Worked example problem on the rotational kinematics of a rigid disc. You are encouraged to challenge and test your knowledge by first attempting the problem and then comparing your answer.

A tyre with a diameter of 35 cm rotates with an angular acceleration of:

alpha = 3 / (t + 2) rad/s^2

Derive an expression for the tangent velocity of a point located at a distance r from the center of mass. Assume that the tyre has an initial angular velocity of 4 rad/s.
