For years, mainstream American comic books have been used with increasing brazenness as a vehicle for creators’ left-wing politics, with the current run of DC Comics’ Wonder Woman pitting the iconic heroine against a new villain whose machinations present a barely veiled indictment of Christian conservatism. Writer Tom King’s current story arc, which began in September 2023’s Wonder Woman #1, opens with a violent altercation between misogynistic pool hall patrons and an Amazon from Wonder Woman’s homeland. The incident sparks an effort to deport Amazons from the United States, paralleling real-life America’s immigration debate – complete with civilians complaining about the un-American ways of “these people” contrasted against “mothers being separated from their children.” It is soon revealed that events are being orchestrated by a new villain called the Sovereign, whose predecessors have secretly ruled America from the beginning behind a mere illusion of democracy and are described as having even been obeyed by Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln. The Sovereign holds a Lasso of Lies that he uses to control people, at one point brainwashing a soldier into killing himself and telling the world that Wonder Woman’s superior fighting ability “robbed me of the dignity of my gender, which is a gift from God” in his suicide note. At one point in the story, Wonder Woman visits a terminally ill child named Jack, described as her “biggest fan,” who eventually confesses that he fears “God made me sick” because his favorite superhero is a girl. Wonder Woman reassures him “there is nothing wrong with you.” While the scenario appears intended to skewer opposition to the gender-fluidity movement, today it is the LGBT lobby that is more likely to conclude that a child’s interests not matching gender stereotypes means they need to transition out of the “wrong” gender. The most recent issue, Wonder Woman #8 (published April 16), finds the heroine captured by the Sovereign, attempting to resist an illusion of herself as a stereotypically submissive 1950s American housewife. He quotes from the Bible as he attempts to break her resolve: “Wives, be subject to your own husbands”; and “Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.” Notably, as this is going on, the villain’s internal monologue reveals “we are not particularly religious, per se,” but considers faith a “glorious fiction” useful to maintain control. “We pick the ancient words that suit our causes and ignore those that do not,” he continues. “Fictionalize meanings where appropriate, adding our context to clarify moments that might induce doubt in our dominion.” The text echoes long-running liberal talking points about the so-called Religious Right (while presumably giving King and DC wiggle room to claim they are only villainizing a particular usage/interpretation of Christianity rather than Christianity itself. Democrats and the media are finally acknowledging there are some issues with mail-in voting ahead of the 2024 presidential election. As mail-in voting has increased since the 2020 presidential election during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Democrats have advocated for it as an easier method of voting. However, as USPS has experienced delivery issues and ballot harvesting has led to at least one "redo" election, some Democrats and media are noting the issues with the voting method. USPS started using a new distribution system last year, which appears to have contributed to delays in mail delivery. This can affect the delivery of mail-in ballots both to voters and back to election departments, about which officials have warned both USPS and voters. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy regarding the delivery issues impacting elections, noting that “The nature of USPS’s network changes has now raised significant concerns including the potential for degraded rural service due to fewer facilities, delayed delivery of election mail that would be processed at out-of-state facilities, and critical health information such as laboratory tests not being processed same-day due to decreased transportation trips. These changes and lack of transparency have also caused concerns for other Members of Congress, who have asked for similar information and received insufficient responses.” In February, general registrar in Richmond, Virginia told voters ahead of the March primary election to drop off their mail-in ballots in ballot drop boxes, rather than sending them through USPS. “The reports we’ve been receiving about delayed, misplaced, or even missing mail are deeply troubling, especially as we approach crucial electoral events like the Presidential Election in November,” Richmond General Registrar Keith Balmer wrote in a blog post shared on the election office's X account (formerly Twitter).

The House approved the legislation on Friday only after Republicans revised it to ensure that Mr. Trump would get another crack at shaping it to his liking if he wins the presidency again. Indicted last year on charges of hoarding classified documents after leaving office and obstructing efforts to retrieve them, Mr. Trump has also translated his anger into legal arguments, telling a federal court that there is no reason to believe the “meritless claims” of agencies like the C.I.A. regarding the “alleged sensitivities” of the files. DEI advocate Rachel Kargas attempted to argue for why we need DEI in a desperate bid to justify her job’s existence; “When we're talking about diversity, equity, and inclusion, we're talking about the fact that some demographics come to the table and have to overcome racism, unconscious bias, misogyny, and so how do we help level the playing field for everyone?" she asked. Dr. Phil responded with the obvious question "Okay, so that means you're trying to create equality of outcome?" Kargas agreed, which Dr. Phil followed up with "How do you create equality of outcome when people aren't the same? You're right, some people are shorter, some people are taller looking over that fence, they can't both play in the NBA. You can't create equality of outcome. What gives a DEI program the right to come in and try and alter the nature of things to create equality of outcome? That's been tried, that didn't work, that was called Marxism." The Bakersfield social justice activist who threatened to murder the Bakersfield City Council last week has lost her job. Sunday, the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment announced that it has terminated Riddhi Patel. The backstory: Last Wednesday Patel made national headlines by threatening the council over its inaction to call for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war. “I don’t have faith that you’ll do this,” Patel said, calling on the council to ask for a cease-fire. “You guys are all horrible human beings, and Jesus probably would’ve killed you himself.” She continued, “I hope one day somebody brings the guillotine and kills all of you motherf___ers.” Later in the meeting when the council was discussing implementing new security measures to city buildings, including metal detectors, Patel complained that the council is criminalizing people. “Regardless of whether you elect people into office, they’ll backstab you,” Patel said. “They’ll let you die. And for that reason – you guys want to criminalize us with metal detectors, we’ll see you at your house. We’ll murder you.” Patel was arrested by Bakersfield police immediately following those comments and booked into the pre-trial facility. State of play: Patel is being held in jail on $1 million bail for threatening with intent to terrorize and threatening state officials. Last Friday she pleaded not guilty to 18 felony counts in court and sobbed during her arraignment. Driving the news: The Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment announced Sunday that Patel has been fired because of her comments to the Bakersfield City Council. “We unequivocally condemn any threats of violence or unethical behavior,” the center posted on X. “CRPE has been committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect in all our work and interactions for the past 35 years.” CRPE continued, “As a result of this incident, we made the decision to terminate Riddhi Patel. We recognize this is a difficult situation, and we are dedicated to handling it with the utmost care and sensitivity.” The center said it will continue its mission of advancing environmental justice and civil rights and remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a culture of non-violence, inclusivity and respect. Two Republicans joined Democrats in blocking legislation that would have stopped transgender athletes from competing in girls’ sports in K-12 schools in Nebraska. A bill that would stop student athletes from participating on sports teams for the opposite sex, as well as using locker rooms and bathrooms for the opposite sex, was blocked by a filibuster on Friday in Nebraska, according to a report by Nebraska Public Media. After four hours of debate, 31 state senators voted for the legislation (LB575), but the bill needed 33 votes in order to end the filibuster. Oddly, two Nebraska state senators who initially cosponsored LB575, state Sen. Merv Riepe (R-District 12) and state Sen. Tom Brandt (R-District 32), did not vote. (LifeSiteNews) — A new study from the Mayo Clinic adds further evidence that puberty blockers are not reversible and can in fact create long-lasting consequences. But it also shows how gender ideology continues to infect children at a younger and younger age – according to the study, the Mayo Clinic saw a two-year-old who it claimed had gender dysphoria. “The average age at the time of gender transition and fertility preservation (FP) surgery is 8.1 (age range = 2—15; std deviation = 4.6) and 12.5-years old (age range = 10—16; std deviation = 1.8), respectively,” the authors of the preprint study wrote. “The average age of [puberty blocker] initiation is 12.1-years old (age range = 10—16.4; std deviation = 1.83).” The study included 16 gender dysphoric males who took puberty blockers. “Two out of 9 PB-treated patients exhibited abnormalities: one had bilateral abnormal testicles with a lack of complete tunica albuginea, while another had a right testis that was not easily palpable,” the study found. The researchers were able to compare the cells from these males with others who did not use puberty blockers to create a control group. The Mayo Clinic team found “mild-to-severe sex gland atrophy” in the cells of boys who had taken puberty blockers. A 12-year-old boy in the study had “59 % of sex glands fully atrophied with appearance of microlithiasis.” “Testicular microlithiasis…is a condition in which small clusters of calcium form in the testicles,” according to the Mayo Clinic. A 14-year-old boy also showed “stunted” sperm production. Independent journalist Christina Buttons, who regularly covers the harms of transgender drugs and surgeries, wrote in her analysis: The study observed that over 90% of the cells responsible for sperm production in this patient were stunted at an early developmental stage, unable to progress further. Additionally, it found “pathologically” higher and lower levels of two types of support cells (Sertoli cells) necessary for healthy sperm development. — Kansas legislators approved a bill last Monday that would make it illegal to coerce a woman into undergoing an abortion. Under Hou se Bill 2436, it would be a felony to coerce a pregnant woman to have an abortion. It defines coercion as the use of physical or financial threats to the woman’s well-being if she does not have an abortion when she has said she does not want to abort. “The bill is very carefully crafted, very narrowly tailored to address these situations where these women who may be victims of sex abuse or human trafficking are being compelled to have an abortion,” Jeanne Gawdun of Kansans for Life said. “It gives them some legal backing for their protection, also it gives tools to prosecutors to be able to seek justice.” An amendment that would have expanded the bill to include protections against abusive contraceptive use was rejected. Under the bill, coerced abortion would carry a sentence of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, but a Senate’s rewrite allows a maximum of one year incarceration and a $10,000 fine if the father of the baby was the one who pressured the woman into an abortion, he is at least 18 years old, and she is a girl under age 18. The bill would also allow a 25-year sentence if the coercion to abort includes stalking, blackmail, criminal threat, domestic battery, kidnapping, assault, human trafficking, rape, or other specified criminal offenses. READ: Trump touts support for IVF, abortion in various circumstances “If a woman has expressed her desire to continue the pregnancy and someone threatens her, whether it is to harm her physically, whether it’s to harm her financially, or whether it is to hold documentation in the case of someone who is being trafficked, that would now be punishable as a crime,” said Rep. Rebecca Schmoe, who has spoken publicly about a doctor who tried to coerce her into an abortion when she was young. Studies show that 64 percent of post-abortive women have reported being pressured in abortion. At the same time, 67 percent said they received no counseling before undergoing an abortion and 79 percent said they received no information about available alternatives. Often, mothers face pressure from parents, boyfriends, employers, and friends to have an abortion when they don’t want one. The Kansas legislation was approved first by the Kansas Senate last week and then by the Kansas House on Monday. It will now head to the desk of Gov. As the Democrat Party and its quasi-official state media continue to melt into puddles of histrionic goo because of the stark reality that Donald J. Trump might very well again be elected president of the United States in November, articles about their hysterics get more and more fun to write. This is one of those articles. MSNBC's "This Weekend" co-anchor Symone Sanders-Townsend (who was also Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-VT) 2016 national press secretary), declared on Saturday's episode of the hopelessly biased show that Trump "promised carnage" in his January 2017 Inauguration Day address. Just one problem. Sanders-Townsend either blatantly lied or had zero idea what she was talking about.
