Spanish 102 - What and Which in Spanish: Qué vs Cual en Español for Beginners - Spanish With Profe

In this video you will learn to how to use Qué and Cuál or Cuáles which is What and Which in Spanish.

Qué is asking for a definition. It wants information.
Use Qué when you want to know something. When you want to find information about an issue use Qué. If the idea is to choose but there is no verb immediately but rather a noun, then you must use Qué.

Cúal or Cuáles means which one, or which ones. We use them to talk about choosing between things.

Use Cúal in a singular sentence with a singular verb form when the idea is to choose between two things.

Use Cuáles in a plural sentence with a plural verb form when the idea is to choose between items.
If the idea is to choose you must use Cúal, Cuáles but it must be followed by a verb. Keep in mind that neither Cúal or Cuáles can be followed by a noun.

¿Qué hora es ? (What time is it?)
¿Qué opinas sobre las eleciones? (What do you think about the election?)
¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono? (What is your phone number?)
¿Qué color te gusta más? (What color do you like more?)
