In this video, Jorge from Alarm Grid explains how many wireless zones are available on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 System. Whether you are using a regular Qolsys IQ Panel 2 or a newer Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus System, the number of supported wireless zones is always 128. Most sensors will use one panel zone.

Sensors represent one of the most important accessories for a security system. These are the devices that alert a system when certain activities occur. This can include a door or window being opened, someone moving through an area where nobody is supposed to be present, a window being broken, a fire, an outbreak of CO gas, a flood or water leak, and so much more. Really, there are all types of alarm system sensors, and you can customize a security system for the activities you want to monitor for. Once the system receives an alert from a sensor that an event has occurred, the system will take action based on the programming settings for that sensor.

Sensors are enrolled to zones on security systems. Each "zone" represents one individual detection method from a sensor. Most sensors will only require one zone. However, there are some sensors that will use multiple zones for full functionality. This is often the case for sensors that offer multiple functions, such as a smoke detector that also offers low-temperature detection. For the Qolsys IQ Panel 2, the system is designed to interface with wireless sensors. The types of wireless sensors supported by the system will depend on which version of the IQ Panel 2 you have. The original IQ Panel 2 can only support 319.5 MHz sensors. The newer Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus can support PowerG Sensors, plus one of three (3) legacy sensor frequencies, which are 319.5 MHz, 345 MHz, and 433 MHz.
