Changing the User Code on Partition 2 In a Honeywell VISTA Alarm System
In this video, Jorge talks about changing the user code for partition 2 on a Honeywell VISTA Alarm System. A partition refers to a set of zones on a security panel that can be controlled separately. The feature is commonly available on hardwired panels, such as those from the Honeywell VISTA Series.
When sensors are enrolled with a compatible alarm system, they can be assigned to a specific partition. A user code will only be able to control the sensors for a particular partition if it is assigned to that partition. A code that is not assigned to that partition will not be able to control those sensors, as it cannot arm or disarm that partition. By assigning the sensors of one area of the building to one partition, a user can effectively arm and disarm that entire area, while leaving the rest of the building unaffected. It is generally recommended that a user has a separate keypad for each partition on the system so that way they can be controlled individually. Otherwise, a user would have to inconveniently switch between partitions on the keypad.
The process for adding a new user code to a partition on the system is done from the keypad. For VISTA Systems, partition 2 begins with user codes 33. Most residential VISTA Systems will support 2 partitions (with an additional common partition), while commercial VISTA Systems, like the 128BPT and 250BPT, will support up to eight partitions. Remember, the Master Code for the system will be able to control any partition for the system. If a user needs to switch to different partitions on the keypad, they will need to provide the Master Code, as well as the appropriate partition number. Having multiple keypads for different partitions will prevent the need for switching between partitions.
