Honeywell releases the Lyric system PIR passive infra-red motion detector. Quite possibly the most advanced motion sensor on the market. This video will go over a first impressions look at the sensor and detail the good and the bad.
The new Lyric security system from Honeywell has all new technology for all in one wireless home protection. All of the sensors are battery operated and have full supervision which will give you complete control of your entire home defense system.
The SIXPIR infra-red motion detection sensor is a mini computer that is able to receive wireless firmware updates through the secure connection. The look of the sensor matches the look of the lyric system which allows for aesthetic appearance and a low profile.
Installing the sensor to the wall is made easy with a removable back plate that slide-locks in place. Removing the back plate allows for simple installation and mounting. Using the included wall anchors and screws you can quickly add motion detection to your existing Lyric security system.
The range of the sensor has been improved over older motion detection sensors and the control panel can pick up the signal of the sensor from about 400 feet. This allows for a larger detection range with fewer sensors.
Each sensor will detect motion based on the passive infra-red sensor. This detects the slight variances in temperature. Once the sensor monitors that change in the temperature it alerts the panel of a possible motion alert and the panel will then alert you through audible alerts, panic alarms, text or emails alerts.
The Lyric SIXPIR motion detection sensor runs on a single CR123A lithium battery. We recommend you replace your batteries at least every six months. However, the sensor’s computer chip will read the battery level and you can use the Lyric control panel to see the battery level at any time.
The maximum range for the motion detection sensor is about 50 feet. However, with future firmware upgrades this may improve. You can mount the sensor to a corner or the wall in any room where there are points of entry, the sensor adds an extra layer of perimeter detection system.
The sensor also comes with one tamper switches that prevents the Lyric SIXPIR motion detection sensor from being disabled. The tamper is on the mounting plate locking device. If the front plate is ever slid off and removed from the backing plate, the tamper switch would be released and an alert would fire, notifying the panel, and you of a tamper.
Unlike other sensors in the SIX-series, there is not a stud mount tamper switch. This is done because of the optional corner-mounting feature.
Follow the video to see all the features, or view our installation videos to learn how to install and enroll the device in your home.
