SILLY HUMANS, you've been being LIED TO ABOUT BREAKFAST! Today we explore a viewer question: WHY ARE CERTAIN FOODS EATEN AT CERTAIN TIMES?

When diving into this question, it became clear to me that lunch and dinner food norms were largely based on food that was practical for the time of day (lunch needing to be portable and packable, while dinner could be a more elaborate and cooked dish). Breakfast, however, seemed to have SCHEMEY-SCHEMES ALL OVER IT! My theory for how this happened, was that breakfast was largely ignored or unimportant in early history. It wasn't until marketer's started seeing this meal as an opportunity for specialization and differentiation that Americans started having "breakfast food". This video will walk you through America's relationship with our morning meal and beverages, to unpack the historical and societal context of what we eat today!

I realized after recording that I mainly focused on American breakfast, let me know if you'd like a video on breakfast WORLDWIDE! My favorite international breakfast is miso soup! I love how the broth and tofu mixture doesn't upset my tummy. Hachiko likes chicken and playing Frisbee!!!

Americans eat a narrower variety of foods for breakfast than anyone else. It doesn’t have to be this way.
