Using AlarmNet with Your Security System

In this video, Dylan talks about AlarmNet and how it is used with security systems. AlarmNet is a network of security communications that is owned and operated by Honeywell. The AlarmNet servers host the Total Connect 2.0 interactive service platform that is used with Honeywell Alarm Control Panels.

The important thing to remember is that customers cannot sign-up with AlarmNet directly. In fact, most customers will never have to deal directly with AlarmNet. Instead, the user's alarm monitoring company serves as a sort of middleman between them and AlarmNet. But any user who is signed up with Total Connect 2.0 will technically be signed up with AlarmNet. This isn't something an end user usually has to think about, as it is mostly done behind the scenes. All an end user really needs to know is that AlarmNet is hosting their Total Connect 2.0 Service.

On the other hand, alarm monitoring companies, such as Alarm Grid, work very closely with AlarmNet. Any customer who signs-up for monitoring services that include access to Total Connect will need to be registered with AlarmNet. The monitoring company will require certain information about the alarm system in order to get it registered. This is one reason why a monitoring company will need to know the information about the panel and its communicator.

End users should also be aware that Total Connect 2.0 is just the name of an interactive platform hosted by AlarmNet. There is no company named "Total Connect", and there is no way of contacting "Total Connect". Additionally, users cannot contact AlarmNet directly. Instead, only an alarm monitoring company can contact AlarmNet in the event that any issues occur. It can also be helpful to remember that whenever a monitoring company is working on an end user's Total Connect service, they are actually having to go through AlarmNet.
