I was staring at this canvas. I thought I would try something different. I did a rough sketch of this so that I could get an idea what to do. Then just went for it. I see where I could have done better. Like I would leave the rim pf the vase open like it was before I squared it off. I am impressed with myself at this one. This is a 9x9 piece of watercolor paper. I put one line of masking tape around the edge. I then used a mix of white and Prussian Blue for the background. I find the Acrylic Paint is completely different to work with. I dries quickly. Oil takes so much longer. They both have a different look as well. I like them both. This has been fun. I have been liking what the canvas panels look like with the tapped off edge. The way the Black Gesso creates a line and then the white border. I wanted to try that on a regular canvas. This one started with the blue back ground you see. That was just some cobalt blue and white. I let it dry and then you see what you see. I like Acrylic paints for this that it dries rather fast. This Acrylic paint sure is different than Oil paint. The brush strokes with oil would mix together where with this you can layer and layer. You should give it a try. The paint I am using is Thick Body Acrylic paint from Hobby Lobby the master touch brand. Give it a whirl. I would suggest getting some different brushes even the cheap ones at Hobby Lobby are fine to practice. Once you use a brush for oil its for oil. I have found that with the Acrylic I have to work faster so it works better for something like this where I am just having some fun and painting.
