The Story In Your Eyes (Moody Blues, The, 1971). Live cover performance by Bill Sharkey, Home Studio, Hawaii Kai, HI. 2022-03-17. "Keeping the Oldies Alive"

"The Story In Your Eyes," written by Justin Hayward, was the Moody Blues' 4th top 40 hit rising to #23 in 1971 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (Whitburn, 2013). The song is found on the album creatively titled "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour," which turn out to be mnemonic reference to the treble music scale: E G B D F (songfacts.com, 2022). Rumor has it that this song and album were the last to see Mike Pinder's use of the mellotron, and his shift to use of the Chamberlin for future work (wikipedia.com, 2022).

Lyrics:

I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now, is still the same
And the sound we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon you now, I realize

Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We are part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain

Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We are part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the lives that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain

When the final line is over
And it's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet sweet love
Forever more
