New York Giants home playoff game.

Information on The Christmas Story from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Christmas_Story):
A Christmas Story is a 1983 Christmas comedy film directed by Bob Clark and based on Jean Shepherd's semi-fictional anecdotes in his 1966 book In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash, with some elements from his 1971 book Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories And Other Disasters. It stars Melinda Dillon, Darren McGavin, and Peter Billingsley and is a seasonal classic in North America. It has been shown in a marathon annually on TNT since 1997 and on TBS since 2004 titled "24 Hours of A Christmas Story", consisting of 12 consecutive airings of the film from the evening of Christmas Eve to the evening of Christmas Day annually. It is often ranked as one of the best Christmas films.
The film was released on November 18, 1983. Filmed partly in Canada, it earned two Canadian Genie Awards in 1984. In 2012, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
The film is presented in a series of vignettes, with narration provided by the adult Ralphie Parker reminiscing on one particular Christmas when he was nine years old. Ralphie wanted only one thing that Christmas: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Ralphie's desire is rejected by his mother, his teacher Miss Shields, and even a Santa Claus at Higbee's department store, all giving him the same warning: "You'll shoot your eye out".
On Christmas morning, Ralphie receives some presents that he enjoys but is disappointed not to find the rifle among them. When it appears that all of the presents have been opened, Ralphie's father ("The Old Man") directs him to one last box hidden in the corner, which proves to contain the rifle. He eagerly hurries outside to try it out, attaching a target to a metal sign in the backyard; when he fires, the BB ricochets back and hits him in the face. Believing at first that he has indeed shot his eye out, he realizes that the BB only knocked his glasses off and begins searching for them in the snow, only to step on them by accident and break them. He lies to his mother that a falling icicle struck him in the face and broke his glasses, and she believes him.
That night, Ralphie goes to sleep with the gun by his side as his adult self reflects that it was the best Christmas present he had ever received or would ever receive.
