Attention, please! Jordan Peterson at Oxford Union: look where I look, value what I value

Credit Instagram's @jordan.b.peterson with this excerpt on the biological instinct to imitate. This is a clip from Peterson's return to life's mainstream after his harrowing near-death experience [0] with chemical withdrawal from benzodiazepines [1]. That experience cost him pretty much all of 2021. Here he returns to the Oxford Union [2], in a speech he gave in early January 2022 called "Imitation Of The Divine".

We rarely think about how we direct our attention. Our attention mostly follows our eyesight. So it follows that if we want to infer the value structure of others, we should follow their attention, thus if we follow their eyesight we stand a good chance of valuing what others value. Here, Peterson says that this imitation pattern is an inexpensive way to learn what to value.

So I guess that's why I write here on rumble. I want to teach you what to value - what captivates me. I leave it for you to infer why I value what I do.
