Schwabian apocalypse: Israeli professor considers the human to be a hackable animal

This video came to my attention sometime in December 2021; I published it on the 21st but it may have been taken from some decade-old archive. It bears the webpage stamp of Instagram's @ice.age.farmer. In it we see, surrounded by a library, Professor Yuval Noah Harari of Hebrew University in Jerusalem as he describes to an unseen interviewer his vision of human beings as "hackable animals".

This is laughable and shows us the danger of history professors projecting their megalomaniacal dreams into the camera at anyone who is foolish enough to listen to their ravings. Still, he is paid by the Israeli state so we need to listen closely to what he says if only because politicians (a simple breed and likely to have earned straight C grades in school) are likely to imbibe wholemeal this sort of rubbish. I'm thinking right now of Matt Hancock or his equivalent.

The problem comes when this malevolent forecast becomes firmly embedded in the zeitgeist, as it appears to have done in the Schwabian entourage. Defective minds may base political calculations on suchlike chimeras only to be baffled by one of nature's immutable but invisible laws.

Oh, what trouble we get into when we stray too far outside our field of competence! Still, it might make him happy (in some grotesque way) when he is older to think of such foolishness.

It makes me embarrassed for him and frightened for the future. Yes, I know bigoted people are liable to see in this some kind of ploy (or bait to the likes of Hancock) which leads to self-destruction of the organism which consumes it.. only to be consumed by it. Well, I disregard such bigots and you should too, internet friends.
