Excluding a Schlage Z-Wave Lock from the Honeywell Lyric

In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to exclude a Schlage Z-Wave lock from the Honeywell Lyric Alarm System. A Schlage Z-Wave Lock will follow the same process for exclusion as it does for inclusion. Excluding a device from a Z-Wave network may also be referred to as clearing the device. It's generally good idea to clear a device from a Z-Wave network before you go to pair it with the network. Excluding the device will wipe out any residual Z-Wave data so that the pairing process can go through successfully. Sometimes even brand-new locks have residual Z-Wave data, so it's always a good idea to exclude first.

You do not need to have a Schlage Z-Wave Lock paired with a Z-Wave network in order to perform a successful exclusion process. And even if the lock is paired with a different Z-Wave network than that used with the Lyric Alarm Panel, you can still follow the same exclusion process on the Lyric System. It's just a matter of putting the Lyric System into its Z-Wave exclusion mode and then activating the inclusion/exclusion function on the lock. This is done by entering the lock's programming code, followed by the [0] key. If you need to find the programming code, then you should open up the lock, and locate the white manufacturer's sticker. This sticker will include the lock's programming code, as well as some default user codes. Once you have successfully cleared the lock from the network you should then be able to pair it with the Lyric System or any other Z-Wave controller that will support it. By pairing the lock with the Lyric, you can control it locally from the panel. And if the system is monitored and set up with Total Connect 2.0, then you can control it from that platform as well.
