Wellington Dam Murals, Western australia

Wellington Dam provides water to the south west rural towns of Western Australia. The pipe at the bottom is permanantly open irrigating the dairy areas of the Harvey region. It also performs a dual purpose in preventing saline water accumulating in the dam. Generally, saline water sits at the bottom while fresh rainwater floats on the top. One branch of the dam is now dammed off permanantly, separating the freshest water from running into the dam and that is reserved for town water supplies.
