In this video, Joe discusses which image sensors are compatible with which alarm systems. When using image sensors, you must make sure they are compatible with your panel. There is usually a limit to how many your can use with your alarm system. An appropriate alarm monitoring plan is also required.

Image sensors are convenient devices that allow you to confirm activity that is going on inside your home while you are away. The easiest way to understand an image sensor is to just picture a camera that is combined with a motion detecting sensor. When movement is detected, the image sensor will capture one or more pictures of the area. You can then receive the image remotely from an interactive service platform like Alarm.com. Nearly every system that uses Alarm.com has a compatible image sensor available.

As of June 2019, image sensors are available for Alarm.com, but not Total Connect 2.0. It is expected that Total Connect 2.0 will add image sensor support sometime in the future. Alarm.com users can set up image sensors so that they receive alerts from the Alarm.com Mobile App. Whenever an Alarm.com Image Sensor detects movement, the integrated camera will snap one or more pictures. The end user will then receive a push notification from the Alarm.com Mobile App so that they can view the picture(s).

Image sensors are very convenient for users in "verified response areas" who need to confirm break-ins before police or fire dispatch can occur. By checking the image sensor picture, you can get a good idea of what is going on. This is perfect for determining if the activity warrants emergency dispatch or if it was just a false alarm. You can also go on Alarm.com and request that your image sensor snap a quick picture so that you can see the current activity in your home.
