Bloating - It's Not Always Digestive
Happy Almost Fall! While I LOVE summer I have to admit this one was so hot and dry that I’m not complaining about a cooling trend!
As I think about some of the most common health complaints I see, bloating is right there at the top of the list.
Bloating is described as retention of gas in the intestines. Some feel the pressure as high as in the stomach and central rib area while some have lower abdominal bloating. Some have entire abdomens swollen and puffy and describe it as feeling of being “pregnant”. Not all pass gas when they are bloated and sometimes it can be super-duper painful – like “take me to the hospital” painful. Some describe a gurgling sound while others experience no sounds at all.
Most people believe that their bloating is derived from the digestive tract, however there are multiple other causes of bloating that are important to consider. Although bloating is most commonly caused by digestive distress there are numerous other causes of bloating that are important/crucial to consider.
DIGESTIVE CAUSES
1. Gastritis – inflammation of the stomach – usually described as having a balloon high up in the abdomen right below the sternum
2. SIBO/IBS – one of the most common causes of bloating is bacteria (that shouldn’t be in the small intestine) eating your food and producing gas. Remember SIBO/IBS are symptoms and should never be the diagnosis!
3. Candida or Parasites – believe it or not Candida is not as common as one would think and is a symptom of a dysfunctional gut microbiome!
4. Food sensitivities – poor reactions to foods – usually though this is due to #7 below and not the food itself!
5. Undigested food – poor pancreatic enzyme and hydrochloric acid output so you’re left with partially undigested food which can ferment and is a burden on the small intestine.
6. Fermentable foods (those high in FODMaPs) – gas promoting foods such as beans, legumes, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, apples, avocado, etc.
7. Histamine – high levels of histamine in the gut due to a dysfunctional gut microbiome – namely low Bifidobacterium species or overgrowth of histamine-producing species
8. Slow transit – poor macro-motility – peristalsis – so foods sit giving a feeling of fullness
9. Over-eating – just putting too much food into a system that can’t work as fast as you are shoveling it in😊
OTHER IMPORTANT CAUSES
1. Reproductive System Problems – ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids
2. Liver Disease – sometimes it’s not air but fluid known as ascites
3. PMS – sometimes it’s that week before your period and you just feel puffy in the belly
4. High estrogen levels – this is a cause of a lot of bloating and most don’t realize it
5. Cancer – many cancers can cause the sensation of bloating – certainly digestive cancers can but there are some cancers caught late because bloating is dismissed by your doctor. Three cancers come to mind – ovarian, uterine and pancreatic. They are often missed early because they can first manifest with simple bloating and the feeling that you fill up with food fast (early satiety). The bloating experienced can be actual bloating or fluid build-up (ascites).
Now don’t go getting terrified on me because I mentioned the dreadful “C” word – cancer. Yes, it’s true that several cancers’ first symptoms are digestive and bloating tops the list. That’s why they are so overlooked and caught late – think ovarian and pancreatic. So many practitioners will brush off bloating when their clients express that symptom and quite a few have missed important, early diagnoses by doing this.
Here's a story for you – a heavier-set female client came to me after seeing several gastroenterologists for her distended belly, bloating and painless “spasms” in her belly – with no answers. Not one doctor bothered to get a true, full history. Once I heard her history, I asked her to immediately go and buy a pregnancy test. She did and it was POSITIVE and she gave birth `1 week later! She didn’t even know she was pregnant!! They were so determined to focus on her bloating that they missed she was full-term!
Can you see why conventional medicine breaking up into specialties is a problem. If you go to a gastroenterologist for your bloating but your bloating is hormonal in nature they cannot/will not help you or guide you properly because they aren’t always going to ask all of the questions necessary. Also, insurance (or their ego) can prevent them from running diagnostic imaging to verify that the cause isn’t something more obvious or ominous – like a pelvic and/or abdominal ultrasound to rule out pregnancy, ovarian, uterine or pancreatic causes. Always see a practitioner that sees you as a WHOLE – not a system.
It all comes down to this - never assume any symptom is what it seems. It takes a good diagnostician to fully work-up a client and think of all possible causes of symptoms and not just brush them off!
SO what to do?
First off see a practitioner who is willing to take your symptoms seriously! Don’t let them blow off your symptoms by diagnosing you with IBS (a complete made-up diagnosis) and offer you no real solutions or simply the medication that goes with that “form” of IBS.
The key is to find the source of your bloating – regardless of what system it is in.
You don’t have to live with bloating. It’s not always easy to find the cause but we owe it to our clients to fully assess each one as an individual and run appropriate and comprehensive testing.
ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE ROOT CAUSE!

Histamine or Gut Histamine or Both?
One of the most important markers I look at for my clients is the level of histamine in the gut.
What IS histamine exactly? It’s a neuro-immune modulator, a chemical made by the immune system, to get rid of things that don’t belong – part of your defense system.
When an “agitator” is recognized by the body there is a message sent to your body’s mast cells to release histamine and they then flood your system – the symptoms we experience are the reactions of histamine on specific cells or organs – they increase blood flow to the area that is in harm’s way and will trigger a response (inflammation) to get rid of the “allergen” to protect the cell/organ. The inflammation caused by histamine draws attention to other immune cells to come in and correct the problem. Think of spring allergies – pollen triggers the release of histamines which travel to the mucous membranes in the nose, increase blood flow and mucous and you’re left with a stuffy and runny nose. But this was for your protection!
If you’ve ever suffered with allergies, then you know about histamine! Think Benadryl or Claritin or Zyrtec – those are ANTI-histamines (Histamine-1 [H1] receptor antagonists to be exact).
But when there is a never-ending release of histamines you can get systemic responses and symptoms:
• Migraines
• Bloating
• Feeling sick
• Gas
• Abdominal pain
• Vomiting
• Constipation
• Edema
• Muscle aches
• Pain
• Stuffy nose
• Asthma
• Hives
• Dizziness
• Psoriasis
While inflammation is essential to healing – chronic and uncontrolled inflammation is a problem!
But did you even know histamine was IN the gut??
Histamine is in the gut in rather large amounts. If you think about it the gut is one of the organs that has direct contact with the outside world so must constantly be on alert, looking for invaders. The same holds true for the lungs.
How many people are on medications like Zantac and Pepcid?! Well, those are actually Histamine-2 (H2) receptor antagonists.
For example, we have a peptide in our gut called gastrin – gastrin’s job is to cause the release of histamine in the stomach which in turn produces stomach acid.
Histamine blockers block gastrin and histamine production in stomach therefore lower stomach acid.
Where there’s histamine there’s inflammation and what I see daily is the buildup and unusually high amounts of histamine in the gut in about 75+% of labs I review.
But, did you know this is one of the greatest factors in food sensitivities?
This is EXACTLY why I say you can food test for “allergies” or sensitivities all you want but simply eliminating those foods will never solve your problem. It’s not WHAT you’re sensitive to – it’s WHY you are sensitive! Simply eliminating those foods does not lower your histamine!
Then how does it all work?
In a normal world/body, after histamine is released, it then SHOULD be degraded by 2 enzymes – DAO (diamine oxidase) and HNMT (histamine-N-methyltransferase). It is thought that DAO works outside of the cells to degrade histamine while HNMT works inside of the cells.
These enzymes are most highly concentrated in the gut.
There have been numerous studies looking at histamine concentrations following a pro-inflammatory meal. Think about that…one meal changes the cascade of histamine!
But if you are one of those who have high gut histamine (think bucket overflowing with water [histamine]) then think of one meal that your body considers agitating – and you’ve just added more water to that bucket and it’s overflowing even more giving you excess symptoms – usually presenting as strong “food reactions/sensitivities”.
As I mentioned above, we have tools in place that once our bodies release histamine that it doesn’t stay around very long and cause long-term problems.
WHY SO MUCH HISTAMINE IN THE GUT THESE DAYS?
Diet for one - our Standard American Diet (SAD) sucks the life out of us literally. But if you suffer with high gut histamine, did you realize that even “healthy foods” like fermented foods (raw sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi, kombucha, etc.) are super high in histamine?
Did you know strawberries and spinach are high in histamine? Also, alcohol.
But, once again, the problem isn’t the food – it’s WHY YOU HAVE HIGH HISTAMINE – always getting back to the “WHY”!
So, removing high histamine foods can help symptoms short-term but we need a permanent fix, right?!
Some have a deficiency in DAO – this can be acquired. Acquired DAO deficiency can be seen in gastrointestinal diseases like SIBO, IBS, IBD (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis) but also with increased alcohol consumption and medications like ibuprofen, histamine blockers, anti-depressant, antibiotics, etc.
But my experience is that it is due to more than DAO deficiency but to a fully dysfunctional gut microbiome (due to poor diet, medications, antibiotics, glyphosate, and more).
Taking the wrong probiotic can be a HUGE factor too!
Some probiotic strains actually raise histamine levels like Lactobacillus species like L. bulgaricus, L. casei, L. delbrueckii, L. lactis, and L. reuteri.
Then there are pathogenic species that cause a rise in gut histamine as well, such as Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Enterococcus faecalis and some types of E. coli.
But then you have certain strains of bacteria help degrade histamine. Many strains of Bifidobacterium will lower levels of histamine in the gut, particularly B. infantis. But there are some strains of Lactobacillus that help to break down histamine as well, such as L. plantarum, L. Rhamnosus, L. salivarius. We know very well that antibiotics and glyphosate kill Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species.
What the heck does all this mean?!?!
What it means is that we must find the source of the histamine overload in the gut.
Is it from pro-inflammatory meals (even perceived as “healthy meals”)?
Is your gut microbiome low in the histamine-reducing strains?
Is it high in the histamine producers?
Do you take the wrong probiotic for you?
Honestly, I love the BiomeFX test because it shows me so much including histamine levels – so I get to see the depth of levels of inflammation in the gut as well as the status of the health of the gut microbiome altogether!
But in addition to this I look for leaky gut, or the deficiency of a specific gut microbe called Akkermansia muciniphila. I absolutely love this bug! Its job is to “eat” the mucous lining of the gut. By doing this it allows for the lining to regenerate and always be in tip-top shape preventing leaky gut. When it’s deficient then leaky gut is highly possible. I see this in at least 50% of clients.
When you have the perfect storm of leaky gut and high histamine you can see all those symptoms I listed above as well as a host of other possible health issues including autoimmune diseases and cancers.
The gut lining is designed to be a tight and locked door with a “bouncer” – only allowing the right things in and out of the gut. If that door is left wide open anything can cross into the blood stream and “freak out” the body with things it would not normally see – then you have a highly over-reactive system.
I know I say it all the time but there is no health without gut health and whenever there is a histamine problem – you MUST look at the gut!

Cholesterol: The Real Story
It’s interesting that no matter how “educated” and “informed” I find a client many still have a hang up about cholesterol levels – good or bad. I hear things like “I’m so healthy but I can’t get my cholesterol levels down.” or “My doctor says I’m healthy because I have a cholesterol of 170.”
Always a focus on cholesterol as a measure of total health and it couldn’t be farther from the truth!
Boy, has Big pHARMa done a great job at brainwashing the masses into thinking that cholesterol levels are the end-all-be-all to health when in fact it’s a small piece of the health puzzle.
Who came up with the “healthy level for cholesterol” at 200?? Yep – you guessed it – the pharmaceutical companies! There is NOTHING magical about that number except once again it gives conventional practitioners a reason to prescribe a drug – some are now prescribing statins at 180!!
A study done in 2008 called the Jupiter Study (Justification for the Use of Statins in Primary Prevention) showed a significantly favorable result using a statin (Rosuvastatin/Crestor) and significantly less heart attacks and strokes in people with low heart attack/stroke risk but high C-Reactive Protein markers. The study was designed for 5 years but was stopped at 1.5 years because “unequivocal evidence of a reduction in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality amongst patients who received CRESTOR when compared to placebo.”
What came out of the biased study was the new idea of the use of statins in PREVENTION – so give these drugs to low-risk, healthy people – that creates MORE CUSTOMERS!!
In 2010 – unaffiliated researchers took a second look at the data from the Jupiter Study and found the opposite of the original study - NO evidence of decreased coronary deaths and they uncovered the incredible bias of the researchers and drug company involved.
Nine of 14 authors had financial ties to AstraZeneca (the makers of Crestor) and guess what else – the entire study was funded by AstraZeneca!
A strong belief of why the study was stopped 3 ½ years early was to cover up side effects that would have shown themselves more clearly at the 5 year mark
You do remember me saying ALWAYS read who funds the research, right?!?! Do you honestly think a pharmaceutical company is going to let research stand that doesn’t support the use of their drug? They just tweak results to fit their narrative – it’s always been this way and always will be this way
My Mom had a stroke almost 3 years ago. They ran bloodwork including lipids/cholesterol. Next thing they try to prescribe was 40mg of Lipitor. We immediately asked to see blood results when they were available. We were SHOCKED to see my mom’s total cholesterol was 141! 141!! And they wanted to prescribe the highest dose of a statin to lower it further! When we challenged it they were perplexed why she didn’t want to take the statin. We asked them why they would prescribe a statin when her cholesterol was already SO low (dangerously low in my eyes). Their response “well, because she had a stroke and that’s what we give”. She already had damage done to her brain due to the stroke so to deprive her brain from the healing powers of cholesterol was flat-out negligence!
So much of conventional medicine is nothing more than “fit the diagnosis with the drug” – there is very little thought put into treatments. Shameful really – how many people out there are being given statins only to make their situation worse??
Let’s begin by gaining a better understanding what cholesterol is and why it is absolutely essential to our health. Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in ALL cells and made by the liver – it plays many roles in the body including forming stress and sex hormones (cortisol, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone), making vitamin D, it’s found in cell membranes, makes bile (a fluid that helps digest fat) and insulates nerve cells. But few realize that cholesterol is also a potent anti-oxidant, an anti-inflammatory molecule, scavenges free radicals and senses abnormal cells like those in cancer.
LDL (low density lipoprotein – considered “bad”) and HDL (high-density lipoprotein – considered “good”) are lipoproteins – they are NOT cholesterol. They are part fat and part protein and are transporters of cholesterol. HDL brings cholesterol back to the liver and LDL takes cholesterol to the rest of the body from the liver.
When the liver senses toxicity it will increase LDL and cholesterol and send it out into the bloodstream and into tissues to address the toxin and oxidative stress. We tend to “shoot the messenger” and try to lower LDL and cholesterol instead of better assessing the toxicity and oxidative stress issues in the body. If we addressed that then cholesterol and LDL levels would stabilize naturally.
We tend to think that’s “bad” that it will “clog” the blood vessels but don’t you think the liver is smarter than us? SO do we kill the messenger or do we address what I’ve discussed before – oxidative stress and inflammation??
Now it is true that LDL and cholesterol can become oxidized when inflammation is out of control – this will lead to irritation of blood vessels and that’s when plaques can form.
I have said for many years that cholesterol does not CAUSE heart disease! But so many still believe that it does and they worry about the familial risk of hyperlipidemia and familial heart disease only from a standpoint of cholesterol – but the real risk of heart disease is oxidative stress, inflammation and uncontrolled blood sugar and insulin.
In my practice over the years I have worked with people who want to better understand their own cholesterol. Many think to give up animal products is the way to lower cholesterol but I have found very interesting ways for people to stabilize their own levels by removing underlying inflammation.
With this in mind my clients and I worked on ideas on what is your body sensing as a “toxin” that you are being protected from? Heavy metals? Alcohol? Toxic marriage? Dairy? Grains? I have had patients that have had a significant response in cholesterol number changes with clients removing each of these – yes, one client got a divorce, changed NOTHING in his diet and his total cholesterol dropped 100 points in 2 months! Another experiment was a client who stopped her nightly glass of wine – down over 100 points in 30 days – yep that’s it – 1 glass of wine!
You must realize cholesterol is a messenger. We shouldn’t ignore it but I also don’t believe in simply lowering it by using even natural statins like Red Yeast Rice – which acts just like a pharmaceutical statin – only milder.
In my holistic opinion, statin drugs are dangerous – they are strongly known to cause mild to severe muscle pain and potential life-threatening muscle damage due to the inhibition of the formation of Coenzyme Q10 – a crucial nutrient in muscle health and integrity. Also, over the years some studies have shown potential long-term detrimental effects they have on other parts of the body like increasing chances for developing Type 2 Diabetes, Breast Cancer in post-menopausal women and Alzheimer’s.
Remember - the body is wise.
We MUST effectively address the underlying issues of inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolic imbalance through diet, lifestyle, hormone health and gut health instead of throwing medications and supplements at the messengers!

Is Intermittent Fasting Right for YOU?
Should YOU try intermittent Fasting?
I’m certain you have heard about the enormous benefits of Intermittent Fasting (IF) or Time-Restricted Eating (TRE), right??
If not, then here’s the deal – IF/TRE is a practice of fasting for longer periods throughout the 24 hours of a day. And when I say “fast” I mean no calories at all.
There are many ways to approach IF:
1. 16/8 – fast for 16 hours then eat for 8 hours
2. 12/12 – fast for 12 hours and eat for 12 hours
3. 24/2 – yep, fast for 22 hours and eat for 2 (also known as the “snake diet”
4. 5/2 – eat normal 5 days per week and eat limited calories (500 calories usually) for 2 non-consecutive days a week.
WHY DO THIS? The reasons are plentiful for sure!
WHERE IT GOES RIGHT:
1. Stimulates autophagy – natural clearing of old, dead/diseased cells and replace with healthy cells – this improves lifespan/longevity
2. Shown to stimulate metabolism and promote weight loss and fat burning
3. Can decrease inflammation and oxidative stress as shown in inflammatory blood markers
4. Can improve insulin resistance
5. May improve immunity – it’s being used as a treatment for Covid Long Haulers
6. May Improve cognition/brain health
7. Many more…
WHERE IT CAN GO WRONG:
1. Eat too many pro-inflammatory foods or eat whatever
2. Eat too much
3. Wait too long to eat – some suffer hypoglycemic events
4. Eat too late/too close to bedtime
5. Dangerous if you had/have an eating disorder
6. Eat too little and suffer from nutrient deficiencies
7. Negatively impact fertility – not recommended while trying to get pregnant
8. Not recommended when pregnant or nursing
Tons and tons of studies have been performed on IF/TRE and those studies have shown amazing results.
Problem is that there are very, very few studies performed on women. They have exclusively been done with male subjects.
So many women I know have tried/are trying IF. It works beautifully for some and not so beautifully for others.
Many women try IF for weight loss, but most choose to fast when they wake until lunchtime - then they eat a hearty meal for lunch/late lunch and then eat dinner.
But many don’t feel better, lighter, or leaner.
This piqued my interest years ago – could it in fact be detrimental to some women?
Turns out, yes, it can.
So, why is that?
WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT FROM MEN! That’s why! :)
Women are much more predisposed and sensitive to stressors than men. And tend to have much more hormonal instability in general. That stress aims straight at our reproductive and thyroid hormones. When women are stressed it sends multiple signals to stop reproductive hormones and slow down thyroid hormones because it is telling the body we cannot be capable of reproducing - we are in “survival mode” and must shut down metabolism and simply focus on survival.
So, starvation and low body fat can have the exact same response in a woman – a large stressor – think of a gymnast who stops menstruating when their body fat is low. Their body has perceived they are under duress therefore could not be healthy enough to reproduce.
For women IF can be perceived as starvation (a major stress) very quickly. What happens next?
1. Perceived stress releases cortisol and decreases a hormone called kisspeptin
2. Cortisol release increases blood sugar and insulin resistance and starts the storage of abdominal fat as a protective mechanism (yeah, it’s a crappy way to protect, right!?)
3. Reduced kisspeptin reduces Gonadotropin-releasing hormone which reduces Luteinizing hormone and Follicle stimulating hormone which reduces estrogen and progesterone production – even short fasts can reduce all of them
4. Low estrogen causes mid-section weight gain, dementia, insulin resistance, bone loss and decreased metabolism
Therefore, we can see multiple mechanisms to cause negative results from IF in some scenarios – abdominal weight gain, general weight gain, insulin resistance, decrease in brain function, loss of bone, etc.
Women who are most vulnerable to a negative impact of IF seem to have hormonal instability – a time in life when hormones are already in flux – namely perimenopause (the time when reproductive age is ending but menstrual bleeding is still happening - roughly age 35-55).
But a big problem I see is that many women (and men) are struggling with unstable hormones at all ages – it’s almost an epidemic I see regularly these days – so it’s not just perimenopausal women as much.
But then there is a small study that showed fasting improved markers in women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).
So should YOU fast regularly? Whelp the jury is out. What I DO suggest is not take ANY dietary/health advice without it being individualized for YOU! In other words – if a practitioner tells you to fast regularly and you feel bad then do not do it. If you feel great and have health improvements, then it’s a good match for you. As I always say about diet – there is no one diet that everyone should do – I also say for IF/TRE. There’s no one style that works for everyone.
I personally find that I do my best with a high protein meal following my morning work out right after I wake. So that’s eating within 1 hour of waking – even if that’s 6am. And I eat until I am content and full and happy. Then I wait 4 hours and eat another protein-rich meal then another meal after another 4 hours. I like to leave at least 3 hours before bed with no food/calories. I also regularly test my hormones a few times/year. That’s how I feel my best. You need to experiment with different fasting tactics to see what makes YOU feel your best and work with your practitioner to individualize your approach!.
Regardless of how you eat and fast I strongly advise that every person should know if their hormones are balanced and properly detoxed for optimal health!

Seriously, More Viruses?
Well, seems like there’s a “new virus” appearing already – “MONKEYPOX”.
A few months back I told you this would happen and this won’t be the last time!
For many of us doing daily research we don’t find this surprising at all to see yet another virus make it’s way around. And apparently the US is releasing it’s “monkeypox vaccine from the national stockpile” Surprise!
Some very reliable resources are actually reporting “monkeypox” to be a Covid vaccine side effect of shingles – yep, that’s what I said – it might not even be Monkeypox but Shingles.
But another theory is that there was a leak in Wuhan last year of Monkeypox. China is blaming the US and the US is blaming China and the media is saying “don’t worry, YET”.
If you haven’t figured out by now then I’m sure I’m not gonna convince you – if you rely on media sources for your information then you are screwed – FEAR PORN CENTRAL! You are easily manipulated if you are fearful, weak and sick!
Is there any reason to be afraid? Y’all know I don’t fall prey to the latest scare tactics but I thought it would be a good time to reiterate things I’ve said in the past.
It TRULY doesn’t matter what virus comes down the pike because apparently there will be more and more and more if you paid attention to history and you pay attention to Main Stream Media.
BUT, do you honestly believe you can vaccinate yourself out of EVERY health assault? If so, I’m not your person to follow! 🙂
But there are many who buy heavily into the fear porn hook, line and sinker and will line up for the next one and the next one and the next one.
Over-vaccination leads to an incredibly weakened immune system. PERIOD. There will always be that next virus and next vax and next virus and next vax and on and on and on.
What exactly should you be doing? Freaking out, masking up, rolling up your sleeve and staying indoors??
Or should you be spending time improving your health, boosting your immune system and living your life and taking realistic and common sense-style prevention approaches.
But I need you to know and understand that this will never end.
As I’ve said in the past “Viruses are gonna virus”.
You will never live a sterile life and living in fear will make you sicker than a virus! (See my last newsletter on stress 😉
WHAT TO DO:
1. Stop freaking out about every new virus that’s being reported
2. Get your nutrition in order – there is no one diet that works for everyone but at least EAT. WHOLE. FOOD!
3. Figure out what goes right and wrong in your gut Microbiome! This is truly where your immunity starts and ends.
4. Better understand your hormones and get them in balance – don’t just go on Bioidentical HRT! That’s not balance!
5. Get some bloodwork done and assess your current inflammatory status and risk factors!
6. Do a good detox 2x/year – in other words clean out your body’s filter like you would do for your car!
These are the basics! Without these foundations in order nothing else matters.
Sure I’ve listed my research on supplements in previous newsletter and what/how certain nutraceuticals may help boost but as I always say – YOU CANNOT SUPPLEMENT YOURSELF OUT OF A CRUDDY DIET AND LIFESTYLE! If you don’t clean those up first then don’t bother taking supporting supplements.
However, If you have been working on your foundation health then supplements like THESE can be of benefit! Now, I don’t mean ALL of them – these are just some of my favorites.
I’m always happy to help in any way that I can. While I’m not currently accepting new program clients at this time I am still able and happy to help get you lab tested, evaluated and provide some health direction based on those results so you can feel more confident in moving in a positive direction with your own health!
Knowledge is power only if you act on it!!

Covid Origins debated - Should it matter?
If you’re paying attention AT ALL then you’d be hearing about all of the talk about viral “origins” for the last 2 years.
BUT, over the past 2 weeks I’ve been asked about one in particular – the possibility of the presence of snake venom or snake venom derivatives in the water supply as described and researched by Dr. Bryan Ardis. Maybe you heard this theory and maybe you have not. It’s hotly contested and argued both for and against.
Regardless, there are a few things I want to share with you!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE:
1. Do NOT rely ONLY on me for all of your information
2. Do NOT rely on ANY ONE person, institution, reporting agency, scientific journal for all of your information
3. Do NOT let anyone tell you that the “science is settled” – those words do NOT go together no matter WHO tells you so!
4. And, ANYONE who tries to discredit another scientist’s theory or research within the first week of it being introduced is NOT to be trusted! It is impossible that they had ample time to review all of the information regarding the theory. And this goes for ALL theories. I glean valuable information from all theories out there – there’s value in ALL research. But those that “poo-poo” a person’s research out of the gates are doing a GREAT injustice to science in general.
WHY, you ask? Because this is what I see ALL day long on social media and medical groups I am in. Bashing each other and each other’s theories.
It’s disappointing!
What I do know is everyone and their brother have theories about viral origins and then they have strategies to prevent or treat and everyone is trying to be “big man on campus” with those theories and treatments. They ALL seem to believe their way is the right way and are NOT open to new possibilities or nuggets of possibilities within someone else’s research or thoughts because it wasn’t their’s.
Ridiculous and anti-science! Science is NEVER settled – there’s ALWAYS room for more theories – more theories give us more answers over time. Egos are getting in the way all around here!
Everyone clamoring to be top dog!
So you know what I think?
I don’t care what the origins are! (OK not entirely true:):)
What I care about is watching and researching HOW this is affecting people. Meaning – how it presents in people (short-term and long-lasting effects), who is most likely to be vaccine-injured, who is most likely to have long-haulers, what damage is being done by the spike proteins in even healthy individuals and what to watch for in the future.
That’s where MY interest lies.
How can I help YOU be best prepared, be best healed long-term.
What effects are we seeing short-term and long-term from the spike protein? And I say Spike protein because that’s honestly what it’s coming down to. There is a spike protein whether you get the virus “naturally” or through vaccination. Whether we like it or not there are side-effects (short and long-term) regardless of how you “got” those spike proteins. That’s what I look at – what kind of damage are we seeing due to the spike protein, how long does it last and then I pull my knowledge from natural medicine and research to determine what I know to prevent this damage or treat this damage naturally.
Top things we are seeing:
1. Oxidative Stress – DNA damage – DNA damage leads to more disease
2. Endothelial damage – and fibrin deposition – leads to clotting and vessel narrowing
3. Increase in auto-immune predisposition
4. Amyloid deposits – creating a whole host of issues including Cardiac amyloidosis and Alzheimer’s disease
5. Hormone disruptions – thyroid, estrogen, testosterone
This is where MY focus lies. How to make all of us as healthy as possible and prevent any type of damage or treat the damage as early as possible to prevent long-term health issues.
So instead of focusing on where it came from, I suggest recognizing that it’s here and keeping an open mind, armed with as much information as you can handle and stay healthy as you can!!
As I learn how to help I will let y’all know first thing!
Back to research!😊
Hugs!

Thermography - What's it All About?
Let's talk thermography!
Did you know that the human body has a VERY specific temperature pattern? And changes in this pattern, because of inflammation or disease, can be detected using thermal imaging? Thermography or Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is a non-invasive screening tool that uses a specialized camera to measure extremely subtle temperature changes on the skin’s surface that correlate physiologically to underlying dysfunction or pathology.
The temperature changes are based on how nerves stimulate the skin and can indicate different health issues. We are not looking for “hot spots” as most think but a subtle temperature gradient change from what is classified as “normal” or healthy. It’s quite mathematical and not just “eyeballing” color differences!
While other screening tools, such as mammography, MRI and ultrasound are looking for STRUCTURAL abnormalities (such as a tumor at least pea-sized), Thermography looks for FUNCTIONAL abnormalities (the process that occurs before a tumor grows) – such as new blood vessel development (“angiogenesis”). New blood vessels develop under VERY specific conditions – often when the body is trying to “grow something new”.
It’s best known for its role in breast health, but many are learning that it can be used to assess almost the entire body! Important to note - it’s not helpful directly for brain issues, however.
In addition, thermography can be helpful in differentiating the origin of pain anywhere in the body whether neurological, muscle, bone or cardiovascular providing more information for effective treatments.
There is no radiation, no skin contact and no discomfort. Thermography is useful in ANY condition. There are no contraindications and can be safely performed on anyone. For best results specifically for breast imaging it should be repeated 3 months after the initial scan to establish an individual baseline then once per year thereafter. We repeat initial breast imaging at 3 months to verify there are no changes in temperature gradients. In other words – vasculature of breasts should NOT change over time (unless a woman is pregnant and/or lactating!). We know that breast cancer cells significantly increase over a 3 month period and we want to look for those changes early rather than wait 6+ months – too long!!
While a client gets great information from their first thermography it excels when comparing multiple images over time. The initial set of images are then compared to the second set and the third set, etc. - over time this gives a better overall view of health – in essence it’s like “mapping” the body’s physiology each time.
Thermographic images are interpreted by Board-certified MD Clinical Thermologists. Much like a Radiologist, a Thermologist is trained to interpret images taken by a Thermographer using a thermal camera. These results are then presented in a report as interpretation of findings.
Some of the health issues we have found it helpful for:
1. Breast Health Screening – especially Dense breasts
2. Unexplained pain – not identified through standard screening tools (MRI, Ultrasound, Xray, CT)
3. Carotid artery blockage
4. Autoimmune issues
5. Carpal tunnel
6. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
7. Inflammatory Breast Cancer – mostly undetectable with mammography
8. Dental issues – particularly root canals “gone wrong”
9. Lymph node issues
10. TMJ Disorders
11. Cancer treatment progress
12. Pain treatment progress
13. And much, much more!!
The FDA has made it mandatory for me to tell you that it shouldn’t be used as a stand-alone assessment – specifically for breast tissue.
Now I must admit – this is the ONLY thing I will agree with the FDA on! 😊
It is an adjunctive/supportive screening tool and is not a replacement for diagnostic tools (such as biopsies) but can provide crucial information on the origin of symptoms as well as identify pre-disease states resulting in early diagnosis. Research shows that thermal imaging can detect some cancers 8-10 years before they are visible on mammogram therefore allowing the golden opportunity for preventative treatments.
But for breast health – if someone feels a lump I ALWAYS recommend a breast ultrasound. Don’t rely on thermography (or mammography) only - EVER!
I have used thermography in my practice for 11 years now and ONLY used Meditherm equipment – it’s superior to any other system out there. The medical doctors who interpret our images are highly trained and represent a variety of medical specialties, including pathology, emergency medicine, OB/Gyn and more.
Like other inexpensive and effective things in natural medicine, Thermography is often demonized because it’s not a big money maker for the medical system like other screening tools, but it offers great information for those needing answers or wanting to have an annual assessment of health.
Downside is that it’s the only part of my practice that cannot be virtual ☹
I always recommend a Meditherm practitioner when searching for options closest to you! https://thermologyonline.org/

Herbs Over Meds!
Happy Spring!
I’m not one to ever want to promote fear. Instead I love to promote hope and confidence in your own innate ability to be healthy and stave off anything that comes your way!
But in all honesty – many are living in the fear of what’s next – is it another smallpox epidemic? Or maybe it’ll be hemorrhagic fever like Dengue or Ebola? Holy Moly do the theories run rampant these days!!
Viruses come and go. They have done this throughout history.
But can we live in a place of fear? Of course not! There will ALWAYS be the next disease – that’s 100% natural. But really it all comes down to survival of the fittest! Are you part of “the fittest”? The bottom line has always been HOW READY IS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM TO HANDLE WHATEVER ASSAULT IS THROWN OUR WAY?
So what am I trying to say here? Most outbreaks/pandemics have been viral. But we can’t sit around fearful of what’s next because in the end viruses are gonna virus! We can have our bodies ready (to prevent) or treat ANYTHING that comes our way, naturally! But, you CANNOT supplement yourself out of a crappy diet and lifestyle! Yeah I know I hammer that one. 😊 We can arm ourselves with the best immune system we can and focus on anti-virals and immune boosting, right??
While I’m super supportive of the early treatment medical options of the awesome FLCCC doctors I am an even bigger fan of using vitamins and herbs to boost your immune system, try to prevent illness and/or early treat illness naturally.
WHY DO I LOVE HERBS?
Broad spectrum across viruses, fungi and bacteria
Many bioactive compounds in each herb allowing it to have a multitude of actions
Usually incredibly safe and effective
Potent anti-virals
Immune boosting
Modulate the body’s ability to regenerate healthy cell by cleaning out damaged cell parts (autophagy)
Improve mitochondrial function
Decrease oxidative stress
Often have inhibitory effects on viral infections so they cannot get into the cell – example in COVID – Coleus forskohlii and Nigella sativa have strong binding affinity for and inhibitory action on the structural (spike protein) and non-structural proteins (MPRO)
Many are organ protective – cardiovascular, liver, kidney, brain, etc.
And so much more…
Medications are created in labs, often based on an active, natural, single compound that they want to make stronger and more effective. But meds usually don’t have the broad spectrum activity of the original natural product because they utilize only one isolated compound. Other medications are made strictly from lab chemicals that are expected to exert a specific response in the human body. Problem is that due to the chemical nature of the medication the body will often have challenges with the unnatural compound and consider it toxic in other systems outside of the one originally targeted. This is why the liver and kidneys have to be tested frequently when on medications. If it does cause problems (i.e. side effects) then you are often put on another medication to handle the side effects of the first one and soon you are “layered” with meds!
Herbs are superior because they are more than one, single compound created in a lab. They have multiple compounds in each of them to give them a multitude of uses. In natural remedies there might be one compound that inhibits a viral protein and then another compound that boosts the immune system and another that lowers high blood pressure – all in one herb! Three ways to lower your chances of becoming infected with a virus and/or increasing your chances of survival if you are! Now that’s amazing!
OBVIOUSLY (I hate that I have to spell things like this out) there could be side effects or allergies to anything – really, anything – even if it’s natural. Also, some herbs interact negatively to medications you are taking. So please ALWAYS use common sense! 😊
Hugs!

Gluten or Glyphosate??
So what's my beef with gluten??
You've heard me talk about my dislike of gluten for YEARS, right?!?!
Well I think it's important for you to see the full picture and theWHY.
Some will say "eating gluten-free is a fad" or "you don't have celiac so why eat gluten free?". But gluten sensitivity and celiac disease are dramatically on the rise and so are their related conditions like infertility, anemia, cancers, miscarriages, etc.
So why are so many reacting to gluten now?
Believe it or not - I don't believe that gluten is usually the problem!
So what exactly is the problem then?
Well that would be GLYPHOSATE. See some research inthis studyfrom 2013 to start.
What the heck is Glyphosate, you ask?
It's RoundUp®herbicide.
Yes, that spray-on herbicide so many use on their beautiful, harmless dandelions in their yard (BTW - a dandelion is one of the most potent liver herbs there is!! And you can make wine from them!! But that's for another time:)
Glyphosate was patented as an herbicide in 1970 and brought to the market in 1974 by Monsanto but was originally patented in 1961 as a de-scaler of mineral deposits and chelating agent to remove metals from water pipes! So obviously - let's spray this on food, right?! Oy!
Why not just choose organic wheat? Well, since the 1980's most commercial farmers started an unethical (and illegal) practice of spraying their wheat crops with glyphosate right before harvesting to dry them. These grains are still considered "organic" because the levels fall under those necessary for that labeling! You simply cannot get away from glyphosate on wheat in the U.S.
SO, WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT GLYPHOSATE?
Here's a few things we have learned over the years, especially in relation to gluten sensitivity and celiac disease:
1.Damage to Intestinal Lining:
Just like we see damage to the intestines of someone diagnosed with celiac we see almost the identical damage done from glyphosate toxicity (or poisoning) including mucosal fold flattening, microvilli dysfunction and increased mucous production (a sign of inflammation).
2.Weakens the Liver Detox System:
A crucial enzyme system called Cytochrome P450 (involved in pretty much all things in detoxification) is impaired. This enzyme system is also crucial in detoxifying your estrogens - breaking them down into safe metabolites that would otherwise break down into cancer-causing metabolites.
3.Disrupts the Gut Microbiome:
We see an array of pathogens increase as well as keystone (crucial) species significantly decrease in the gut microbiome. You cannot have health if you have a disrupted gut microbiome! If your gut microbiome is not robust then you will also be deficient in neurotransmitters, amino acids, short-chain fatty acids and everything you depend on to be a healthy human being free from disease.
4.Chelates Essential Minerals:
Remember when I said it was first patented as a chelator of metals? Well, just because it is used on foods doesn't mean that it no longer acts in that manner. So we see poor essential metal levels in the body like iron, zinc and copper.
This list is by no means exhaustive but I wanted you to understand that I think we are dealing with something MUCH bigger and much more ominous here. Think of how the USDA food pyramid pushes grains (particularly wheat), think of how wheat is in EVERYTHING. If you've ever tried to give it up and started to read labels (which you better be doing!) then you know just how prolific wheat is in products especially those that have no business containing wheat!
Monsanto's glyphosate is finally being held accountable as a cancer-causing agent with major, ground-breaking multi-million dollar lawsuits too! But Bayer bought them out and just re-branded glyphosate to LibertyLink®!
Environmental Working Group has done testing on popular oat products, children's cereal and more so that you can see how your favorite brands stack upHERE. It'll take you down a rabbit hole for sure!
If you choose to eat a gluten grain many are choosing Einkorn which is a form of "ancient wheat". Some brands are verified "Glyphosate-free" -like this one(no, I don't make any money on this product :)
Why bring this all up now? Because we MUST understand the gravity of the situation before us. We are being conditioned to be ill by our governments and corporations. In essence we are being poisoned into compliance. Reliance on drugs and meds, on "health" insurance, on life insurance, processed "food", poor quality "whole foods" due to soils robbed of nutrients, etc., etc., etc. We are over-fed and under-nourished. We are more easily manipulated if we are sick and tired.
I want you to see your power! I want you to see that you have choice! I want you to make a difference in your own life and those around you! The more of us that embrace true health the more powerful we stand together!
Love and Light!

Naturopathic Physicians vs Functional Practitioners
I’ve got a bone to pick! This bugs me just about every day but more lately because I’m seeing more practitioners call themselves “Functional” but then I’m not seeing real holistic healthcare.
“Functional” implies getting to the root of the problem rather than treating symptoms – BUT what I see is what I call “Green Allopathy” – treating symptoms with supplements instead of meds.
Almost like calling oneself “Functional” gives a license to market to you, draw you in but then send you out with an enormous bill and big bag of supplements and not often a good result long-term.
You hear me say it all of the time – you CANNOT supplement your way out of a cruddy lifestyle. PERIOD!
But what I’m seeing more each day is a lot of conventional (or not super qualified) practitioners take a few courses at Functional Medicine training programs, get a simple certification and then hang their shingle claiming to be a Functional Practitioner.
And then the consumer is seeing that and assuming they are holistic or that they really understand how to naturally treat the root cause.
This is my frustration! I end up seeing a lot of these patients in my clinic who have seen some of these practitioners – from acupuncturists to chiropractors to conventional MDs – these patients come to me very frustrated that these other practitioners “just don’t get it”.
For example – I heard from one 60 year old female client who went to a Functional MD and had a pap smear. The MD then told her that she had vaginal atropy (that’s thinning of skin) and that she needs to be on Bio-identical hormones because of this. This client is also super sensitive to medications and supplements.
OK – let’s use our common sense here: she is a 60 year old female who SHOULD have vaginal atrophy at her age! This is not a medical condition! This is MEDICALIZING a NORMAL STAGE of aging. A post-menopausal woman WOULD naturally have vaginal atrophy – totally NORMAL (not just common). We should never medically treat NORMAL!
(Now if she had vaginal dryness with intercourse then we can support her topically – but this was not the case.)
She simply had a very normal, age-related change in her body that was not affecting her in any way that this doctor wanted to medicate and call it “functional” medicine! Can you think of the downstream effects of adding estrogen to a highly sensitive individual? I certainly can!
Do you get it? To put this client on hormones (even bio-identical) is nothing close to holistic.
I see this with Bio-identical hormones on a daily basis. Many functional practitioners claim ALL women need Bio-identical hormones at all ages for anti-aging. They are being trained in the top Functional Medicine programs in the country!
It’s back to ONE SIZE FITS ALL Medicine under the guise of “Functional”!
It doesn’t stop at hormones – I have seen clients who have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on supplements from practitioners and still feel crummy!
Of course they do – we haven’t changed the paradigm – we have just substituted meds with supplements.
I am super proud to be a Board-certified Naturopathic Physician for 18 years now! I have been trained in the top Naturopathic medical school in the country. I was in medical school for 5 years and took all of the classes you see in conventional medical school. In addition, I was comprehensively trained in women’s health – including gynecology and obstetrics. I sat for Board exams and passed with flying colors. In Naturopathic Medical school we eat, breathe, sleep holistic medicine – not just how to treat conditions with herbs and supplements. Its a different paradigm all together on how we assess to truly understand where the body has gone wrong in it’s most foundational systems and work on correcting those!
Many people have lost faith in their medical providers (whether natural, functional, holistic or conventional). People seek to find ways to build their systems up instead of rely on man-made medications to “keep them healthy”. I have always and will always stand with you!
I will continue to be your resource in keeping you and your family healthy no matter what comes our way!

The Role of Histamine in Covid
Dr. CHetty discovered many people were suffering from a histamine/inflammatory reaction during Covid that started on Day 8.
Most treatment protocols have since added anti-histamines to their list.
It has helped a ton of people stay out of hospitals!
But, as always, I want to know the WHY. WHY did the people who reacted with a histamine response react? What was underlying this reaction? It’s super great to be able to prevent hospitalizations and deaths with simple OTC medications or supplements but my goal is always to better understand WHY, right?!?!.
My belief? It stems from an imbalance in the (WAIT FOR IT…) GUT!!!!
Bifidobacterium – a crucial, keystone gut bug plays an enormous role in managing histamine in the body naturally. When I see high histamine on the microbiome test it always coincides with low Bifido strains. Also leaky gut plays a role in allowing histamines to travel outside of the gut and enter the systemic circulation so the gut bug Akkermansia So while we can give OTC meds or even herbs to lower histamines – if we are lacking the intrinsic ability to do it ourselves we are only band-aiding.
But I also think hormones are at play because women are more predisposed to having Long Haulers than men and more predisposed to histamine intolerance in general.
I think poor estrogen detox plays a key role. We know that estrogen stimulates mast cells – the histamine releasing cells and down-regulates the enzyme that breaks down histamine so it makes sense that the inability to break down estrogens (whether male or female) has got to be a puzzle piece!
Bottom Line: If we aren’t fixing the foundations we are making real progress in health!

Estrogen, Testosterone and Balance, Oh My!
I know I’ve talked about hormone balance in previous blogs and newsletters but I continue to ponder what is missing in conventional and even functional medicine!
I continue to preach about “foundational health” or “foundational medicine” because the longer I’m in practice the more I realize how most of “healthcare” gets it WRONG! It’s “sick care”!
Just think of how conventional medicine works – you go to your primary practitioner with symptoms and they might not be able to help you so they refer you to a specialist – say a Gastroenterologist, Gynecologist or Endocrinologist. Those specialists now focus on one small, narrow view of your health.
It drives me BONKERS thinking about this. NO wonder people don’t feel well!! You are NOT a thyroid, you are NOT a uterus or a prostate, you are NOT just a gut!
When the Endocrinologist diagnoses hypothyroidism have they consulted with the patient’s OBGYN to inquire about estrogen levels? Have they looked at diurnal cortisol levels – more than 1 single, useless blood draw? Have they talked to their Gastroenterologist about the microbiome?
Of course not! And this right here is a MAJOR problem!
When did this happen? When did doctors start to specialize so narrowly that they can no longer see a WHOLE PERSON any longer? Now, I’m not saying there is no place for specialization – surgical specialization is pretty important! But in general healthcare I believe it’s hurting us more than helping!
We have become a set of symptoms.
I see this EVERY DAY! How many clients do I see that have both Gut and Hormone symptoms? About 80% of my practice. How many have seen both a Gastroenterologist and OBGYN or Endocrinologist? Maybe less than 1%.
I can see why I get the phone calls that I do. Because total health needs are not being addressed. You CANNOT balance hormones without addressing the gut and way too many opt for bioidenticals when in fact that’s the last thing they need.
Bioidenticals are handed out as candy as though EVERY middle-aged man or peri- and post-menopausal woman NEEDS them. I hear this daily in the “Functional health” world. Just because a woman or man has results that SEEM low but are in range for their age doesn’t mean they need to be jacked up on hormones (to reproductive-age or young levels). This happens all too often for men and women – they are rarely balanced but just get increased levels – and there is a HUGE difference in the two! They may feel better in the short-term but unless you know the full picture of how they are breaking down those hormones you put them in harm’s way and they start to suffer long-term!
One of the most common problems I see in both men and women is the poor detoxification of hormones. It’s not always a simple deficiency in hormones but an imbalance in how the body handles them downstream. There are 3 phases of detoxification of estrogen alone and Phase 3 happens in the gut – the Estrobolome (estrogen microbiome). How cool is that?!
Middle-aged men often times will over-convert their testosterone to estrogen but without testing down stream metabolites this is usually missed and leaves him feeling, swollen, inflamed, weak, big-bellied and with ED or libido issues. But more testosterone is usually prescribed. Oy!
Remember, you are a WHOLE person and should approach your health from that standpoint otherwise you will continue to chase symptoms your whole life.
WHAT YOU EAT MATTERS!
HOW YOU DETOX MATTERS!
HOW WELL YOUR HORMONES ARE CREATED AND CLEARED BY THE BODY MATTERS!
HOW WELL YOUR GUT FUNCTIONS MATTERS!
In Health!

What Ever Happened to Informed Consent??
Informed Consent, Y’all!
Where the heck did it go? I honestly don’t think many people know what is required by medical practitioners any longer!!
Did you know that medical practitioners giving a medical treatment, procedure or intervention are REQUIRED to FULLY educate you before offering them? Actually educate you based on your full health history! This is to ensure you know VERY clearly what the risks, benefits, and alternatives are to YOU!!
But on top of all of this it MUST be a VOLUNTARY choice!! You get to choose or decline the intervention without bullying! No coercion allowed – that makes it AGAINST THE LAW! So threatening to remove freedoms, employment, education, etc. is ILLEGAL!

Lyme Disease - Why is it So Challenging to Treat?
Why on earth is Chronic Lyme Disease such a challenge to treat?
Regardless of what you hear that Lyme Disease is not common, that’s simply wrong! The first problem with Lyme is that the testing is super challenging. Getting a positive conventional Lyme Test sometimes feels like finding a Willy Wonka Golden ticket! Bottom line is that a negative test doesn’t always mean that there is no Lyme Disease. Then there are the co-infections that are often a huge factor!
What I find the most challenging though is that many practitioners miss the forest for the trees – meaning – they focus solely on Lyme and miss the WHOLE person and all the inter-connections and their foundational health – like gut, hormones, diet and detox. Not everything has to be so difficult. Lyme is there because it can be – what pre-dispositions messed up that person’s terrain enough to “allow” Lyme to take hold?

Why So Many Variants??
Variant after variant coming one after another – now we’ve got “Ah-muh-cron”! Oy vey! (Ya know if I spell it out then I get censored – shoot, maybe even censored by writing it phonetically!)
Media is all over it, of course! But what we are finding (direct from the WHO) is that it likely evades the antibody-mediated immunity (that’s “immunity” from receiving the shot not naturally occurring immunity from having had the virus).
But findings and evidence show it’s also less deadly than the previous variant.
Can we continue to run and hide and think that boostering and boostering and boostering will protect us or is it time to enhance our bodies’ abilities to fight, fight, fight?!
We cannot outrun a virus! Let me say that again! WE. CANNOT. OUTRUN. A. VIRUS! Instead of focusing on hiding in your home and thinking that this will go away you NEED to be focusing on what you can do to get your health foundation as strong as possible so you can resume your life with health, resiliency and confidence!

Post-Viral Syndrome
For over a year I’ve been paying close attention to the concept of people suffering for months after getting the “virus”. Maybe they are suffering with a lingering cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, joint pain, rapid heart rate or more.
We are getting a much better understanding that Post-“viral” syndrome is a REAL thing and research is pointing to an autoimmune response – meaning after having the virus a person now has created antibodies (an army) against their own body!! WOW! And to top it off it may have something to do with estrogen-dominance and thyroid dysfunction!
Now, it’s not unheard of for someone to develop an autoimmune disease after having some viral infections but it is being documented now more than ever! Many of the symptoms we are seeing are very “autoimmune” in nature and a large percentage are even having positive autoimmune markers in blood when previously they had none!
What do we do? We address the gut, we address the hormones, we look at diet and lifestyle!
But modulating the immune system in general is always a good idea!
Rogue antibodies could be driving severe COVID–19.
