Laminated Workbench Top - How To Make (shipping container shop)
Making a laminated workbench top for the shipping container shop with standard lumber and basic tools! This is only half of the workbench project but I think it is a good "how to" of rather unconventional methods to make a laminated or butcherblock style work surface or table top. No special woodworking tools needed. No jointer, no biscuits, no planer, no pipe clamps... no problem ;)
... but I guess a table saw is sorta special...but it doesn't have to be a fancy one.. mine was $100 on craigslist!!
I had limited time to do this, so the rest of the workbench will be coming in a few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions:)

Tour of my Walking Trail
This is just a little tour of a walking trail that I built on our property about 9 years ago. It serves many functions, but mostly it is just a nice place for morning walks and a bit of exercise and stress relief. Secondarily it serves as a wildfire break and gives us access to all areas on the property. ( It is about 1/2 mile in length) And if this isn't interesting to you... I totally get it... lol ;)
Let me know if you have any questions!

Workbench w/ Drawers Build - for the Shipping Container Shop
Building a workbench with drawers for the shipping container shop! This was a fun project to build a modular style workbench with a LOT of drawers to help me keep the container shop organized and give me good benchtop workspace too! Construction is basic... pocket holes, nails, glue and a bit of plywood... and DIY drawer pulls!
I'm very happy with the way it came out, but I might take a break from building drawers for a bit...whew! Please let me know if you have any questions:) Joe

Culvert Cistern Install - catching rain off the Shop!
Installing a culvert cistern to catch rainwater off the shipping container shop roof. I go over the basic steps of the formwork, pouring the concrete, setting the cistern and running the gutters, plumbing and the overflow. It's a bit of work but I think the effort result in one of the coolest looking cisterns/tanks you could have sitting by your house... if you're into that kinda thing;)
Here are the links to the other videos I mentioned and the Culvert Cistern video course that Derek (DIYhomesteadprojects) and I put together on installing one of these unique looking cisterns.

Summer Camping Trip! - Fishing, Solar cooking, Golf, toilet paper plant...?
Not really a specific subject today... just some clips of our family camping trip this summer.. fishing, cooking with a GoSun solar stove, toilet paper plant, mountain golf, picking berries and a bunch of other random clips. The areas we camp range from 7-9000' in elevation and are full of aspens, pine, streams, etc,... which is a marked difference from the desert and cactus we are used to. Not hard to imagine why this is a special get away for us :)
Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching!

Concrete Pour - Shipping Container Shop
Pouring concrete for the Shipping Container Shop and the Culvert Cistern project. The shop now has brand new concrete slabs that should make for really nice work surfaces under the awning and in front of the double end doors. I’m really happy with the way it turned out and am very thankful for all the help I received during the pour!
For those wondering about the culvert cistern project, that will be finished in a couple of weeks once the concrete has fully cured and can be sealed. It should have it’s own dedicated install video, so hopefully any questions about that one will be answered once that video is up. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions:)

Bees, Monsoon Plants, Rainwater Garden...
Checking the bee hives, monsoon rains, prickly pears and other plants that come to life around the property, rainwater garden project rain footage, and a preview of a wildlife waterer project. Really random collection of clips... hopefully not too terribly random though;)
NOTE: Editing this video was tough as I think my computer is on its last legs. Spilled a drink on it a couple months ago and its progressively gotten worse since. Some clips may be jerky as I couldn't get it to stabilize some of those clips. Sorry, will be looking for a new machine as soon as I have the available funds :/

Shipping container Shop - Culvert Cistern Update
Update on concrete projects for the Shipping Container shop and Culvert Cistern install to harvest rainwater off of the shop roof. I've built the forms for the cistern and for a couple of concrete slabs that will go under the shop awning and in front of the double doors. The concrete forms aren't 100% complete, but this ought to give you an idea of whats to come. Thanks for watching!

Rainwater Garden Project - Fruit Trees - Trip To The Nursery!
Today I'm adding fruit trees to my Rainwater Garden Project, where I collect rain runoff water from my road, divert it into catchment basins and grow plants in the desert! It's my attempt at some desert permaculture using swales and berms to collect and retain our monsoon rain water. This year I'm adding fruit trees to it and am hoping to be able to grow them year round with no additional water... fingers crossed :)
Please let me know if you have any questions! thanks, Joe
For the local folks:

DIY track lighting for the Shipping Container Shop
Working on some DIY track lighting for the Shipping Container Shop using metal tubing and some LED work lights. I wanted to be able to have good bright light for working under the awning but also have the shop / work lights usable for mobile use as well… so this is what I came up with! They aren’t perfect but overall I’m happy with the function and looking to get a lot of use out of these on upcoming projects☺
And I’m sure some will want to know…. the lights are Klutch LED work lights from northern tool. The mask I’m wearing is called an RZ mask and the plasma cutter is a Forney 700P☺

Painting the Shipping Container Shop Part 4 - awning, windows
Today I finished up the trusses and roof structure for the shipping container shop, as well as adding windows and starting on the awning. And to top it off a nice coat of Direct to Metal paint has made this thing really take on a different look. At the end I’ll talk about what’s to come in the next phases of the project. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions☺

Shipping Container SHOP part 3: windows, door, trusses
In this video I’ll be framing the windows, entry door and adding trusses to the 20ft shipping container that will hopefully become a great little shop! I was hoping to have the shipping container painted by this point, but am happy to have gotten the trusses on and getting closer to being able to install the roof and awning. Please let me know if you have any questions☺
