Dirofilariasis
Dirofilariasis is caused by parasites that lodge in your dog's heart, causing damage to the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. The disease is transmitted by mosquitoes, and is therefore more common in warmer periods of the year and in coastal regions. Symptoms include coughing, breathing problems, weakness, heart disease, and weight loss.
During treatment, several tests can be done to identify the parasite, such as microscopic blood sample analysis, echocardiogram, and complete blood count, among others. It is ,possible to fully treat the disease if the diagnosis is early. The treatment is carried out through the use of anthelmintics.
