IRS Form 8840 - Closer Connection Exception for Non-U.S. Persons

If you are a non-U.S. person that was physically present in the U.S. enough days to meet that substantial presence test, you are now a U.S. tax resident!

This is not a good place to be...

However, you might be in luck with the closer connection exception which can override that substantial presence test. In this video, I cover how to complete Form 8840, and provide the rules surrounding the exception and the substantial presence test calculation.
