In this video, Jorge shows users the differences between Honeywell 5800MINI and Honeywell SiXMINICT door and window contacts. Both of these sensors are manufactured by Honeywell, and both are used to monitor doors and windows. But the SiXMINICT will only work with the Honeywell Lyric Security Panel.

The Honeywell 5800MINI and the Honeywell SiXMINICT are both designed to serve as smaller, more discreet sensor options for monitoring a door or window. They both operate in a similar manner, using a sensor and a smaller magnet that comes included. The sensor is placed on the door or window frame, while the magnet is placed on the moving part of the door or window within a half-inch of the sensor.

When the door or window opens, the magnet will separate from the sensor. This will cause a reed switch inside the sensor to trip. Once this happens, the 5800MINI or SiXMINICT contact will send a wireless signal to the alarm system to let it know that the door or window has been opened. The system will then respond based on the Response Type setting for that zone.

The 5800MINI and the SiXMINICT are relatively similar in size, with the 5800MINI measuring 1"W x 2.2"H x 0.25"D and the SiXMINICT measuring 1.25"W x 2.44"H x 0.45"D. But this does makes the 5800MINI the smaller of the two sensors. However, the SiXMINICT features 128-bit AES encryption for added security and protection.

But the biggest difference between the two is the fact that the 5800MINI operates at 345 MHz, while the SiXMINICT communicates at 2.4 GHz. The 5800MINI works with many more systems than the SiXMINICT. The systems that support the 5800MINI include the Honeywell Lyric Controller, the Honeywell LYNX Touch Panels, the Honeywell VISTA Panels, the 2GIG GC2 and GC3 and any Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus that has a 345 MHz daughtercard. But the SiXMINICT will only work with the Honeywell Lyric Controller.
