In this video, Jorge talks about using a Honeywell L7000 without alarm monitoring service. This can be a useful option if a user intends on only using the panel as a local sounder. However, they will lost out on all the benefits that come with alarm monitoring service, such as receiving text alerts.

The vast majority of users will want to have monitoring services set up with their alarm systems. The only reason not to have monitoring is if the system is going to be used as a local sounder only. If a user is almost always on-site with their system, then this could be a viable option. In this case, they would always be on-site to hear the system's siren during an alarm. They might not benefit from receiving automation dispatch from a central station, since they can reliably contact the authorities on their own. And receiving email and text alerts might not be a benefit, since they are always on-site.

But most users are not on-site with their system all the time. Most people are often away from their alarm systems for work, travel or other life activities. And if an alarm occurs while they are away, it doesn't do much good if their system isn't monitored. This is because monitoring service is needed for receiving automatic emergency dispatch from a central monitoring station and alerts via text and/or email. That is why most people with an alarm system will sign up for alarm monitoring services.

There are a few things required for the L7000 to receive monitoring service. First, it will need some way of sending outbound communication signals. For the Honeywell L7000, this can be through WIFI and/or cellular. The system will need an L5100-WIFI module and/or a compatible cellular communicator. The user will also need an alarm monitoring plan for monitoring service.
