In this video Jorge from Alarm Grid discusses using the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with the Alarm.com service. Alarm.com is an interactive monitoring and automation platform that is used with many types of security panels. The IQ Panel 2 has a built-in Alarm.com Communicator for connecting with the platform.

In order to use the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with Alarm.com, the panel must be activated for monitoring service. This requires a monitoring plan that includes cellular service and access to Alarm.com. Some examples of compatible monitoring plans include the Gold and Platinum Plans from Alarm Grid. You can use an Alarm Grid central station plan or an Alarm Grid self-monitoring plan to gain access to Alarm.com. The IQ Panel 2 will communicate with the Alarm.com Servers using its built-in LTE cellular communicator. You can also connect the panel to a local WIFI network for a second communication path. Signals will go through successfully as long as one communication path is operational. However, Alarm.com requirements mandate that the cellular communicator is registered.

There are two (2) main reasons for connecting the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with Alarm.com. The first is that Alarm.com can forward signals to a central monitoring station when alarms occur. This is a main component of central station monitoring. Please note that if you have a "self" plan, then Alarm.com signals will not be forwarded to a central station. You need a central station monitoring plan for that service. The other big reason to use Alarm.com is that it allows you to control your system remotely. You can access the service using a web browser or a mobile app on your phone. Once you have accessed Alarm.com, you can arm and disarm your system, check its current status, control programmed automation devices, view the live feed for Alarm.com Security Cameras, and so much more.
