We are seeing the nation of America experiencing some tumultuous times, and it is only going to increase. The question is: is this the first time that a nation has experienced a crisis amidst its leadership? In the 1970’s, the Holy Spirit did a miraculous work as the Lord poured out His Spirit upon the entire nation and moved upon thousands of people so quickly, and so mightily. This powerful move of God was chronicled and remembered in the 1971 Time Magazine and the 1972 Life Magazine with so many beautiful color images of what the Lord did. Thousands were gathered in Costa Del Mar, California in order to be baptized. A woman preaches the Gospel in Texas in what was once a strip bar. People are enthusiastically gathered to worship the Lord, and a young woman is baptized in a pool in Washington, D.C.. Two years later in 1972, thousands gathered in Dallas for the Explo 72’ Crusade as people boldly proclaimed Jesus Christ as the ‘One Way’ to Heaven, as hands were stretched high across the crowd with their index fingers pointing high. One of those hippies, Lonnie Frisbee, got mightily touched by the love of Jesus Christ and was forever changed. It was the 1970s. It was Southern California. The conversation on every tongue was Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Time Magazine chronicled this mighty outpouring by dedicating their 1971 front cover as THE JESUS REVOLUTION! No building could contain the hunger for the presence of the Lord, or even what the Holy Ghost might do next. Crowds were gathering to hear the Gospel. Crowds were gathering at the ocean to follow Jesus in water baptism. Every where Lonnie Frisbee shared the Gospel, the Holy Ghost would powerfully transform lives. It was only a matter of time before this firebrand for God took the message of the Gospel across the ocean to Sweden to continue the message of Jesus Christ. To this day, the fruit of Holy Spirit that moved through Lonnie Frisbee and so many others continues on, changing lives, and reaching hearts with the love of Jesus Christ. Great Awakening? Great Revival? Why not today? In today’s landscape, it appears that the ways of godliness, and our nation’s moral compass, has all but been lost. While people are leaving God, and others are choosing atheism and agnosticism, many are losing hope. 50 years ago, it was a similar story in America. Leading up to the 1970’s, America was experiencing what many perceived to be some of its bleakest and darkest days. What many were not aware of was the greatest move of God’s Spirit was about to be poured out upon the nation. Men had their thoughts, BUT GOD! It seemed to catch everyone by surprise. The Holy Ghost took over a gathering of young people on the campus of Asbury College. It was 1970, and this was the spark that began to ignite the whole nation on fire for a passion and hunger for Jesus Christ. IT WAS A JESUS REVOLUTION! Days prior, rebellion lined the streets, as every establishment of authority was the enemy. Almost overnight, people were declaring their love and support for the police. Time Magazine captured this awesome record in our nation’s history. “Chicago police, we love you!...Jesus loves you!” The drug addicts and drug dealers weren’t selling and taking the drugs, there were passing around boxes to put their drugs INTO to give them to the police. THIS IS WHAT GOD DOES! Young people share mighty and encouraging testimonies of the power of the Holy Ghost in their lives. Young people share their transformational stories of how the Lord delivered them from their sins, addictions, loneliness, and anger. Where there had been divisions in families, the Lord miraculously brought families together, through healed hears, instantly after being water baptized. Don’t be discouraged, depressed, or hopeless when you see the things that are taking place in our world. Completely sane and common sense, bright leaders are being told that they are the ones that are crazy. This is what the devil does. Bring division and accusation. Just as things are dark today, they were dark and looked hopeless 50 years ago. God rocked America in the 1970’s. They called it The Jesus Revolution and we’re going to be talking about it in detail! We believe, it’s going to happen again in America! During these dark times some Christian Americans began to leave the church buildings and gather in their homes and begin to pray for America, pray for their children who was at war, or in the streets in the hippie rebellious movement and God responded. It took America from darkness into the light and shifted humanity who walked in deep darkness into the light.
