In this video, Jorge explains how the Apple HomeKit service cannot be used with the Interlogix Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Alarm Systems. The Apple HomeKit platform is still not compatible with the Alarm.com interactive service that is used with the Interlogix Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Security Systems.

Fortunately, there are other options for users who have a Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Control Panel. Both of these systems can be used with other smart assistants that offer voice operation. These compatible voice assistants include Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The connections with these voice assistants are made through the Alarm.com service. Therefore, a user will need to have their Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Alarm System connected with Alarm.com in order for that to work. To connect with Alarm.com, the system will need to have a compatible cellular communicator installed and activated with an alarm monitoring company. But both Google Home and Amazon Alexa will offer similar voice commands as Apple HomeKit.

Another option for iOS users is to use Siri Shortcuts to control their system through voice commands. This will work on both iPhones and iPads. However, the iOS device will need to be running iOS Version 12 in order for the Siri Shortcut function to work. Again, the Siri Shortcut feature is used through Alarm.com, and the system will need to be set up with the Alarm.com platform in order for this to work. Each voice command that is used will need to be individually set up as a Siri Shortcut. This include an arming or disarming functions and any smart scenes that are set up. However, the benefit to doing this is that a user can run virtually any smart scene through their iOS device.

if a user really wants to use Apple HomeKit with their system, they should consider getting a compatible alarm system, like the Honeywell Lyric Controller.
