New York Judge Threatens Trump With Jail Time for Contempt
Judge Juan Merchan has ruled that Donald Trump violated the gag order he issued on him nine times. The former President has been ordered to pay a $9,000 fine - $1,000 for each violation. In his ruling, the judge also said, “Defendant is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceratory punishment.”

Overrun Police Barricades Shock College Campus
The pro-Palestinian protests on American college campuses are still raging, as hundreds of protestors just overpowered police barricades on George Washington University’s campus. When will the universities get this insanity under control?
The GW Hatchet, George Washington University’s student newspaper, reports:
‘Hundreds of protesters broke through barricades blocking access to the pro-Palestinian encampment in University Yard on Sunday night.
At 11:28 p.m. students toppled the barricade between U-Yard and H Street after one GW Police Department officer, supported by three others, held the arms of a protester inside the encampment behind his back and moved him toward the encampment’s northwest barricade. Immediately after, one of the three officers removed his baton from its holster.
Protesters on H Street — where a second encampment has formed following officials’ construction of a fence around U-Yard Friday morning — surged to the barricade, forcing an impasse, chanting “Let him go” and “Shame on you.”’
Encampment appears to be the mainstream media’s favorite word right now to describe the pro-Hamas takeovers on college campuses. However, the antisemitic protests are not just college kids camping out. Jewish students and faculty and those who support Israel are unsafe amid violent destruction and attacks.
Similar to actions taken by Harvard to limit the protests to involving only college students, GWU set up barricades to keep outside agitators, i.e., professional protestors/organizers, from joining the fray.
However, outsiders toppled the barricades, leading to what appears to be a scene from a bizarro version of Les Misérables: protestors standing on top of the barricades waving a Palestinian flag and spewing hateful rhetoric from a bullhorn. Police then intervened, but the rioting was so fierce that many of the police appeared to fear for their safety.
I’m just as tired of these pro-Hamas riots on college campuses as you are – enough is enough. The ACLJ’s legal team is sending a demand letter to the Department of Education and the overrun colleges, reminding them of their legal obligation to protect Jewish and Zionist students (including Christian students) and stop violent protests.
The school administrators are apparently afraid of their students. The administrators’ feckless response shows they also fear that shutting down these protests will be seen as a right-wing move. They are unwilling to make the hard choices necessary to regain control of their campuses.
It’s time to end these protests that are endangering the safety of the students and faculty – the ACLJ is doing its part by putting pressure on the school administrations. I hope the school leaders act soon and prioritize the students’ safety rather than capitulate to the protestors’ radical demands.
Anti-Israel attacks also are occurring at international tribunals. We have the shocking news that the International Criminal Court (ICC) could issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The ICC – made up of 124 countries and located in The Hague – doesn’t like how Israel is defending itself after the despicable atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7. If a warrant is issued on Netanyahu, his ability to go to certain places, such as Europe, to garner support for Israel would be severely limited.
Former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. and the U.N. Danny Danon joined Sekulow to discuss Israel’s determination to defend herself regardless of the international community’s condemnation:
“We are still dealing with bringing back the hostages. We have war with Hezbollah in the north. So that’s another front. . . . We are determined to finish the job; we are determined to win this war against evil, against Hamas. So no one will stop us. Not the ICC, not the ICJ. We will do whatever it takes to win. We haven’t forgotten what [Hamas] did to us and what they are planning to do to us in the future. . . . We have seen what they are capable of doing, so we are determined to stand strong and proud.”
The ACLJ was built for this moment. We will defend Israel when no one else will. We’ve argued directly before the ICC to defend Israel’s interests before – and won. We are mobilizing our legal team to prepare arguments to defend Israel yet again before the International Criminal Court. We will never stop defending our ally.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the protest chaos at GWU and how the ACLJ is taking action. Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell reacted to the outrageous news of the ICC issuing a warrant for Netanyahu.

ICC Could Issue Arrest Warrants on Israel Leadership
Reports suggest that the International Criminal Court (ICC) may issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Such a move would mark a significant escalation in the international legal scrutiny faced by Israeli leadership regarding their policies and actions. If issued, this arrest warrant could have profound diplomatic repercussions and further complicate Israel's relations with the international community.

Viral Video by Protest Leader is SHOCKING!
A shocking viral video surfaced of Khymani James, a radical student leading the pro-Hamas protests at Columbia University, declaring, “Zionists don’t deserve to live. . . . I feel very comfortable, very comfortable, calling for those people to die.” This unhinged rant encapsulates the ideology motivating the radical college protests across the country at Columbia, Harvard, Yale, NYU, etc.
When this individual says “Zionists,” it isn’t just Israelis – it’s all Jews and really anyone who supports Israel.
This radical Leftist is literally declaring that Jews don’t deserve the right to exist. It’s outrageous.
The anti-Israel radical also said, “I think that taking someone’s life in certain case scenarios is necessary and better for the overall world.” This person is rationalizing killing Jews because just as the world sought to kill Hitler and the Nazis, so should the world also eradicate all Jews.
The rant originally took place in January, but with the Columbia protest going on, the student protestor has been highlighted by media outlets as a proud voice of the pro-Palestinian movement.
Again, this is not some fringe radical nutjob making these comments – this is an active student at Columbia who’s leading the charge in these protests.
Has this student protestor even been to the Middle East? This person clearly has no context of life in that part of the world.
The only place in the Middle East that is remotely like the United States – diversely accepts people from all ethnicities and religious backgrounds – is Israel. The second that you step across the border outside of Israel, you don’t get any of those rights.
These college campuses are supposedly the bastion of liberal thought that embraces opposing ideas. Clearly, the majority of college campuses care nothing about listening to different viewpoints.
The ACLJ is all for the rights of Americans to protest peacefully. But when radicals start calling for the deaths of Jews and committing acts of violence, they cross a line.
Such extreme rhetoric isn’t coming out of a vacuum. Far-left public education systems are teaching our children and young adults to hate America, and the results of such anti-American indoctrination are on full display right now.
Pro-Hamas riots on college campuses must stop. No Jewish student on a college campus in the United States should be subjected to hate speech calling for their death. The college administrators need to maintain control and protect all the students. It’s up to the universities to stand up for diversity of thought and free speech.

Campus Protest Leader Calls for Zionists to Die
Khymani James, a prominent figure and protest leader at Columbia University, has sparked outrage with a shocking video where calls were made for the demise of Zionists. As a leader of antisemitic protests, James's inflammatory rhetoric has escalated tensions within the university community. The release of this video has intensified scrutiny on the issue of intolerance and hate speech on campus.

TODAY: Trump Immunity Case Goes Before Supreme Court
It’s a big day for President Trump as the U.S. Supreme Court Justices heard oral arguments in Trump’s immunity case. Will the Supreme Court grant or deny Trump presidential immunity for official acts taken while he was President?
Here’s how we got to where we are today: Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 federal election case against President Trump accuses the former President of “obstruction of an official proceeding,” i.e., trying to overturn the 2020 election results. President Trump asserted that he had constitutional authority to investigate the validity of the 2020 election results.
Smith then argued that no President should have presidential immunity for official actions taken while in office: “A former President is subject to federal criminal prosecution for personal and official acts that violate valid criminal laws.” Such an argument means a President could be liable for any decision that goes wrong – a drone strike, for example. Trump refuted this outrageous claim and appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on the case.
The ACLJ filed an amicus brief in this massive case. We don’t believe that any President receives total blanket presidential immunity for any action as President. We have criminal laws on the books that would hold a President accountable if he, for example, took a bribe for appointing someone as an ambassador.
However, we believe that a President should have immunity for official decisions made while President. If a President is afraid to make tough decisions for fear of potential jail time, then the office of the President will be greatly weakened. As President Trump told reporters today, “If you don’t have immunity, you just have a ceremonial president.” He’s exactly right.
The oral arguments were ongoing while we were on air today, and from what we could tell, the Justices appeared to agree that no President should have blanket immunity, but they also didn’t believe in removing immunity completely. While it’s impossible to guess the outcome of a case, based on oral arguments, it appears that the justices may agree with our arguments.

Supreme Court Hears Arguments Brought by Jack Smith on Trump Immunity
This morning, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Donald Trump’s immunity case. The former President’s attorney John Sauer argued before the Court that “prosecuting the president for his official acts is an innovation with no foothold in history or tradition and incompatible with our constitutional structure.” The attorney who argued the case for Special Counsel Jack Smith pushed back on that by saying, “That is not official conduct, that is campaign conduct.”

The Latest on Trump Gag Order - Caller Questions
Sekulow takes calls on how the New York civil case trial judge is about to deliver a ruling on the gag order for Trump and other potential witnesses in order to control public commentary that could compromise the trial's fairness. However, such restrictions could do the exact opposite, stifling opposing viewpoints and allowing only one side to dominate the narrative. Also, a huge case is at the Supreme Court on immunity for Donald Trump and other former U.S. Presidents.

Trump Gag Order Led By DA Alvin Bragg Decision Imminent
Yesterday, the Manhattan trial of President Donald Trump, led by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, focused on discussions regarding whether Trump breached the judge's gag order. A decision from the judge on whether to hold Trump in contempt of court is expected soon.

Trump Gag Order Decision COMING SOON
President Donald Trump’s Manhattan trial (spearheaded by DA Alvin Bragg) continued yesterday with arguments about whether Trump violated the judge’s gag order. The judge’s ruling, which could result in Trump being held in contempt of court (a $10,000 daily fine or possible jail time), is imminent.
The gag order that the judge put in place is very restrictive. President Trump isn’t in court today, but the judge’s ruling could still be issued.
First, let’s discuss what a gag order should be. It’s usually reserved to protect witnesses or jurors who fear possible consequences if they tell the truth about a defendant. This protects the witnesses and jurors from being pressured to lie because they feel threatened – it also hinders witness tampering.
But the Manhattan judge’s order doesn’t fall under this purview. And it even prevents the President from discussing the conflict of interest with the judge’s daughter, who isn’t a witness or a defendant in the trial but a Democratic fundraiser (has raised $93 million) whose client is Rep. Adam Schiff (CA-30). Do you think people might want to know about possible conflicts of interest?
While this circus is taking place in Manhattan, oral argument will begin tomorrow at the U.S. Supreme Court in President Trump’s immunity case. Special Prosecutor Jack Smith is arguing all Presidents should be denied immunity for any actions while in office: “A former President is subject to federal criminal prosecution for personal and official acts that violate valid criminal laws.” Smith’s radical claim ignores the potential consequences for former Presidents.
The ACLJ filed an amicus brief arguing that President Trump should not be held liable for official actions taken in office. Stripping U.S. Presidents of presidential immunity will only weaken the office of the President going forward – this outrageous crusade by the far Left must be stopped.

Riot Police Dispersed Throughout Yale, Columbia Universities Amid Palestinian Protests
Last night in New York City, protests turned violent as pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with the NYPD, leading to 150 arrests at NYU. And the antisemitic riots on college campuses continue to threaten the safety of Jewish students and faculty. Columbia University, where 100 rioters were arrested yesterday, is extending hybrid classes throughout the end of the semester to protect its students, and numerous arrests took place at Yale University.
https://aclj.org/israel/defend-israel-stop-biden-from-supporting-her-enemies?utm_medium=Video&utm_source=YouTube&utm_campaign=d-04232024_seg-ytsekulow_top-IS_typ-PT_con-defendIsrael
ABC News reports on Monday night’s chaos:
“More than 150 people were arrested at New York University on Monday night, police said, as pro-Palestinian protests spread on college campuses throughout the country.
Students, faculty and others were arrested after school officials asked the New York Police Department for help clearing a plaza on NYU’s Manhattan campus, police said. Many of those arrested were “still being processed through the night and most if not all will be released,” the department said. . . .
‘There is a pattern of behavior occurring on campuses across our nation, in which individuals attempt to occupy a space in defiance of school policy,’ Kaz Daughtry, the NYPD’s deputy commissioner for operations, said in a social media post. ’Rest assured, in NYC the NYPD stands ready to address these prohibited and subsequently illegal actions whenever we are called upon.’”
Yesterday, we told you how Columbia sent its students home because the administration couldn’t provide a safe environment for them. Now hybrid classes are in place for the rest of the school year. Will there be a graduation ceremony for the seniors?
We’re having flashbacks to colleges during the early COVID-19 years when students were isolated and unable to interact with each other. We wonder if the COVID-19 isolation is connected to young people forgetting how to protest peacefully without attacking others and creating chaos.
This is the United States of America. We are a nation of laws. Why are school officials essentially giving up on trying to protect their students?
School officials used to take precautionary measures to protect their students instead of waiting until violence spirals out of control – putting students and faculty at risk.
And are we even talking about anonymous protests or anonymous chaos? When a mass number of people are arrested, it’s not just civil disobedience. These rioters came to commit violence, to injure others, and to bring attention to their issue – but not in a positive way. They’ve gone far beyond peaceful protest protected by the Constitution.
What’s happening right now on college campuses speaks to the importance of the next election. Are we going to be a nation that allows violent pro-Hamas riots to break out regularly? Or are we going to be a nation that respects civil dissent without turning to violence?
Unfortunately, chaos isn’t just occurring on college campuses – the Middle East is also in turmoil. And we’ve got a huge bombshell to report from a FOIA request that we originally filed after Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal debacle.
We have a letter from a leading NGO network to the State Department from August 1, 2021, regarding Biden’s forthcoming withdrawal from Afghanistan. The NGO network warned the State Department that if it did not change course, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan would lead to a “great power competition with China and Russia and interference by Iran to exert nefarious influence in the region and undermine U.S. strategic and security interests.”
So basically, the letter became a fortuneteller, predicting everything that would unfold on the world stage during Biden’s presidency. Russia has invaded Ukraine, Iran has been wreaking havoc in the Middle East and against Israel, and China continues to exert more control.
The ACLJ will continue to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its failures to protect America and our allies. We will keep you informed as we find other documents of interest from our FOIA.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the violent protests on college campuses. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell reacted to the lack of control by college administrations, and Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik discussed performing in Israel during Iran’s recent attack.

Columbia University Jewish Students Under Assault
The antisemitism against Jewish students on college campuses is so volatile that CNN is reporting that classes at Columbia today (the start of Passover) are meeting virtually. Fearing the worst for Columbia University, New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned the “professional agitators” at Columbia and warned that the NYPD would be ready to intervene if needed. This comes on the heels of a riot on Saturday night at Yale University that resulted in a Jewish student being stabbed in the eye with a Palestinian flag.
CNN reports on Columbia’s decision to go virtual:
“Columbia President Minouche Shafik said in a statement the decision was made to ‘deescalate the rancor and give us all a chance to consider next steps.’
The move underscores how tense the situation has become at the Ivy League school and the enormous challenge facing Shafik to get the situation under control. . . .
As Columbia students move to virtual learning, scores of protestors were camped out on the university’s West Lawn Monday morning opposite the lawn where the original encampment took place.
More than a dozen tents were pitched and tables were stocked with supplies of clothes and food. Signs along the perimeter include ones reading, ‘End the siege on Gaza now’ and ’Welcome to the People’s University of Palestine.’”
So Columbia isn’t just telling its students to be careful – it’s sending students home because they can’t control the antisemitic riots. The administration is essentially admitting that it can’t protect the students or faculty.
Remember when Jews had to flee Poland in September 1939? The threats against Jewish students aren’t on the same level, but there are still disturbing similarities. Orthodox Jewish students walking across campus must literally fear for their safety.
Ironically, most of these college students were raised in liberal homes that preached “tolerance.” That’s why it’s so shocking to see how these minds have gotten so polluted against Jewish students without any respect for their beliefs or ethnicity.
ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison is no stranger to college campuses. He commented on the adverse environment for Jewish students:
“What we have in the United States is basically a movement . . . designed to classify Jews and supporters of Israel as oppressors. And the individuals in Palestine, for instance, the pro-Hamas individuals, are now classified as victims. And so in our American system, if you are classified as a victim, you gain political and moral power. And so at Columbia, we see individuals who are proudly supporting Hamas. . . . So all of this has happened after October 7 when Hamas launched an unprovoked assault on Israel. And now Israel is seen in the eyes of elites as the oppressor.”
The anti-Jewish propaganda isn’t isolated to radical professors. President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken are also to blame for this violence against Jewish students. They’ve poured fuel on the flames of vitriol against Jews by opposing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to defend Israel and excusing slanderous lies about the IDF’s fight against Hamas. Biden’s waning support of Israel empowers the pro-Hamas crowds even further.
The Biden Administration and college campuses must reign in the antisemitic rioting before it’s too late. This is the United States of America – this violent behavior is unconscionable. And again, today’s attacks against Jewish students are taking place on Passover, which is just heartbreaking.
The ACLJ stands with Israel and continues to defend our ally. Today we sent legal demand letters to 36 countries demanding that they inflict crippling sanctions on Iran, label their Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization, and allow Israel to defend itself.

Retaliation in the Middle East Against Iran
Last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel reportedly retaliated against Iran in response to its unprecedented attack last weekend. According to reports, Israel initiated a “limited” drone strike on an apparent military target in Isfahan, avoiding civilians. Before the launch, Israel reportedly informed the White House and carried out the drone strike despite President Biden’s opposition. Iran had threatened an “immediate . . . maximum level” response to any retaliation by Israel.
Recently, AP News reported:
"Speaking at the G7 meeting in Capri, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said the U.S. received “last-minute” information from Israel about the attack on Isfahan. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken did not dispute that, but said: “We were not involved in any offensive operations.”
The apparent attack, near a major air base and a nuclear site around the central city of Isfahan, came on Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s 85th birthday. Israeli politicians also made comments hinting that the country had launched an attack.
Air defense batteries fired in several provinces over reports of drones being in the air, Iranian state television reported. Iranian army commander Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi said crews targeted several flying objects, but the incident caused no damage.
Analysts said the relatively limited scope of the Israeli attack and the subdued response by Iran seemed to indicate the threat of an immediate escalation had diminished."
One of the strikes was very close to the Natanz nuclear plant, which you may have heard of in reference to the Iranian nuclear deal. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was put in place between the U.S. and other countries of the Security Council monitoring Iran’s nuclear program.
Well, Israel might have hit near the nuclear base. Iran is saying there were no nuclear issues. However, it issued the statement to their citizens, which means this strike was very close to Natanz. You’ve also got a huge military base there at the airfield, so it could have been a strike on Iran’s airfield.
Notably, Secretary Blinken made it very clear that the U.S. had had no part in Israel’s attack. I’m anxious to see how the Biden Administration responds over the weekend. Will it support Israel defending itself from future Iranian attacks? Or will the Administration continue to distance itself from Israel?
ACLJ Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon reacted to Biden’s troubling lack of support for Israel:
"Israel knows that America has always been its strongest ally. But this President and this Administration are not as strong an ally [just] as Obama was not as strong an ally. And the fact is Obama first broke ground with creating daylight between Israel policy and America policy. . . . And now you see the aftermath of Israel shooting down that massive, unprecedented launch from Iran . . . was to “take the win” – as the President said. What does that mean? “Take the win?” It’s not a win for Israel to allow Iran or any country to launch a barrage of missiles into its airspace and try to wipe out its population. That is not a win. Israel had no choice but to react."
Now is the time to stand with Israel. The ACLJ stands with Israel and continues to defend our ally. On Monday we are sending legal demand letters to 32 countries demanding that they inflict crippling sanctions on Iran, label their Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization, and allow Israel to defend itself.
