In this episode, Tommy and I wrap up our whirlwind Savannah New Year's trip by visiting the historic Fort Pulaski and the beautifully iconic Bonaventure Cemetery, made famous by the book and movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Both places have appeared on numerous paranormal television shows and are famous for the alleged ghosts that haunt them.
Fort Pulaski is an architectural marvel with the millions of bricks, moat, drawbridges and tunnels. Built long before the Civil War, it was thought to be impenetrable until, in 1862, it was overtaken by Union Forces. Many have reported seeing soldiers lurking in the stairways and tunnels, as well as hearing footsteps echoing through the chambers of the cavernous fort.
Bonaventure is stepped in mystery and legends, from the fires of the original plantation home, to the graves that now overtake the once glorious homestead. The final resting places of Gracie Watson and Corinne Elliot Lawson, are a constant draw for those interested in the paranormal, as many have reported strange anomalies at those graves, as well as several others throughout Bonaventure. Whether you believe in the paranormal and ghosts, or not.... Bonaventure is a sight to see with it's towering oaks dripping with Spanish Moss.
