#37 Aella- Monogamy, Polyamory, and Sex Work
Chatting with Candice
Aella
Episode Run Time: 01:33:46
Aella is one of OnlyFans' most successful creators. Aella was homeschooled in a fundamentalist Christian household. After leaving home and finding herself unable to afford college, she found herself in a series of demoralizing jobs, the worst of which included working in a windowless factory and being exposed to sunlight for only two days every week. She escaped that awful life through camgirling and escorting. She briefly worked in the "safe for work" sector before returning to porn and becoming the owner of one of the most lucrative accounts on OnlyFans. In this episode, Aella and I discuss the varying definitions of degrading work, the value of monogamous vs. polyamorous relationships, and how she unwittingly humanized sex workers through her social media presence.
[00:01:18] Introducing Aella
[00:03:03] Homeschooling and social ineptitude
[00:06:52] Anger and coming to terms with our sexuality
[00:08:50] The rising sense of shame among conservative men
[00:12:02] The varying definitions of degradation and shame
[00:18:20] Getting back into sex work with a "safe for work" public identity
[00:25:36] The humanization of sex workers
[00:30:07] Screening clients and the merits of decriminalizing sex work
[00:31:52] Aella's most meaningful experiences as an escort
[00:37:02] Questioning the default to monogamy
[00:41:09] Broaching the topic of polyamory in a relationship
[00:48:38] The pitfalls of traditional monogamy
[00:51:21] Consciously crafting your relationships and disentangling sex from love
[01:06:46] The conservative obsession with sex work and its perceived implications on society
[01:13:25] Erasing the stigma around sex work through debate, conversation, and authenticity
[01:19:35] Reddit, catcalling, and controversial opinions on race
[01:24:20] The devastating effects of dogpiling and ad hominem attacks on social media
[01:30:38] Advice for dealing with online abuse
When the pandemic hit the US, Aella was escorting and decided she needed to find a different way of doing her work. In her journey to becoming an OnlyFans creator, she felt anxiety about marketing her pornographic content openly.
In her "safe for work" roles, Aella had created a network of influential peers who were unaware of her experience doing sex work. There was a tenable discomfort around introducing her content to those peers, and she feared that people would no longer want to be publicly associated with her. She entertained the nagging feeling that her reputation would shift from an intellectual to just a "titty girl." Reentering sex work had become daunting in a way that it hadn't been when she first entered the industry years before. This time, she felt she had something to lose.
The public's perception of sex workers tends to be very one-dimensional and born from a lack of information. A lot of the resistance to sex work and sex workers results from not knowing any sex workers who are comfortable with themselves and the profession. Men and women in the industry internalize the shame projected onto them by the public and keep their work private to protect themselves. Feeling comfortable and secure about sex work goes a long way in driving an honest conversation about it and humanizing sex workers by releasing them from the shadows.

#36 Dr. Tommy John- Wellness, Diet, Healing
Chatting with Candice
Dr. Tommy John
Episode Run Time: 01:32:32
Dr. Tommy John is an experienced chiropractor, former baseball player, and a health and wellness guru. His brother’s struggle and ultimate death due to mental illnesses compelled Dr. Tommy to adopt a holistic healing approach. We discuss his eight principles for health and wellness, the health expression, and how to connect with your spirituality.

[00:37:40] Demystifying Coffee Anonymous
[00:40:20] Why it’s important to take control of your wellbeing
[00:43:50] The significance of having a positive attitude towards healing
[00:50:37] How humans are naturally programmed to live in survival mode
[00:58:00] Connecting with our spirituality
[01:02:20] Traditional parenting versus conscious parenting
[01:04:32] The power of positive consciousness
[01:10:45] How our healing process can affect other people’s journey
[01:17:23] Why you need to adopt the positive abundance mindset
[01:19:10] First steps towards healing
Our bodies are unique, and the way one person’s body heals might not necessarily work for you. Which begs the question, how much control do you have on your wellness? Are you the type that follows other people’s practices without analyzing whether they can work for you? According to Dr. Tommy, the more control we have over our wellness, the better outcomes we can expect. However, this does not mean you should stop taking those wellness classes or cancel all coaching subscriptions; what that means is that you should take control of all your wellness plans. Because a wellness expert can’t fix you, the only thing he/she will do is show you how to fix yourself. Thus, it’s up to you to decide how you’ll go about fixing yourself.
With AI taking over almost every aspect of our lives, most people are worried that food with that human touch will soon become scarce. However, that shouldn’t be the case since you can always make your own food from scratch. But, what if you don’t have time to prepare your own food? Well, you can always start slow and create a day a week to prepare your own food. In three months, you’ll not only have increased the number of days you cook your own food but would have become better at it too. The thing to note here is that you need to make it simple; don’t try and overcomplicate it. Just create something that works for you.
When seeking specialist help, it always pays to understand the hints your body is giving you. These signs come as symptoms that give insights into what might be ailing you. The first thing you need to acknowledge is that something is wrong, and whatever it is that you’ve been doing is not working. Still, healing comes from your mindset. Your willingness to have your body fixed will prompt your body to take up action and commence the healing process. After all, the body can self-heal, and self regenerate.

#35 Sall Grover- CEO of Giggle a platform for women only
Chatting with Candice
Sall Grover
Episode Run Time: 01:24:27
Sall Grover is a former Hollywood screenwriter and CEO of Giggle, a female-only app that connects women worldwide for freelance work, activism, and emotional support, all without unwanted interruptions and misogynistic abuse. Grover was inspired to launch the app after bearing years of sexual abuse during her time in Hollywood. In this episode, we discuss the importance of having a women-only app, dealing with transitions, and emphasizing with sexually abused women.

[00:53:40] Why Transitioning girls are targeted more than boys
[01:03:52] Why most Trans activists are not Trans
[01:05:50] Dissecting the physical differences between men and women in sports
[01:09:45] How Transgender persons are influencing sporting outcomes
[01:16:05] The flipside to overcorrection without proof
How Sall Successfully Launched The Giggle App
For most migrants, moving to the States is a dream come true, and the same was true for Sall, who moved from Australia to pursue a screenwriting career. However, her dream of living in Hollywood was met with constant troubles and sexual violence that she decided to quit Hollywood and return to her native Australia. After going through a healing process, Sall saw the need to create a safe space where women can connect and link each other to opportunities without interruption and abuse.
The Importance of Having Women-Only Digital Spaces
Most social media platforms are not safe for women. Women with active social media accounts can attest to the constant harassment they face in their inboxes. Some men send the innocent 'hello' while others go as far as sending unsolicited nude pictures. Although the most reasonable response would be to ignore these messages, this behavior sheds light on society's moral decay. With this in mind, do we really want to expose your young girls to such immorality? The obvious answer is no. The good news is that with Giggle, girls can express themselves without fear of getting judged or bombarded with offensive pictures.
Analyzing Men's Child Bearing Capabilities
In most cases, male pregnancy isn't biologically possible. However, the past decade has witnessed an increased number of men and transgender individuals giving birth. From a transgender perspective, pregnancy normally occurs when a trans goes through a social transition without necessarily changing reproductive organs. This means that the said person practically still has a womb and can therefore get pregnant. However, men who identify as women and go through surgery and eventually conceive lack two things, motherly instincts and the ability to produce breast milk naturally.
Dealing With De-transitions
Transgender people experience many struggles and hardships before finally fully transitioning. The process doesn't necessarily require surgery since people can transition socially, legally, medically, or combine one or two of these. Even with the stigma that comes with transitioning, nothing compares to de-transitions. Most people who go through transitions spend the rest of their lives with their new identities; yet, some opt to go back to their birth genders after having a taste of both worlds. This only proves how little information is provided to people before taking the plunge into a different gender. What's even more worrying is how the media and gender activists try to silence these de-transitioning individuals. The wealth of knowledge and information these individuals possess can be used to help the young generations during the decision-making process.

Episode Run Time: 01:32:01
Phil Demers is a former animal trainer turned activist. He has garnered international attention for his unique bond with a captive walrus named Smooshi. Phil’s story is featured in the 2020 documentary The Walrus and The Whistleblower.
In this episode, I talk to Phil about his experience at Marineland, the future of animal captivity, and the Saving Smooshi campaign.

[01:09:10] Psilocybin Mushrooms as Legal Medication
[01:21:56] Can Animals in Captivity Thrive?
[01:26:34] Current Status of Phil’s Legal Battle with Marineland
In 2000, Phil started working at Marineland. He applied for a job after seeing a newspaper ad. At the time, he thought it was a good opportunity to work at such a popular establishment. As a newcomer, he noticed that the animal’s living conditions were not ideal but did not speak up about it for lack of knowledge. Over time, Phil was given more responsibility and had become an expert marine mammal trainer.
As Phil rose through the ranks, he realized that the management was primarily concerned about profit rather than the animals’ well-being. He claimed that the unkempt facilities posed health hazards to the animals. Unfortunately, his complaints only fell on deaf ears. In 2012, he decided to leave Marineland. Since then, Phil’s stance on animal captivity has been clear: the whole practice of it needs to stop. It has been well recorded that captured animals have a lower quality of life.
For the longest time, big corporations like Marineland have controlled the narrative. But with the help of social media, more activists are emboldened to speak up against injustice and abuse. Consumers have the power to change things. By purchasing or boycotting certain products and services, we are choosing which messages to support.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been an eye opener for a lot of people. Now that humans know what it’s like to feel locked up, they have more empathy for captive creatures. It’s only a matter of time before society’s collective consciousness totally rejects the practice of caging animals for profit and entertainment.
