A common phrase you might hear in Christian circles is “God’s timing is not our timing.” It’s not a direct quote from scripture, but there might be reason to consider it. In this special theatrical presentation, we meet the lame man from Acts 3 & 4. Every day he sits at the Beautiful Gate begging for coins until he is healed by Peter and John. What we often miss is that this man is nearly 40 years old! This means he likely saw Jesus come to the Temple during His ministry. Have you ever thought about why Jesus never healed him himself?
Thank you to God’s Gathering Place in Conover, WI, for letting us film.

My goal is that their hearts, having been knit together in love, may be encouraged, and that they may have all the riches that assurance brings in their understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. - Colossians 2:2-3

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: Why are there 4 Gospels? (Session 9/10)
Watch the entire series here: https://evidence4faith.org/portfolio/christianbasics/
The differences found in the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are often used to discredit the life of Jesus and as a reason to not trust scripture. This perspective often comes from a fundamental understanding of what these books are. As the books talk about the life of Jesus we are tempted to think of them as biographies. But compare any of the books to a modern biography and you will find the Gospels to be lacking quite a bit to fit the biography category. Are the differences between the Gospels and the events they emphasize intentional? Prophecies from the Old Testament shed light on this problem and provide a better framework to read the four Gospels as they were intended.

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: How we got the Bible (session 8)
Watch the entire series here: https://evidence4faith.org/portfolio/christianbasics/
How did we get our modern Bibles? This is likely a common question you have heard and wondered about. A common misconception is that our Bibles are a very recent creation. Not all of the books in the Bible were written at the same time and not all writings were considered God-inspired. This lesson traces back the history of our Bible to the very first writings all the way up to our modern printed Bibles. You will learn how our current canon got put together and why you can trust the accuracy of modern translations.

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: Is the Bible reliable? (Session 7/10)
Watch the entire series here: https://evidence4faith.org/portfolio/christianbasics/
Many say they can’t trust the Bible because it has been changed over time. The popular narrative is that the Hebrew people didn’t have a written language until 450 B.C. and much of scripture was written later. However, if we look at the facts, we can trace back the preservation of scripture throughout time. This lesson will give you an overview of how old and accurate our modern scriptures are, and how old the texts are.

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: Historical Prophecies (session 6/10)
Watch the entire series here: https://evidence4faith.org/portfolio/christianbasics/
Fortune telling today is as popular as it was in antiquity. But the attentive observer will note that predictions tend to be vague to retrofit events more easily. Their prophets also tend to have imperfect track records. The Bible is one of the only religious books to contain a multitude of prophecies about world events, and specific instruction on how to verify the credentials of a prophet. This lesson provides an overview of Old Testament prophecies, when they were written, and when they were fulfilled.

Thanksgiving Blessings (recorded at Eaglebrook Church)
DONATE: https://evidence4faith.org/give/
Happy Thanksgiving!!! How has your year been? It can be hard to see the good things when your year has been filled with heartache, pain, and disaster. Often, we can fall into depression and start to believe that God has abandoned us. This is not what scripture teaches us. Through the examples of scripture and his own personal experience, Michael explains how we can apply scripture to difficult times and find the blessings in the suffering.

This session concludes our Bible study in Ephesians 6:10-20 on the Armor of God. There is one last piece that is often overlooked missing from our armory yet: prayer. A key part of relationships is communication. If we have a relationship with God, we should be talking to Him often. That is what prayer is: talking to God! Paul instructs the Ephesians to be praying at all times! How often are you talking to God throughout your day?

The Helmet of Salvation is often identified as the moment we are saved. However, Paul is writing to Christian who are already saved and salvation is not something that can be earned or has to be earned daily. So what salvation is Paul referring to? The Armor of God is about spiritual warfare and defending against Satan. A blow to the head is just as deadly in real life as a blow to your mind is deadly to your faith. Put on your helmet!

Shields are another useful item for protection. Ephesians 6:16 we are to protect ourselves from the “flaming darts of the evil one.” The Romans had a tactic to mitigate flaming arrows from setting their wooden shields on fire. Flaming arrows that Christians face include seducing temptations, pride, and greed that lead us into disobedience to God. The Shield of Faith can not only protect us from these arrows, but also extinguish them. Have you picked up your shield today?

Watch the whole series: https://evidence4faith.org/portfolio/armorofgod/
The first item of the Armor of God we encounter is described in Ephesians 6:14. It is the Belt of Truth. The belt is an important piece to a soldier’s armor. It helps hold things together and is used as an anchor or foundation piece to attach many of the other armor pieces. It is not insignificant that Paul designates the belt for truth and not one of the other items. In God’s world there is absolute truth. In our secular world, truth is relative. Why is truth important to the Armor and our faith?

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: Why should we care about the Old Covenant? (session 3/10)
Listen to the entire series: https://evidence4faith.org/christianbasics
The Old Covenant or Old Testament is often overlooked in favor of the New Testament. The Old Covenant is criticized for portraying an angry God or being irrelevant to Jesus’ story. As mentioned in the previous lesson, there is a specific reason why Christians need to study the Old and New Testaments together. This lesson will dive deeper into the importance and specific purpose of the Old Testament to help you develop a foundation for further study.
This lesson is from our Basics of Apologetics series. The purpose of this series is to help new believers (and maybe not so new believers) understand the building blocks of their faith and be equipped to investigate the difficult questions about their belief.

BASICS OF APOLOGETICS: Why does the Bible have “Testaments”? (session 2/10)

The Bible is divided into two “testaments.” A common misconception about these “testaments” is that they are completely independent from each other. This idea lacks understanding of why the Bible canon was put together the way it is and what purpose each Testament serves. This session will address these questions and give you a big picture understanding of how these two parts of the Bible work together.

In 1979 the British Museum conducted a dig at the ancient city of Babylon where they found a plethora of clay cylinders covered in writing. These could be considered old library books with important historical records about the city, its rulers, and major events. This cylinder and the works of the historian Josephus help us piece together a picture of the rise and reign of Cyrus. The Bible also contains an account of the reign of Cyrus. How well do these stories match? Can the Bible be trusted as a source of history?

Mary and Martha’s story often singles out Martha as being in the wrong. Is this the correct perspective? Martha is hosting and serving Jesus and his following and fulfilling the responsibilities of a good host. She clearly is working very hard and should be commended on what she does right. Her error seems to be in her motives. How can we avoid doing a good thing for the wrong reason and get our motivation in the right place? This lesson is from our series Keep the Fires Burning, a Bible study series of the minor characters of the Bible that can teach us major lessons. Gehazi gets his priorities mixed up, much like we can get our priorities mixed up when it comes to our own faith and living for God. How do we keep our priorities straight? This lesson is from our series Keep the Fires Burning, a Bible study series of the minor characters of the Bible that can teach us major lessons. Each episode will introduce you to a new character and help you understand why they are mentioned.

ARCHAEOLOGY OF DANIEL: Belshazzar & The Nabonidus Chronicle 5/7
DONATE: https://evidence4faith.org/give/
The Bible describes King Belshazzar as the last king of Babylon before the Medo-Persians took over but history tell us that Nabonidus was king at the time. Is this an error in the biblical record? An archeological artifact called the Nabonidus Chronicle which describes the fall of Babylon and its rulers sheds some light on this apparent discrepancy. This video is from our series on the Archaeology of Daniel. The book of Daniel is the second most criticized book of the Bible (behind Jonah). Each episode in this series takes a look at the archaeological evidence against the Biblical record and what we know to be true. Lot was a man full of youth, wealth, and opportunity. He wasn’t so different from many young people today looking to make their way in the world (except maybe for his wealth). However in trying to establish a place for himself and his family, he traded God’s values for the values of the local culture overtime. He became complacent and invited a host of troubles for his future. This lesson is from our series Keep the Fires Burning, a Bible study series of the minor characters of the Bible that can teach us major lessons. Each episode will introduce you to a new character and help you understand why they are mentioned.

Who gets to define truth? Who gets to define was is just? Is it the government? Is it a community leader? Does everyone get to claim their personal “truth”? During the time of Israel’s Kings, Israel went through many periods of changing their minds on what was true and right. God sends his man Jadon on a mission as a prophet to call the people and the king to repentance. But Jadon was also sent with specific instructions that gives us insight on God’s expectation of truth. This lesson is from our series Keep the Fires Burning, a Bible study series of the minor characters of the Bible that can teach us major lessons. Each episode will introduce you to a new character and help you understand why they are mentioned.
