Honor: An adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of upright conduct. Also, to regard someone with great respect and esteem.

For example, in regard to the U.S. Military and those called to serve:
-"The principle of honor helps distinguish military forces from terrorist groups and other unlawful combatants."
-"The principle of honor remains important as a core value of the U.S. military and helps strengthen implementation of the law of war."
-"The principle of honor...draws from warriors’ codes from a variety of cultures and time periods."

Great Leaders created a character and skill building program for young men call the Boy Scouts. The Boys Scouts Oath or Promise begins with the word “Honor.”

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Being Honorable is a distinguished characteristic built up by years of trustworthiness and upright behavior and actions.
