Night Stay Mode On A Vista Alarm System

In this video, Joe talks about night stay mode on a Honeywell Vista Alarm System. This mode allows users to have certain interior motions remain active when they arm their panel in a night stay setting. This allows devices that normally wouldn't be protected in stay mode to be armed with the system.

With the night stay mode feature, a user can choose specific devices with a response type of interior follower or interior with delay to be secured when the system is armed in night stay mode. This can be useful if you want certain motion sensors inside the property to be armed while others are unmonitored. Many users will do this for different floors of their homes so that they can sleep on one floor of the home and sleep and move throughout another floor.

Only the response types of interior follower and interior with delay are compatible with this mode. However, it does not only have to be used with motion detecting sensors. Any security sensor that is programmed with one of those response types can theoretically be set up with night stay arming. Keep in mind that usually interior zones would not be active when the system is set to an armed stay mode. It is only with night stay mode that these specified interior zones would remain secured with the system.

Any sensor that is going to be secured when the system is set to night stay mode will need to be set up in this manner with the system. This requires accessing zone list programming using the Installer Code on an alphanumeric keypad. Zone list programming is field *81. The night stay feature is set up through zone list number 5. From this option, the user can set up multiple zones with the night stay feature. This is convenient if a user wants to set multiple zones to remain secured using night stay at once.
