Kenai’s first European Skijoring

Kenai was being trained to pull me on skis using a travois. The travois was secured to a surcingle and the grab bar of the travois was snapped to a belt. The “snap” was a quick release clip that had a string to my wrist. If I fell down, the natural motion of my arms trying to arrest my fall would pull the pin and release me from the travois. This video was the early stages of Kenai’s training. He has since been retired and I have a new horse to train. But at its best, people use these travois’ at a canter or a fast trot through the fields and forest trails. There are many videos you can watch on stupidTube. It is for the most part a sport in Europe.
