The Cluckin' Chit Show

One of our younger chickens often flies over the fence, one of our older easter eggers was feeling froggish.

Our little easter egger chicken has been freeloading for a while, today she decided to lay her first blue egg.

Chocolate our chicken tried to jump from the chicken coop stairs to her roost in the dark.

On 1/26/21 we were hit with 30 - 60 mph wind gusts and hard rain. This was captured on our time-lapse camera in our chicken run.

We sped this video up 3x. The current storm here in California got the chickens in the coop sooner than their auto lights/door was ready for.

Fed the chickens some KFC. It brought over the neighborhood stray cats.

Its got to be the same feeling as rolling out of your bed, right?

When the chickens dont get their treats in a timely matter, they take matters into their own wings and escape to find their own chicken treats.

Watch as our head chicken gives a younger chicken the eye after she is annoyed with the fluff butt picking.

In todays episode, head hen Candy Cane is not pleased her peasant sister Chocolate is in her 'current' favorite nest. Original footage was a little over 30mins, so I shaved off a bit and sped the video up double to keep their their vocals, so no music added. #chickens #coop #nest #eggs

We cut down an hour long video of our chicken laying her egg.

Candy has a six sense about things being in her nest when they don't belong. A wood egg my daughter put in there kept her up pretty much all night. #chickens #ocd

Molly the chicken has been laying soft eggs all week. Today she finally layed one with a hard shell. Yay!

Chickens love their dust baths, our girls will dig foot deep holes pretty much anywhere to bathe. Splish splash dust bath. The girls find pretty random spots to make dust baths, often we need to fill the holes to keep from breaking ankles. Its always fun to watch, so go ahead!

This head hen runs the flock of chickens with a lot of sass but lays the smallest eggs of the group. Early morning for the chicken to lay her eggs, watch as she lets the cackleberry loose. If this chicken owned a truck, it would be lifted.

Chicken Molly has been laying soft shelled eggs lately. Watch as she lays the soft egg in her nest. We have been monitoring Molly for the last few weeks. She is a young layer who is in great over all health. Plenty of free access to layer feed and oyster shells. Very active and happy. While we believe her soft eggs are a product of her being young, it seems to be happening to much, so we will be de worming very soon just in case.

Was a scorcher week at here. On this days menu was Frozen Corn on the Cob, Frozen Tomatoes, Served above a layer of imported ice and high quality H2o.
