Garden Hoops with a Pallet - How to make
Here is how I made some garden hoops out of electrical conduit using a pallet for a form. It's a simple garden project that can be used to hold bird netting or shade cloth over your garden beds... or even be used as the base to a low tunnel greenhouse to help extend your growing season. Kids Obstacle Course - How to with scrap wood and pool noodles
Here's how I made a kids obstacle course out of some pool noodles, scrap wood, spray paint, PVC pipe and a few other things! The only costs were the purchase of about 9 pool noodles and some cans of paint. The scrap wood, pvc pipe and other props were just things I had on hand and decided to use. I hope this inspires you to make an obstacle course for your kiddos:)

Birdnest Problem... Birdhouse Solution
A few years ago i kept having problems with birds nesting in my gutters. Since rainwater is my primary water source I kept having to remove the nests and hated having to do so. So my solution was to build them a new house under the eaves and give them a better option! And now for the last couple years they've been nesting in the birdhouse and not the gutters... win/win!

Making Liquid Laundry Soap - How to
We finally ran out of laundry detergent and figured we'd try our hand at making our own liquid laundry soap with washing soda, borax, and a bar of Dr. Bronners castile soap. After a few loads of laundry we are really pleased with the results and think this is both a great savings and an easy to make, lower chemical soap than we could buy at the store. The recipe we are using is from wellnessmama.com.

Updates: Sponsorship and Greenhouse Sneak Peak
Backwoods Home Magazine subscription offer -
http://bit.ly/1QjHycm
Hey guys/gals! Starting in March, this channel will be officially sponsored by Backwoods Home Magazine. It is going to be a trial run for both them as well as myself, to see if the partnership will be beneficial to both of us. They will be offering a discounted rate on new subscriptions for subscribers of this channel and you will see a small clip of there logo in the video... say like 4-5 seconds or so. I understand some folks may not like the channel having a sponsor, but this is a part time venture for myself and making videos isn't without costs of time and money.
Backwoods Home Magazine is a self reliance oriented publication that is very aligned with the subjects and projects that you see in my videos. And if you like my videos, there is a good chance that you will like the content that they provide in their magazine as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions:)

Chamomile Tincture - How we use and make it
Here is how my wife and I make and use Chamomile Tincture as a home remedy for a variety of ailments. The benefits range from a calming sleep aid to a stomach pain treatment and even use in treating cuts and scrapes.
As for dosage.... we can't recommend any certain amount, as it will depend on your needs, health issues, etc,. But we take a teaspoon as issues exist every hour or so for a couple hours. For nighttime calming/sleeping routines my wife will take one teaspoon a couple hours before bedtime.
Please remember we are not health professionals, doctors, or anything remotely like that. Please consult a professional before consuming anything in your body.

Tools for the beginning DIYer - Power tools
I'm often asked about what I think are the best power tools for the beginning do-it-yourselfer. It's a question that truly has no one right answer and will be dependent on many different factors.... needs, budget and goals. I try to go over some of the considerations someone should consider and then select a variety of basic tools that I feel might be a good starting point for the beginning DIYer on a budget.
My selections are not necessarily the 'best' tools for all jobs, but rather a starting point for someone looking to acquire some basic and useful tools. Please note that I made this list with budget and compactness in mind for it to be inclusive for those that may not have the extra room for a table saw, miter saw, etc,... OR a booming budget;) So the tools on the list may not necessarily be the best at a certain task, BUT can accomplish a task while being affordable as well as storable.
Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

TopBar bee hive honey harvest - first time How to
Harvesting honey from my top bar bee hives that I built this past spring to house 4 feral bee swarms that I was able to capture. It has been a super fun learning experience and I'm happy that I'm able to harvest a small bit of honey for my efforts.
I'm NO expert and make TONS of mistakes in my handling of bees. I'm still learning and am merely showing how I'm currently doing this with limited experience and knowledge. Nothing I do should be considered the right/correct way to handle or work around bees and if you choose to do this or anything... you do so at your own risk.
