Democracy Promotion Undermines Democracy At Home and Abroad #28

Democracy promotion via either (a) war or (b) information / value has nothing to do with promoting democracy. In this podcast, I state that the former is primarily aimed at maintaining power abroad, and that the latter is primarily to make money, often at home. There is no arguing that the goals and methods are usually mingled.

The two methods correlate today with the neocon-neoliberal axis, though they emerged well before these new factions.

In discussing this issue, I point to the damages done to democracy globally by democracy promotion with (a) coup d'états, color revolutions, and military interventions and (b) propaganda, social engineering, and corruption of the intelligentsia. I paint a future without a successful democratic model, though I also offer some hope in a world with peace and high living standards.
