In this video, Jorge discusses the number of hardwired zones supported on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 System. The IQ Panel 2 Plus system has two (2) on-board hardwired terminals for Normally Closed wired contact sensors. They can really come in handy if you just need to add a couple of sensors to the panel.

In most cases, a user will simply use wireless sensors with the system. A Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus can support 915 MHz PowerG Sensors, as well as one type of legacy sensor frequency (319.5 MHz, 345 MHz, 433 MHz). Wireless sensors are extremely easy to install, and there are various encrypted sensors available for enhanced wireless security. And with a great system like the IQ Panel 2 Plus, it makes the most sense to go with a fully wireless setup. The two (2) on-board zones are just useful for situations where you need to add one or two hardwired sensors.

If you are upgrading from an existing wired system, then you like have many wired sensors that you want to bring over and use with your new Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. Fortunately, you can use a wired to wireless converter module to bring over most of your existing sensors. You just need to make sure the converter module you use is compatible with your self. There is currently no PowerG Wired To Wireless Converter, so you will need to use a module that operates on the legacy frequency. For example, the Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F works great with the 319.5 MHz version of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. And the Honeywell 5800C2W is a good option for the 345 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus.
