"Bye Bye Love" was the Everly Brothers' first entry onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1957 and rose to the #2 position on the chart (Whitburn, 2013). According to B. Scott, The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll claimed that the song was initially rejected by 30 artists; however, eventually the Everly Brothers took a chance, and with the assistance of Chet Atkins on guitar, had their first hit with the song (lost45.com, Jan 5, 2014). The song was written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant; Boudleaux explained his part in writing of the song: “I wrote ‘Bye Bye Love’ while traveling home one night. Felice was driving down the highway and I got the first verse and chorus right down there. I always make sure I have a pen and paper in the car for these occasions . . . We really believed in the song and were disappointed when so many people turned it down. They said it was unsuitable" (countrythangdaily.com, 2022). In 2006, "Bye Bye Love" was presented with the Grammy Hall of Fame Award (awardsandwinners.com, 2022). The Everly Brothers, themselves, had their share of awards. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 (rockhall.com, 2022), the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001 (countrymusichalloffame.org, 2022), and were presented with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996 (awardsandwinners.com, 2022).
