SkyBell Video Clip Availability

In this video, Jorge discusses the availability of SkyBell Video Clips. This refers to how long you are able to access stored SkyBell Video Clips from Total Connect 2.0 or Alarm.com. The rules differ between the two platforms. Alarm Grid monitored customers do not need a video plan to use a SkyBell.

The SkyBell Doorbell Camera is installed in place of an existing standard doorbell. The device records video clips whenever its built-in motion sensor detects movements or when someone rings the doorbell. End users can get alerts from Total Connect 2.0, Alarm.com, or the SkyBell App. Please note that there are two (2) different versions of the SkyBell . One is designed for Total Connect 2.0. The other is built for Alarm.com. You can only use the SkyBell App with the Total Connect 2.0 version. The Alarm.com version will not properly support the SkyBell App.

If you are using the SkyBell App with Total Connect 2.0, recorded clips are stored for seven (7) days. Any clip older than that will be automatically deleted. Clips are not actually stored on the AlarmNet360 Servers. They are actually stored on the SkyBell Servers. However, you can still access the clips from both the Total Connect 2.0 Website and Mobile App. You can download any stored clip for permanent use if needed. There is a limit to only one (1) SkyBell device per Total Connect 2.0 account.

Alarm.com has more complicated rules. The limit depends on whether the user has a monitoring plan without true video service or a video monitoring plan. The user will receive a fixed number of monthly clips and total storage clips. If you reach the maximum number of monthly clips no new clips will be stored, even if older clips from the same month are deleted. If the user exceeds the clip storage limit across any time period, then the oldest clips will be deleted to make room for the ones. However, you can protect clips to prevent them from being deleted. If you fill up your total clip storage limit completely with protected clips, then no new clips will be stored. There is also a limit to the number of cameras (SkyBell + ADC Cameras) that you can add to your ADC account.
