75th Anniversary: The Strategy of D-Day ( Part Two)
The Details Behind the Largest Seaborne Invasion in History! 75 Years ago, on this Day, June 6, 1944, the Normandy Landings began on the beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword. Operation code-name “Overlord” began on Tuesday, June 6, 1944 and it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. It became known as D-Day-the goal to liberate German-occupied France from Nazi control and lay the foundation for an Allied Victory on the Western Front throughout Europe.
The biggest names in history were all involved in this planning– Prime Minister Winston Churchill, General Dwight David Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin of Russia, General Bernard Montgomery commander of British Forces. Leading the German forces was Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, The Desert Fox. Commanding Rommel was Adolf Hitler leader of the Nazi Party. Hitler rose to power to become dictator of Germany, serving as Chancellor from 1933 and Führer from 1934. During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he initiated World War II in Europe by invading Poland in September 1939.
The amphibious landings on Normandy were preceded by extensive aerial and naval bombardment and an airborne assault-the landing of 24,000 US, British, and Canadian airborne troops shortly after midnight. Allied infantry and armoured divisions began landing on the coast of France at 06:30 am. Planning for the operation had begun in 1943.

Restoring the Constitution with Mark Meckler
Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.” A Convention of States would bring power back to the states and the people and away from unelected bureaucrats who currently make sweeping decisions impacting millions of Americans.
Can the Convention of States be used to enact a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution to help finally bring sanity to our federal budget process?
It boils down to one question: Who do you think should decide what’s best for you and your family. You, or the feds? Those supporting a Convention of States vote for the American People every single time.

The Bricca Murders with JT Townsend
It was an unbelievable crime – hideous, unexpected, baffling. A crime destined to become the most notorious and obsessive cold case in Cincinnati history.
On that long ago day in September 1966, we were horrified by the blaring Bricca murder headlines. Jerry, his pretty wife Linda, and their young daughter Debbie were found stabbed to death in their home in the city’s neighborhood. Striking between the 4th and 5th slayings of the Cincinnati Strangler, the Bricca killer plunged a city already on edge into an abyss.
Opening up any cold case is daunting. Evidence is lost, buried, or forgotten. Contradiction and hearsay muddy the waters. The truth is elusive, shrouded, or shameful.
Enter Cincinnati crime writer JT Townsend. The author of Queen City Gothic was given unprecedented access to the Bricca case file, and gathered information that never saw the light of print – evidence that might illuminate rumors that police “screwed up the crime scene” or “covered up for the suspect.”
There looms one huge, lasting question? Who killed the Bricca family?

Why the Free-and-Fair Election Is In Jeopardy
EmpowerU brings you the long requested class on Google to be presented by Dr. Robert Epstein live Webinar for EmpowerU only. Dr. Epstein's 2015 report entitled "The Search Engine Manipulation Effect (SEME) and Its Possible Impact on the Outcomes of Elections" (https://bit.ly/1REqzEY) has been accessed or downloaded more than 200,000 times from PNAS's (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) website. The report describes one of the largest effects ever discovered in the behavioral sciences, and because SEME is nearly invisible as a source of influence and leaves no paper trail for authorities to follow, it is an especially dangerous form of influence.
Dr. Epstein's research suggests that Search Engine Manipulation Effect is currently determining the outcomes of upwards of 25 percent of the world's national elections and that it is affecting a wide range of opinions, not just voting preferences. In 2016, Dr. Epstein discovered that the search suggestions we see in Google's "autocomplete" can also be used to shift votes and opinions without people's knowledge - a manipulation he calls the "Search Suggestion Effect" (SSE).
Dr. Epstein has also built the only systems ever deployed to capture the ephemeral content that search engines show people. In the days leading up to the 2016 presidential election in the U.S., he preserved 13,207 election-related searches on Google, Bing, and Yahoo, along with the 98,044 web pages to which the search results linked. He found a significant pro-Clinton bias in Google search results (but not in Bing or Yahoo results), sufficient to have convinced between 2.6 and 10.4 million undecided voters to vote for Mrs. Clinton without knowing they had been influenced. Dr. Epstein reported these findings even though he was a Clinton supporter and is not a conservative politically.
In 2018, he preserved 47,294 searches and 392,274 web pages, again finding a significant pro-liberal bias only on the Google search engine. This time the bias was sufficient to have shifted upwards of 78.2 million votes to Democrats (spread across hundreds of elections). He is currently raising funds to build a much larger and more comprehensive monitoring system in 2020, one that will monitor many potentially biased sources of online influence, not just search results. You can donate money to aid in this effort at http://MyGoogleResearch.com.

Invasion of the Resource Snatchers: Invasive Plants & Animals of the Cincinnati Region
Join us to learn what invasive species are and how they are one of the leading threats to biodiversity, imposing enormous costs to agriculture, forestry, fisheries and human health.
Biological invasions are going on all around us. Our forests, waterways, parks, and even backyards are being invaded by plants and animals from around the world.
In the U.S., invasive species cause billions of dollars in damage each year, and threaten native plants and animals.
The Cincinnati Museum Center’s Zoology staff will discuss the species that are out of place and out of control in our region. How did these species get here? What makes a species invasive? You will learn how invasive species arrive in new locations and spread rapidly, and what effects they have on our native ecosystems.
The class will include case studies of common local invaders as well as significant biological invasions worldwide. We’ll also talk about invasive species that are likely to appear in our area in the future.

The Life of Justice Scalia
Empower U is pleased to have attorney Matthew Byrne join us to expound on the life and influence of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Justice Scalia served on the United States Supreme Court from 1986 until his sudden death in 2016. He is perhaps best known for his stirring dissenting opinions, which he wrote in order to influence generations of law students. But Justice Scalia was more than just a frequent dissenter: he was the intellectual leader of the legal movements in favor of originalism and textualism in constitutional and statutory interpretation.
Those on the right and left agree that Justice Scalia was one of the most important legal minds of the last hundred years. When she was still dean of Harvard Law School, Justice Elena Kagan stated that “[Justice Scalia’s] views on textualism and originalism, his views on the role of judges in our society, on the practice of judging, have really transformed the terms of legal debate in this country. He is the justice who has had the most important impact over the years on how we think and talk about law.”
Mr. Byrne will discuss Justice Scalia’s work and some of the major threads of his legal thought, as well as why Justice Scalia has been so influential. He will also use the discussion of Justice Scalia’s work to highlight some of the issues that likely will be discussed in the confirmation hearings for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch.

Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire and Mike Gibbons
On May 28, 1977, the Beverly Hills Supper Club with its fabled chandeliers, gold flocked white wallpaper, acres of plush red carpets, a sweeping spiral staircase with ornate golden railings and the opulent Cabaret Room that was featuring John Davidson that evening, was the “Showplace of the Nation.” Forty one years ago a fire swept through this beautiful building on the hill like an unstoppable freight train. There were 2500 people in the club that evening, 165 and two unborn babies would lose their lives that night. The once famous club was now in smoldering ruins with the dead and dying lying on the hillside, some not to be found until the fourth day, inside not able to escape. Tragedy had struck Northern Kentucky and was felt throughout the Tri State. What caused this beautiful place once billed as “Las Vegas on the Ohio River” to suddenly go up in flames and leave the area devastated. Was it faulty wiring? Was it arson? Was the mob involved? You’ll hear firsthand from a survivor the nightmare of that evening, and the theories surrounding the cause. Some call it a conspiracy to cover up the most deadly crime in Kentucky history, but is it a conspiracy? Many in the Tri-State today remember the fire as if it were yesterday, many knew people that were there and survived, and many survivors are stuck in the past. Wayne Dammert has a compelling story and evidence of the happenings leading up to that eventful tragic evening when the final curtain fell on the Beverly Hills Supper Club.

Morgan's Great Raid Around Cincinnati: America's Longest Cavalry Ride
From July 2-26, 1863, while the great battles at Gettysburg and Vicksburg captured the attention of the American people, Confederate Brigadier General John Hunt Morgan led nearly 2,500 cavalrymen on a daring raid into the North. Morgan’s objective was to distract the Union forces under Major General William Rosecrans and Major General Ambrose Burnside from building up enough momentum to wrestle the mostly pro-Union East Tennessee region from its Confederate occupants, and push General Braxton Bragg’s Army of Tennessee beyond its supply base at Chattanooga. Morgan’s incursion into Indiana and Ohio would produce the effect he desired, but it would end with disastrous results for his famous division. Mowery’s presentation will discuss Morgan’s Great Raid as it passed through three Union-held states and circumvented Cincinnati, which at the time was the seventh largest city in the United States and which served as the headquarters for Burnside’s department. Morgan’s special-forces operation represented the pinnacle of Morgan’s strategic and tactical skills and the best of his division’s raiding capabilities. No other American mounted infantry division on horseback would ever achieve what Morgan’s raiders accomplished on the Great Raid of 1863.
