The engine in a VW R32 is driving by a timing chain. While timing chain failure on this engine is not common, the may require replacement. To properly replace timing chains, and time the chains is not hard, but this video should help you time your R32 or over 24v VR6 engines. Today we tear down a VW W8 engine. The W8 engine is 2 VR4 engines in a V. Similar to the W12, Turbo W12 and W16 engines. While we dont get a W8 straight piped, we do completely take the W8 apart and check out the heads, timing chains, block and pistons. The W8 Passat was the highest level Passat you could buy. This 2010 VW CC came to me with a check engine light, running poorly, and the "ITs been to a bunch of shops and still isn't fixed. Today we diagnose the check engine light, and find some really interesting issues, that are not common CC problems. Cars like this are always a tough diagnosis with so much unknown, and issues that were caused by other shops. Putting together an engine block means installing pistons, a crank shaft, and bearings. Today we will also be installing new piston rings, and all new bearings on the bottom end of a VR6 engine. We are also upgrading the main bolts and main bearings. If your VW doesn't have heat, or AC, odds are the foam on the blend doors has come off. I will show you how to fix the blend doors WITH OUT REMOVING THE BOX. You can finally get heat and AC back. Today we will be removing the rear subframe, rear control arms, rear differential, Haldex unit, and more on the R32. The metal parts are rusted and look awful. The bushings are worn, and we may install a limited slip for the diff. In this video we walk step by step on how to remove the whole rear end and strip it down for powder coat. Coolant and engine oil mixed? Might just be a bad headgasket. In this video we replace the head gasket on a 1999 S10. This process also involved cleaning and flushing engine oil, and engine coolant. We also check the head and block for warpage. We also run into some surprises that require more time and more money.
