As the situation at the Belarus-Poland border grows ever more precarious, Belarusian authorities have stepped in to provide further humanitarian aid to the stranded migrants, according to reports.

The operation is being coordinated by the military, the Belarusian Red Cross and NGOs.

Around five tons of aid was delivered on Wednesday, following Tuesday’s delivery of around 1.5 tons of meat products, 1,000 loaves of bread, drinking water, and warm clothing.

On Tuesday, Viktor Liskovich – a Belarusian senator – said ‘We did our best so that you could have meals today and could warm yourselves at least a little bit.’

‘People wanted to get into Poland, but no miracle happened. The European Union did not let them in. People should not be squared off against each other, everything must be settled at the negotiating table,’ he added.
