National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Eating disorders affect people of every age, race, gender, and size. About 9 percent of people worldwide, and nearly 30 million Americans, will have an eating disorder in their lifetime. It wreaks havoc on people’s physical and psychological health—and it can also be life-threatening. A slew of studies show a sharp increase in eating disorders during the pandemic, and more people are being hospitalized for it too. But there are those who’ve suffered with the condition, recovered, and now live to tell their story of hope. NTD recently sat down with master life coach Sue Bowles. And as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week begins, we share that conversation with you.
