How to Create a Healthy Plate or a Healthy Balanced Meal? Healthy Eating Made Simple
In today’s video, I show you how to create a healthy plate and share some easy nutrition tips that will make being healthy a lot easier. This way of eating is suitable for anyone who’s trying to be healthy. My healthy plate method is focused on keeping your blood glucose and insulin low, provide you with plenty of nutrients and keep you full and satisfied.

So first, most of your plate, around 75% by volume should be filled with non-starchy vegetables.
Non-starchy veggies are very low in calories, so, it wouldn’t keep you full and satisfied if you ate only that. I’ll show you how to create a balanced healthy meal that keeps you full and satisfied.
Why choose non-starchy carbohydrates? Because 90-100% of starchy carbohydrates get broken down into sugar in our bodies. Starch is a lot of glucose molecules bound together. Too much glucose in our diets leads to more insulin, more insulin resistance, weight gain, and increased risk of various chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and dementia.
Starchy carbohydrates include bread, rice, all types, white, brown, black rice, and potatoes. These types of carbohydrates should be replaced by non-starchy carbohydrates as they are higher in nutrients and much lower in sugar. Following this simple rule, you will age slower, be leaner, and be able to reduce your risk of chronic diseases.
Then, coming to the protein sources. Your protein source should take around ¼ of your plate.
When choosing your protein source, make sure your meat is organic grass-fed, and your fish is wild.
If you’re a vegetarian or a vegan, you can use the same rules to calculate the amount of protein from foods such as organic tofu, lentils, beans, or other protein sources.
Many people find eating enough vegetables difficult. The key to making vegetables taste delicious is by adding some healthy fat to them. Don’t be afraid to add some grass-fed butter, organic extra virgin coconut oil, or extra virgin olive oil to your salads, or your cooked vegetables.

Also, your protein source does not have to be lean. In fact, lean protein can spike your blood glucose and insulin much more. Fat in the protein helps to digest it and reduce this sugar and insulin spike.
Why should someone use my Healthy Plate method and follow my nutrition tips?
Our current dietary guidelines tell us to get most of our calories from starchy carbohydrates, while in fact, our bodies do not require any of these foods.
What happens when you follow the food pyramid or the eat well plate/eat well guide?
-You end up gaining weight and deteriorating your health.
Our diets should aim to provide us with all the nutrients that our bodies need to function and keep our blood glucose and insulin at low levels. That’s the key to good health. That’s a very easy nutrition tip that can make you have a much longer and healthier life.
If you feel that your meal didn't provide you with enough nutrients, have a smoothie on the side
A low-sugar smoothie recipe:
1 glass of water,
2 handfuls of organic kale or spinach,
½ a lemon,
12 drops of liquid stevia
1 handful of berries such as raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, or cranberries.
Mix everything together for 1 minute.

Can Dementia Be Prevented Through Lifestyle? You've been probably told that dementia, and the most common form of it called Alzheimer's disease, is inevitable.

"It's normal to start forgetting simple things when you're older".
You'll often hear that we don't know what causes dementia and that we can not prevent dementia. Which is not quite true.
In this video, I'm gonna share some facts about dementia, ways you and your loved ones can prevent it or greatly improve it, in cases where you already have cognitive impairment.
I'll share some findings from scientific literature, that looked at dementia or Alzheimer's disease prevention. And I'm gonna show you, that dementia can be prevented through lifestyle. And the first step in preventing dementia is changing our definition of what is a healthy balanced diet. Believe it or not, but what most of us see as a healthy diet, is not healthy at all.

I see this over and over again. Stories like
- "My father's diet was perfect, he was very healthy. And he ended up getting dementia, meaning diet is not related to dementia".
Let's look at this from another perspective.
If we don't correctly define, what is a healthy diet, we will get into trouble along the way.
You might see eating high amounts of carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, potatoes, and rice, as a healthy balanced diet.
- I see this way of eating as a recipe for creating cognitive decline and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Not intentionally. Accidentally. It is not easy to know what's good for your body. It might take decades to show up.
Dementia is now often called type 3 diabetes, or insulin resistance of the brain. Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes are closely linked with dementia.
Most dementia patients have impaired glucose metabolism resulting in their brain starving without energy. If a dementia patient can't get energy from carbohydrates, and he or she keeps eating high carbohydrate foods, that break down into glucose, there are no chances of the patient getting better. The disease can only get worse.
And what happens if you remove the foods that are high in sugar, or break down into sugar after you eat them, high carbohydrate foods such as pasta, bread, potatoes, and rice? Alzheimer's disease patients have instant improvements in their brain function.
Dementia can be prevented through lifestyle, it's important to know it and do your best to prevent it.

Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) Blood Glucose Experiment - [KETO vs BAD CARBS vs GOOD CARBS]
I decided to make an experiment where I follow different diets for a few days and see how they affect my blood glucose levels. I did a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) blood glucose experiment, where I compared the KETO diet vs the High Carb Diet. And where I compared bad carbs versus good carbs. Carbs such as bread, cookies or white rice, versus quinoa, sweet potatoes and black rice.

About me:
Healthy, non-diabetic, normal weight, with a family history of type 2 diabetes.
For this experiment, I used a continuous glucose monitor from Freestyle Libre for 9 days and tested as many foods as I could. that fall in the categories of low carb keto foods, unhealthy carbs and healthy carbs. CGM shows you your blood glucose levels in real time. I will finally see how different foods impact my health! And you can have a rough idea how it would impact you.
To make this blood sugar experiment as accurate as I can, I will follow my regular lifestyle, wake up and go to sleep around the same time, avoid excess stress, don’t do any unusual activities, I’ll stick with my regular walks, once in the morning, once after lunch, and once after dinner.
I’m gonna eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full and will see how each diet affects my blood glucose levels, my energy levels, my hunger and satiety.
There will be 3 days of keto, 3 days of high unhealthy refined carbs and 3 days of healthy low GI carbs. I will show the photos of meals, grams of carbs in some foods, and show how it affected my blood glucose levels.
I started my glucose experiment with my regular diet. A healthy low carb, high fat, moderate protein ketogenic diet.
The second dietary pattern that I wanted to test during this CGM continuous glucose monitoring experiment, is a diet high in bad carbs, or refined carbs.
And the last dietary pattern that I tested during my CGM experiment is healthier lower GI carbs. A diet, that is still high in carbohydrates, but the healthier ones. Foods like black rice, quinoa, low sugar granola, wholemeal bread, health bars, dairy free yogurts, and various fruits.
So what interesting did I learn from this continuous glucose monitoring CGM experiment?
I noticed that times when I had the least blood glucose fluctuations, I was feeling great. I was full of energy.
The times when I ate refined carbohydrates and had huge blood glucose fluctuations, I was not feeling well. I had energy crashes and constant hunger. I felt I could eat the whole day!
When I'm on a healthy low carb keto diet I have stable blood glucose and tons of energy. When I eat carbs (especially fruits and other sugar or things like white rice) I have huge glucose spikes, energy crashes and I feel that I need to eat all the time. Eating fruit was bringing my numbers to diabetic levels. That's something to consider.
I highly recommend you to try out using this continuous glucose monitoring device for 2 weeks. That’s all you need to experiment, try out as many foods as you can, and have the actual results showing how your body responds to it.

So, what is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting is a meal timing plan, where you have eating and non-eating times. During your eating period, you eat as normal, and during your non-eating period, or fasting period, you don’t consume any calories.
The longer the fast – the more benefits you get. But it takes time and practice until you can comfortably do longer fasts.
Is fasting natural for humans or is it some sort of fad?
From an evolutionary perspective, humans would typically go days without food, often hunting on an empty stomach. Semi-starved animals with enhanced brain function and energy would be more likely to obtain food and find ways to survive. It’s just how we evolved. Eating only when the food is present, maybe once a day, maybe once in 2 or 3 days.
Is it unhealthy to skip breakfast? Which is basically the same as intermittent fasting?
That’s what the food industry wants you to believe in.
There are several different types of fasting:
Simple intermittent fasting
Prolonged fasting
Liquid fasting
Dry fasting
How should you break a fast?
Normally, your gut gets weaker temporarily after fasting, so it would be best to break your fast with something like bone broth. Bone broth helps you to restore your gut’s mucosal layer faster.

And how do you start fasting in general? What helps you to start?
Well, fixing your diet is really important. If you eat a lot of refined carbohydrates and processed food, there’s a high chance that you have insulin resistance, excess weight and you’re always hungry.
So first, you have to get rid of the foods that make you hungry all the time. Reduce your sugar, other refined carbohydrates, deep-fried foods, processed snacks, refined vegetable oils. Replace them with natural whole foods.
When you switch to eating natural whole foods, have enough of high fibre low starch vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower or cabbage, spinach, have enough of high-quality protein, and have enough of healthy fat, such as grass-fed butter, ghee, organic extra virgin coconut oil, you start feeling way more satiated and can go longer periods of time without eating.

So, here is my search:
The issue with most of the studies is that they focus on the fact that saturated fat increases LDL cholesterol. And then they automatically assume that it increases cardiovascular disease risk.
It's this unquestionable fact.
That's when we fail. When we stop questioning things.
A good example is this study:
Dietary lipids and blood cholesterol: quantitative meta-analysis of metabolic ward studies

Conclusion: Saturated fat raises your LDL cholesterol.
-That still doesn’t prove that this LDL increases cardiovascular disease risk.
Then more relevant studies and I found these studies, that actually looked at the risk, not only the increased LDL cholesterol:
So, the first study:
Meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies evaluating the association of saturated fat with cardiovascular disease
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20071648/
They start by saying that a reduction in dietary saturated fat has generally been thought to improve cardiovascular health.
-Their Conclusions was: A meta-analysis of prospective epidemiologic studies showed that there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD or CVD.
Dietary total fat, fatty acids intake, and risk of cardiovascular disease: a dose-response meta-analysis of cohort studies

-Conclusion: no association was observed between total fat, monounsaturated fat, saturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat and risk of CVDs.
Then, next meta-analysis, looking at dietary cholesterol:
Dietary cholesterol and cardiovascular disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26109578/
-Ant their results showed that Dietary cholesterol was not statistically significantly associated with any coronary artery disease or stroke. Dietary cholesterol statistically significantly increased both serum total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and did not increase the risk of coronary artery disease or stroke.
Here's one long trial:
Low-fat dietary pattern and risk of cardiovascular disease: the Women's Health Initiative Randomized Controlled Dietary Modification Trial

-No evidence to support the low-fat diet.
What about the low carbohydrate, high fat ketogenic diet, it is high in fat and saturated fat. It must increase the risk of heart disease.
There's this meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials:

-Conclusion: low carbohydrate, high fat ketogenic diet decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Here’s a study called:

So I hope you know now, that LDL Cholesterol does not increase your risk for Heart Disease, and what you eat your fat with matters the most.
